My least favorite from this author. I already forgot what the story was about already. It did not feel as if it was written by her.

Aiden is the QB for Warner University Bulldogs. He messed up and now needs to get his crap together. Too many parties, too many girls, too many late nights. In walks Bailey his childhood best friend Darrin's little sister. Darrin and Bailey are here for the semester. Bailey needs freedom and used Aiden as an excuse to go to Warner for the semester. But their fake relationship has become real, with all the feelings that go along with that.

Darrin & Bailey's mom is strong arming them to leave Warner but Bailey is determined to stay with Aiden.

Bailey and Aiden's story is about abandonment, love, and freedom.

The Midseason Fakeout is the second book in the Warner University Bulldogs. It is a spicy, sports, brothers best friend, fake relationship romance with a reforming playboy and a sheltered FMC.

Aidan and Kenna are pure chemistry together , with some epic fireworks! I loved these two together. They had some big hurdles to jump in order to achieve their HEA, but jump they did! They individually showed a lot of growth throughout their story, which was fantastic. I loved the character development and growth, as well as the relationship development.

The writing, flow, and pace of the story is incredible, as are the characters, storytelling, storyline, and world building. I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it. I’m very excited for more from this series.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. It's a brother's best friend trope where the FMC puts the MMC in a compromising position. She wants some sort of freedom outside the watchful eye of her mother. Aidan was adopted and has the fear of being "abandoned". Bailey tries her hardest to live life to the fullest with only a short leash. Their chemistry is wonderful and I loved how Aidan went with the flow of Bailey's deception.

The Midseason Fakeout is amazing! I mean, I fell for Aidan in West and Kenna's book, and he is just so swoony! I just love the growth of his character from when we were firdt introduced and how he handles his relationship with Bailey.

Bailey, I instantly liked her. She is fiery, independent and just has the best personality. I loved the Insta chemistry with Aidan and let's face it we all knew the fake dating was going to lead to something else.

There were a few twists and turns in the book that were unexpected, but they tied into the book nicely! Well, I still don't like Mrs. Covington and I don't think that will change anytime soon.

Baidan for the win!!

My only complaint/wish is a little more background on Aidan's bio parents. I kind of felt like we were going to get a smack in the face with it, but we didn't.

And I am a little needy and need more from them😘

Overall, great book. I highly recommend!

The Midseason Fakeout de E. M. Moore Serie Warner University Bulldogs libro 2

Argumento:

Solo finge.

Él me ayuda.

QB1. Aidan Michaels is the IT guy. He’s the quarterback for Bulldog Blue at Warner University. However, he took his eyes off his goal which had always been football. He had gotten caught up in his, own hype of being the big man on campus. When he starts to believe the press about himself he starts drinking and doing the nasty way too often. And gets pulled in more and more directions not ever saying no. But when not only words but photos get to coach he doesn't just get a dressing down, not too easy.

He hits Aiden where it hurts, and sits him out a game. You might as well have told this foster child who had been abandoned, that his team no longer wanted him, and that what he did, would make them drop him as a friend like his birth mother dropped him as her child. He was spinning out. So, he called an emergency offensive meeting at Richie’s. It took the guys a while after the game to get there because they all had to shower and change clothes.

His brain didn't stop there, no it said stuff like, “Football is the only reason you’re lovable, and you’ve failed at that. You’re discardable. Trash. They’re not going to respect you now. They’re going to drop you.” Which is not true. That is when West and Kenna walk in. Soon after the guys showed up. He swore off partying and jersey chasers. That day to the team. After a hard day, he headed to his dorm. When he gets there his childhood friend, Darrin, and his baby sister, Bailey are waiting for him.

Bailey has cooked up some scheme she needs Aiden’s help to pull off over her brother, parents, and her heart. The plan was for her and her brother to try out Warner University. The two of them had only ever gone to a private academy, school from pre-k to high school. They didn't want to go to the college of their, parent's choice. They wanted to go to the one they chose. Bailey had been groomed her whole life to be her mother’s mini-me. To be glued by her side at all the society fundraisers, galas, and luncheons.

