Dr. Patrice Moreau might be a good principal . . . headmaster . . . chancellor. Whatever you call it, she's effective. But man, she's infuriating. No sense of humor. No mercy. No chance I'm going to get her to compromise on her punishment of my son and his pranks.
But I have to try, which is why I'm at Chamberlain Academy the day before Christmas break. Not that I planned on the huge winter storm following me. And I certainly didn't figure I'd be in charge of feeding and entertaining a couple dozen snowed-in students.
But the thing that's taking me most by surprise? How much I'm drawn to Dr. Moreau.
Surviving this lockdown is going to take all my patience, flexibility, and some serious Christmas magic.
Christmas at Chamberlain is the sixth book in a rom-com series, but--like any of the books--can be enjoyed as a standalone.
I love this series and was surprised but excited to get Dr. Patrice Moreau's story. She's the strict, all business, always put together, chancellor at the prestigious Chamberlain Academy. We've seen in previous books that even long-time teachers find her intimidating.
It's Christmas break and all the students are headed home to be with their families until a massive snow storm hits and a couple dozen students and a few of the staff end up stranded at the school. Parent Oliver Kline also finds himself stuck at Chamberlain Academy during the snowstorm. He was there to plead with Dr. Moreau to give his son another chance. To say, these two are polar opposites might be a bit of an understatement.
I LOVED getting to know Patrice Moreau and what made her the person she was. It was so much fun seeing her literally let down her hair and let herself relax a bit. I also liked watching Oliver with the kids--how he got them to help out without bossing them around. I liked how the author showed these weren't just rich, spoiled kids--they were helpful and handled the unexpected situation really well. I especially liked when they showed their talents and hyped each other up.
This one gave me all the happy feels watching Patrice let down the wall she'd built around her and come to understand Oliver's position as a single parent. Of course it wouldn't be a Chamberlain Academy story without Wanda Chamberlain and I was happy to see her included in this one too. This is a clean romcom but it's not without romantic tension and tender moments.
I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.
This was a cozy “Ms. Grinch” vibe and I loved how the disaster of being snowed in and kept at school turned into a fun bonding adventure for the kids. I don’t think it’s realistic as most teenagers have moods that are definitely not like these teens here. All of them were extremely sweet and nice (even with the pranks) and that is not how i‘ve interacted with teens in reality. Still, this is a light romance to give you cozy feels.
This was enjoyable to read it had some good banter and funny inner dialogue. It's a sweet Christmas opposites attract, whirlwind romance. Forced proximity as well. It's sweet and a little unexpected that Dr. Moreau joins in the Chamberlain Academy romance series, but I liked it.
This was my first time reading this author’s work. I was very impressed! I loved how original the story was and how the characters grew and changed. Yes, it’s a romcom, but it was a really great read and I will definitely look for more of her work to read in the future. I definitely recommend this one.
This was a delightful book full of Christmas cheer and magic! Just as the Chamberlain boarding school students are headed out for winter break, a snow storm arrives that traps 25 kids and 4 adults at the school a couple of days before Christmas. The chancellor of the school has to deal with being snowed in with the student and his dad whom she just expelled for bad behavior. The atmosphere and setting of the book were great. I loved how the teenagers were painted as great kids and had good (or improved) relationships with adults. They made the most of their circumstances and I loved how Christmasy the book was without most of the usual trappings of the holiday.
This story had a beautiful ending itself as well as being the perfect ending for the series. I absolutely loved how Oliver and Dr Moreau met initially and then how the friendship developed in the throes of a winter emergency. I also loved seeing Hayes at his best as an empathetic, fun-loving, natural-born leader. Wanda Chamberlain is always my favorite person; she could be my mentor any day. This is a fun story with good real-life lessons and romance. Well done!
Chamberlain Academy at Christmas? I’m here for it! When a snowstorm strands a couple dozen kids, Chancellor Moreau, her assistant Michael, Oliver Kline, and the shuttle bus driver, they have to make the most out of what they have!
I loved, loved, LOVED the chance to see Patrice Moreau soften and change throughout this story. And Oliver was so great in helping out during the crisis and in getting Patrice to open up to him and the students!
Do you love plots where the main characters are snowed in due to a massive storm!? I’m a huge fan and I just loved the unique twist that this story brought.
Dr. Patrice Moreau is the chancellor at Chamberlain Academy. Just as Winter break is about to begin, Hayes Kline pulls yet another school prank…this time it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back. He’s crossed a line and finds himself expelled. Dr. Moreau runs a tight ship and admits she lacks personal relationships with the students. She sees her job description as being that of authority and nothing more. She leaves heart connections in the hands of the teachers. Just as Hayes and his father are leaving campus and heading out of town, they find road closures are happening left and right. A massive storm is quickly moving in. They have no choice but to return to the school and seek shelter, along with a couple dozen other students who hadn’t quite made it out of the area in time. The last thing the Klines need right now is to be on campus at a school they were just kicked out of.
This group of students and adults are forced to spend their Christmas together seeing as any travel plans are impossible to keep. Sometimes, emergencies and otherwise stressful and inconvenient circumstances can unexpectedly make for sweet and everlasting memories. I loved the way this story didn’t only focus on the main male and female characters, but more so a lovely story about all the teens coming together to make the best out of a frustrating situation. Not without a little drama and romance weaved in of course.
My favorite quote:
“People have a natural desire to link together to form community, to exist in tandem, but somehow we talk ourselves out of taking action to make it happen.”
I loved the self-reflection that each character experienced. So happy to find that this is a series and there are plenty of other Chamberlain Academy books for me to read!

