Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

Dougal Lockhart has a secret. He's in England on a mission. In the guise of a tour guide, he's determined who is sabotaging the Eros Airlines tours and resorts. The owner of the company has been receiving threatening notes, but it is still to be determined whether they're just pranks or someone really has nefarious intentions.

And he might have just found someone with an agenda. The last woman boarding the plane back on American soil. She definitely doesn't belong on the Romance of Britannia tour with its erotic undertone of love throughout the ages. She's too innocent looking, too shy, too fairy-tale like...But Dougal knows she also has a secret. Could this fragile-looking creature that send his blood pumping each time he looks at her truly be a saboteur?

Roxanne Stanley has a secret. She's in England on a mission. She's taken this tour as a corporate spy to report everything she sees and hears to her boss who's more than interested in Eros Airlines's erotic take on vacationing. Though spying is against her moral code, Roxie must do this in order to get a promotion, because she'll be damned before her sister Stacy drops out of college because they cannot afford the tuition.
There's just a little hitch to Roxie's plan. The gorgeous hunk in Shakespear in Love attire complete with tight leather pants and bedroom eyes.

Despite they both harbor secrets, despite Dougal's suspicions, and despite the fact he's signed an effing morality clause that prevents him from "fraternizing" with the guests, these two soon discover they cannot keep their hands off each other. And they're bound for a truly hot vacation, but what will they do when the truth finally comes out?

Whoa! Someone get me a fan, something cold to drink and a bucket full of ice, because this one was a scorcher.

Not much of a story there (the conflict was resolved quickly, the saboteur has not been found yet, but the final little twist was a surprise), but it strangely didn't bother me. I usually dislike stories with too much sex scenes in them, but this book was fun. And the author did manage to squeeze some vital information about the characters to make them believable and likable in between all the "action".

Also, this book was rather daring for a Blaze. Not erotica per se, but closer than others in its category. We had role-playing (complete with period clothing), mild bondage in a castle dungeon, a one-sided climax in a bell-tower, semi-public sex on a river bend etc. Actually but two of their encounters were somewhere they could be easily spotted, only adding to the excitement.
Yep, as I said. A scorcher.

A great story to spend a rainy afternoon reading. It sure will keep you warm. ;)

P.S. Since the saboteur hasn't been caught in the end and the final note promises more shenanigans, I really wouldn't mind reading more. Especially since Dougal has three friends that also went undercover for Eros Airlines.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Undercover security agent Dougal Lockhart has been hired by Euros Vacations to find out who is sabotaging their resorts and tours. Roxie Stanley is on the tour as a mole for one of Eros competitors. They meet on the plane from the U.S. to Great Britain and they are immediately attracted to each other. He has signed a morality clause and is not supposed to fraternize with guests. She needs to complete her mission or she won’t get a promotion. A promotion she needs to pay for her sister’s college tuition. Both of them are keeping secrets but it isn’t long before they can deny their passion. What will happen at the end of this fantasy vacation? Will they tell each other the truth? Can they really build a relationship after just knowing each other for two weeks?

So this story does have a mystery, who is sabotaging Eros Vacations. Are they just pranks or is someone trying to take the company down?

After that, it is a hot, steamy, close to an erotic story that will have you needing a cold beverage and maybe cranking up the air conditioner. I was surprised by the daring sex scenes. A little bondage in a dungeon, quite a bit a role-playing, I mean the guy was dressed as Shakespeare, ala Shakespeare in Love complete with tight leather pants, a couple of encounters in public places, and some sizzling hot romance in her cottage.

I did enjoy that there was a story between all the sex. Dougal seemed always to be one step behind the saboteur, even thinking Roxie could be the one causing trouble. They also step in to help to help with a fencing demonstration when the people hired were unable to perform.

As expected from Harlequin Blaze, this story brought the heat. A spicy read for a cold autumn night. My only complaint, the mystery was not solved by the end of the book.

I waffled on whether or not I liked Zero Control as I was reading it.

I liked the way Roxie and Dougal had instant chemistry..
I disliked the way Dougal mistrusted Roxie but..
I liked the way he couldn't control himself around her.
Then I disliked the way Roxie engaged in grossly illegal behaviour and it was glossed over by Dougal and his boss! You can't respect Roxie after her lame excuse for doing that.

I liked the role-play, the visit to England, and the fencing..
I disliked the editing because she should have caught the author repeating two whole paragraphs..

I liked the romance, it was believable and blazing. I mean, where exactly were his fingers?! Did I read that right? lol

Finally, I couldn't decide whether or not I liked the resolution to the intrigue.. Do I really want to know who is behind the plot or not, I'm not sure I care..

look, okay. if you pick up this book, you know what you’re getting from it.

as i’ve pointed out with my detailed play by plays, Lori Wilde should never have been given a thesaurus.
her descriptions of sex are 👌 and that’s what you’re really looking for, right? she hits the mark every time. but she needn’t be using the word “epicurean” for any reason. it’s just not necessary here. especially in the same sentence as “gastronome” and some other crazy word i had to google.

overall, you’re getting what you’re looking for. and i love that. i wanted to read a cheesy, slutty, erotic, “trashy” (no hate here; trashy is just what it is, in the grand scheme of things, and it’s used as a descriptor) romance with no strings attached. i think we all love a good ~”trashy”~ read that can set us aside, get us out of our heads, make us giggle and give into little fantasies, no matter how unrealistic. i honestly believe these kinds of reads are just as important as classics; how do you discover yourself? how do you discover your interests and sexual desires? what matters most to you sexually and romantically? what matters most in a relationship, and what are you willing to sacrifice? how do you appreciate the women around you, and support them?
it sounds corny, but you can find a lot of this in erotica.
or, you can just read it and jerk off. both are valid.

anyways, it’s a 2.5 (rounded up to 3) for me. descriptions were as expected - somewhat cringey at times, but the sex sounded great! “womanly sweetness” was a definite ick, as were other things, but ultimately, it was what you’d expect from a good ole harlequin blaze. and it was a fun read overall.

me encanto todo el rollo siglo XVIII & XIV, los disfrases y sus "encuentros cercanos del 3er tipo" pero creo que le falto bastante a la historia y creo que Doug es un ipocrita...