Bailey gets her parents to agree because she told them she had been dating Aiden. So, their dad gives the okay for them to go, however, their mom is not happy. But, don't get too excited it's not for a year, or even a semester, no it's only for a quarter, but she is sure once they get to see the real Bailey, they will give in. You can believe she puts, the peddle to the medal at the first hint of a missed step. What started as fake dating turned into a raging inferno of a relationship for one another very quickly.

We don’t know how Darrin and Aiden met. Back in the day. Not just that, but in the end, we don’t know if he entered pro football, or not. I felt like there were loose ends left in the Warner football series, but then the series turned to hockey. Could they make Warner their forever home even if Aiden makes it as a pro football player? I believe they could. The townspeople don’t just love Aiden they love the spitfire who called herself his girlfriend.

The Midseason Fakeout is a light, sweet romantic read perfect for cuddling up on the sofa with, with some spicy, heated scenes that will make your toes curl! Second book in the Warner University series it stars QB1, Aiden, the quarterback of the Warner bulldogs!

Bailey Covington is more than your average rich girl, she has so much more, soul, heart and character about her. Feeling stifled by her extremely overprotective parents especially her snobby, controlling mother who at times seems to only want a daughter so she can show off how brilliant she is. Bailey is primped to perfection, her entire life laid out in front of her without any input from her she buckles under the heavy pressure and sense of duty to make her parents happy, to feel accepted by them and feels like she needs them to acknowledge her worth. It's time for this rich spoiled princess to rebel and find out who she truly is and take the freedom she rightfully deserves! And who best to help with that than the drool-worthy, childhood crush, and her brother's best friend!

Though growing up in completely opposite backgrounds it becomes apparent very quickly that Bailey is absolutely perfect for Aiden! Orphaned by his mother as a child, extreme abandonment issues, a sense of entitlement and arrogance and a soul-crushing fear of losing the ones he loves he pushes them away. Deep connections with people are not something he will allow because he just can't handle them leaving, though he has a special select few, Darrin, West, his parents and yet there is still some fear that even they will leave. Bailey comes in a soothes his hard edges, with her determination to experience life to its fullest, it draws Aiden in until he's captured and completely under her spell despite his attempts to push her away, because he knows if Bailey leaves him it will destroy him.

The flow and plot of the story is well-paced, with the right combination of scenes from light, to emotional, to heart-to-hearts, joy and spiciness. I really enjoyed the character development for both characters as they take back control of their lives, Bailey needs to be free, Aiden needs more control together they help each other. The relationship development between them was so wonderfully natural despite it starting out fake, they fit so seamlessly together that the only real problems they have are Aiden's fear of letting anyone else in. In the next book (if there is one) I think I would like to check back in with them especially Bailey and Darrin and their relationship with their parents.

Highly recommend this book if you like the lighter side of spicy contemporary romance reads as opposed to the darker reads. There are the odd little bits of drama but no dark parts. Let the author help you to instantly fall in love with these amazing characters!

I was interested to read Aidan's story after the first book in this series. I thought this one was good but not as great as the first book. I just felt like with the first book I was getting to feel some pretty strong emotions with both characters while with this book, I couldn't relate as much. It's not like I had similar situations as the characters in book 1 in my own life so you'd think I'd be fine with this book but it just didn't hit me the same. Again, it was good but not as great.

Aidan is a party boy college quarterback. After partying gets the best of him and he's benched for a game and maybe more, he realizes he needs to prioritize his life and get his act together. It's ok to live life to its fullest but if that full life is overflowing causing the football team to suffer, he needs to decide what's good for him. Within minutes of making his decision of no more partying and girls, he's basically blindsided by a girl from his past.

Bailey lives a very controlled life. Controlled by her parents, not her. More her mother but her father does have some say. Her mother basically uses her as a doll in their high society lifestyle. Bailey is to go to a certain type of college, date and marry a certain type of guy, wear certain clothes, be a certain type of woman. To break free from this, she tells her family she wants to go to Warner University, which shocks them. They ask why and without thinking, she says she's dating Aidan, her brother's best friend, who also attends that school. Next thing she knows, she and her brother, Darrin, are heading to Warner University for one semester of school. She just needs to get to campus, find Aidan, and tell him the story and get him on board with the fake dating.

