USA Today best selling author Maureen Child is the author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas. Maureen is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing.
Under her own name, Maureen writes short contemporary novels for Silhouette Desire—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling. Maureen is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances for NAL and darker paranormal stories for Silhouette Nocturne.
Maureen writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings
Debbie agreed to spend her vacation with her two best friends in the island Fantasy. After Cat and Janine found the men of their lives, Debbie was ready to return to home. When she was leaving the island, she was hold by the security team because they thought she was a thief. Obviously, all was an strategy of Gabe, the man she had abandoned ten year ago and who was now the owner of the island. He wanted revenge for the desolation he had felt when she had refused to marry him. After 10 year he was still angry about it. But seduced and abandoned the only woman you ever have loved it not as easy as it seemed and Gabe found out in love with Debbie again.
Ms Maureen I have read some of your books and I must say they are amazing. What the hell happened with this one. What the hell kind if stupid Heroine is this. The only thing giving this a one star is its brevity. This was not it
I hated it. This book had so many things that I hated, FMC broke MMC's heart 10 years before for no good reason, he seduces her out of revenge all while being (almost) engaged to another woman. When confronted about his almost fiancee he says it's none of FMC's business and says they haven't slept together in months, he's not engaged yet and then proceeds to seduce her in his office while the other woman is up in his suite waiting to see him.
I didn't like the FMC at all, she was in love with him but broke up with him because they were young and she wanted security. It makes no sense at all to me, you can get married young and (as long as they didn't immediately have kids) still have accomplished everything they wanted to. With how good of a guy he was and how in love they both were, her breaking up with him all because of him proposing makes zero sense.
I also didn't like the MMC, I understand him wanting revenge but the whole almost fiancee thing was despicable. He wasn't in love with the other woman but he was in relationship with her, it wasn't a purely business arrangement they had slept together and were about to be engaged.
I was very over both of them when they had sex in his office, that FMC would sleep with him knowing he planned to marry another woman and that the other woman was waiting for him in his suite. He was so gross, he saw absolutely nothing wrong with what he did because he didn't technically propose yet. He didn't feel any guilt that he hurt FMC and was extremely cold throughout that entire conversation.
MMC was a massive jerk with just about all his actions and everything he said. FMC constantly thought about him through the lense of who she knew 10 years before. Np.

It's actually a 3 and a half rating but since GR doesn't have semistars, four will do. It is kind of strange to find that there are so many books involving millionaires and love and stuff and I find it a bit disturbing.