Patrice Moreau is the rigid, efficient, and emotionless principal of Chamberlain Academy. Enter Oliver Kline, positive, focused on synergy in business situations, and there to plead his son’s case after a bad prank is causing him to be expelled. Both are diametrically opposed to the other’s outlook on life. But when a big storm leaves Oliver, Patrice, a few other adults and 25 students stranded at the Academy for Christmas, other sparks start to fire between the two of them. Both of them see another side to the other, and start to see how the other person’s point of view has worth. The characters are complex and 3 dimensional with no easy conclusions about why they do what they do. Oliver and Patrice both grow, together, and although there is conflict - both are good at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time - understanding and love blooms. This story was fun, with plenty of Christmas cheer and romance. As always Becca Wilhite delivers a tale well worth reading. 5
This is a wonderfully written book that extends the Chamberlain Academy series into the holiday season, but I love that you don't have to have read any of the other books to completely love this story (but you should read the other books anyway because they're super fun, too).
I love that this romance is clean to read, yet there is the perfect amount of tension that just makes you curl your toes with delight seeing the characters begrudgingly fall in love.
I love that it's a fast read without seeming rushed. Every page develops the plot and the characters and makes it hard to put down (again, it's good that it's a fast read so I didn't have to spend an entire day on the couch devouring it while neglecting every other responsibility).
If you have a few hours and are looking for a heartwarming holiday story of developing your personality, strengthening your weaknesses, and extending second chances, this is the book for you!
She is the buttoned-up chancellor of one of the world's most elite and exclusive academies. He is the widowed single father of her most problematic student...whom she has just expelled for his antics.
When a massive snowstorm strands them together over Christmas, sparks fly and they both discover that sometimes the person who is your polar opposite is the exact person that you need to make your life complete.
This book was so funny, but it also tugged at my heartstrings. I appreciated the gentle way that this book explored the long-lasting impact of the loss of a wife and mother, giving hope that love can heal old wounds and help us to find joy again.
Loved this whole book! It proves that some people hide their emotions better than most. But there’s still a person with a heart and feelings in there. Patrice has totally shut off her emotions towards everyone and runs her school like a drill sergeant. Until the Hayes boys come and show her what she’s missing. & Oliver hasn’t opened up to a woman since his wife died. They both deserved that happy ending! I love a Christmas romance and this one was great! Highly recommend! Anytime not just for Christmas!
Loved this Christmas story from Chamberlain. Dr Patrice Moreau is the principal and, although seen in previous books, we don’t know much about her personally. Oliver is at Chamberlain to protest his son’s expulsion. A snowstorm prevents him, his son, and other students from leaving for the Christmas break. I absolutely loved Patrice and Oliver and their slow burn romance. Hayes was a great side character and showed real growth throughout the story. This series is excellent and I’m already looking forward to the next one.
I couldn't put this book down! I've never read s story with this plot before, and I loved it! I laughed out loud at parts, and really fell in love with the characters. What happens when your son is expelled from a prestigious school, and when you try to head home, you are snowbound back on campus? And how does a love story come out of it? Read this book to find out!!! Ill be reading more from this author!
I really loved this story. I think Becca Wilhite did an amazing job of flipping perspectives for both the reader and the characters that feels genuine.
There was great enemies to lovers/opposites attract tension. Amazing character growth moments you love and great chemistry.
Couple that with forced proximity, the magic of Christmas and charters you connect with and this is a holiday read I definitely recommend.
Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better, I was blown away by this story. Oliver and Patrice, Michael and Millie, Oliver and Hayes, and 20+ other students all marooned at Chamberlain Academy for Chrismas by a massive Vermont snow storm. Just lovely. I think I've read the whole series now. As the kids today would say, I've got the feels!
I love this final story in the Chamberlain Academy. I loved the tension but at the same time chemistry between Oliver and Dr Patrice Moreau. I loved the witty banter, and the story line, so creative and so many fun things happen that I didn't see coming, I really enjoyed this story and recommend this whole series!
Cute, Christmas romance. I gave it one star less than I might have because I wasn't fully convinced the situations presented in the book would make someone like the chancellor change so much. She undergoes quite the personality shift just because she stays on campus with stranded students for 2 nights.... I wasn't completely feeling it. Clean, contemporary romance.
Hooray for Dr. Moreau’s story! After seeing her in each of the previous books it was so good to really come to know her and watch her soften and fall in love. Also Oliver is totally loveable!
I always enjoy a trip back to Chamberlain Academy and I certainly loved seeing our very serious Dr Moreau fall in love! This was such a sweet love story. A little enemies to lovers, a little opposites attract, a whole lot of Chamberlain fun! Definitely a great addition to the series!
This book was so good! The romance moves very slow, but I love the way the relationship develops and the way the kids work together to make the snowed in situation more pleasant. I really liked Hayes. The ending is so perfect!
Loved this latest addition to the Chamberlain Academy series. I enjoyed seeing Patrice getting her HEA. It was also nice to see the growth in the characters as they were thrown in to a forced proximity situation.
I love this book! The characters are so human. I love the growth and Christmas spirit that comes out in the characters when placed in an emergency situation.
I really enjoyed this Christmas themed rom-com. I got to know Hayes in the last Chamberlain book and only knew him as a pesky trouble maker. It was so fun to get to know his backstory by reading his dad's point of view when his trouble making got crazy enough to cause him to be expelled.
Here are some things that I loved in this book: - French onion soup - Washing the dishes - The fall :) - Dr. Moreau's change of heart
Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book. A positive review was not required.
I was so happy to see Dr Moreau get her HEA (and loved the little bonus HEA for someone else too). There was so much personal growth for both Patrice and Oliver. There were some great reminders for readers as well, such as seeing the person behind the prank. Hayes wasn’t just an entitled, rebellious teenager; he’s a kid with a big heart who wants to help people smile. And Wanda…that woman is just the best! Everyone needs a Wanda in their life. ❤️