Not only is this a fake dating story, it's a brother's best friend, FMC is running from a controlling mother and MMC has abandonment issues story. It had a fair amount of emotions. The third act break-up was upsetting. You'll need to get to it to know what I'm talking about. I'm not going to spoil it. People are crazy and sometimes do near unforgivable things in my opinion.

I enjoyed this.
I didn’t read book 1 (Kenna and West) but I assume there was one considering the things Aidan says. But since this is a standalone, it’s not necessary.

Aidan is a QB for Warner and is an NFL hopeful. You find out he was adopted at age 5, and has abandonment issues as a result. He also allowed the QB status to get to his head and partied too hard and got himself benched for a game. He’s determined to not let his team down again and to avoid making those choices again.
Enter in Bailey, his best friend’s younger sister. Though I sorta doubt the best friend thing considering it doesn’t seem like they talk often and a best friend wouldn’t just start dating the younger sister so casually. But anyway, Bailey is a year and a half younger and she and her brother are going to attend the same college for a semester. Bailey has been groomed by her mother to be a society wife, and her future is all mapped out by her mom. Bailey hates it. She wants to be her own person, and somehow, both siblings get their parents to let them attend Warner for the semester. But the expectation is they’ll go (back?) to Carnegie after. I’m unsure of the timing of the story as it seems Aidan has been in school for awhile, even though Bailey and her brother are only transferring in now, but I just went with it.

Anyway Bailey told her family she’s dating Aidan which somehow convinced her parents to let her go to Warner, which I don’t get how considering how absolutely awful her mom is. And so when she shows up at Aidan’s dorm she asks him to play along and fake date her. He agrees because he’s trying to avoid girls and figures having a girlfriend will be a good way to put off the girls.

Bailey and Aidan get along exceedingly well. Things get hot pretty quickly and then they realize they’re falling for each other. It was cute and sweet, and steamy at times. And it was easy and mostly very light reading.

I was disappointed there was no in the future epilogue, but it’s a good, fast read.

🏈 Review🏈

4/5⭐️

This was super stinking cute!

Aidan and Bailey have known each other for along time. Aidan is best friends with her brother.

They both show up randomly to the college that Aidan is going too and at first he doesn’t recognize who she is and when she runs up to him and jumps in his arms he is very confused 🤣

She tells him that she told her brother and her parents that they were dating… They talk and they come up with a plan to keep it going. She can keep living her life as she wants and them being together will help keep the cleat chasers away from him.

They agree that if it starts to feel real they end it…

It’s easy for them to fall into a normal couple routine. Holding hands, touching and everything. She has had a crush on him since they were younger.

He is legit the best fake boyfriend ever and things get kinda blurry on what’s real and what’s fake..

He realizes that he was never faking it..

Things get a little iffy when he realizes that she is leaving soon for a different school because of her parents. He wants to be with her but he can’t do long distance..

I love how sweet he is.
I love all the surprises he does for her.
I love that he was the one that spoke about it being real first.
I love that she stands up to her mom.
I love that she legit jumped out of the car and ran to him.

The turn of West's roomate Aiden to have a story. Bailey is Aiden's best mate Darrin's younger sister. When Aiden gets a surprise visit from his best friend & his younger sister he's literally nearly knocked off his feet in shock. Especially as Bailey launches herself on him proclaiming how much she's missed him whilst whispering in his ear to please pretend to be her boyfriend. Originally agreeing to the charade out of kindness to her Aiden soon realises there are benefits in having a "fake" girlfriend. It will keep the "Jersey chasers" away & stop him getting carried away & indulging in things, thus keeping his mind firmly where it's supposed to be on his football game. Bailey is desperate to find out who she really is having been told exactly how to act, what to wear, who to date all her life by her strict rich parents. She's had a crush on her brother's best friend since she was young & when arguing with her parents his was the first name she thought of in her plan to experience "normal" school. West & Kenna feature & Cade gets a couple of scenes. Reid is mentioned & even Lex gets a mention too. I really enjoyed this latest book though the ending left me with several questions & I hope there will be future books in the series that will answer those for me. I'm still hoping for a full book on Lex & I definitely want a book on Cade. I'd also love more on Reid & Brior.

I already loved Aiden as his roll of fun-loving best friend to West in The Comeback, so I was super stoked for his book and looking forward to getting to know him better. My heart breaks for him continuously as he battles his inner demons. One would never think that the one always with a smile is the one most tortured on the inside, but that's usually the case and it's exactly the case with Aiden. And, yet, no one sees it.... except Bailey. Bailey was a splendid surprise. She's tough as nails, yet has this innocence about her because she's been sheltered her whole life. Everyone thinks she has it made because she's wealthy, but we all know that money doesn't buy happiness. Their chemistry is off the charts from the moment they cross paths in this book and you are constantly on the edge of your seat waiting for them to finally cave to their feelings. And when they finally did? IT. WAS. SO. SATISFYING.

I laughed a LOT reading this book because of the quick wit and banter between the characters. I also found myself sobbing at certain points. As always with Erin's books, the side characters were phenomenal and there are a few I'd like to get to know better if that ever enters the cards.

not the book for me.

I do think it’s weird that the first book spent so much time on Aiden and Sydney, only for Sydney to completely disappear without a word.

But that’s whatever.

This one, I’m afraid, is a DNF for just not being very good.

Now, I’m no football fan, but when I read the line about there being a buzzer at the end of the game, I had to pause because that just didn’t sound right. And it’s not. So that was strike one.

Then we have the MMC going on and on about how the FMC was just this perfect little bland doll with no personality, only for him to say, two pages later, how much he loved her personality. What???

Aiden’s personality seems to be a deep well of insecurity, which is weird because wasn’t that also Wests personality in book 1? (Personally, I find it not all that interesting, too.)

There’s a lot of weird misogyny with the evil Jersey chasers (ok sure) and that just feels really dated.

And lastly, this couples fundraiser? I can’t. That’s just too far for me. There’s no way that makes any sort of sense.

So, DNF.

Seppys 5 Star Read:

Another amazing read from E.M. Moore. This is the second book in the Warner University series and can be read as a standalone.

Bailey Covington has had a major crush on her brothers best friend Adien who attends Warner University.  She panicked when trying to tell her parents she wants to go to Warner University instead some uppity rich college and names Aiden as her boyfriend.  After a discussion Aiden agrees to fake date Bailey so he can focus on football. What happens when the line between fake and real blurs?

I really loved this one especially the ending. It is a perfect and romantic and I loved it. These two are so perfect for each other. Hopefully they realize it before its too late. I am rooting for these two from the beginning and love them together.  An amazing read again from E.M. Moore I couldn't put it down. One click this one!

Baidan is a hit! I enjoyed watching Aidan take responsibility for his previous reckless behavior as a goof-off/ladies man. He had a lot of growth from beginning to end. Bailey had lived a stifled existence with her parents, especially her mom, who tried to live vicariously through her. Going to college, out from under their thumb, had her flourishing. I was so proud of her for standing her ground at the end and handling herself with maturity. She seemed so naive when she was first introduced, but she had a heart like a lion, protecting not only herself but Aidan when the time came. These two showed that being young doesn't mean you don't know what you want, and their love would overcome their situation because they made it the priority.

Sweet! loved it!

Who doesn’t love a good fake dating and brother’s bestfriend romance? This book was everything that I didn’t know that I needed. I’ve struggled with Sports romance for a while but this book reminded me how much I love the trope. If you’re wanting a sweetish sports romance then definitely give this book a read.
I love Aidan, my heart broke and yet fell for him, the way he is with Bailey is so undeniably sweet. Bailey is his perfect counterpart and I couldn’t be happier that they got their happy ending. I love how real these characters feel, and how their obstacles are relatable, it made the book such a joy to read. E.M is a phenomenal author, you can never go wrong with picking up any of her books. I loved The Midseason Fakeout, and can’t wait to see what’s to come next year (already praying that a certain character will get a book).

Highly recommend!

The Midseason Fakeout is just goals! Brothers best friend fake dating football trope! Gah, honestly, their relationship flows naturally and was not what I was expecting for Aiden. But hotdamnit! 😍❤️

This story had an emotional pull, I was not ready for but the growth of both characters honestly had my heart booming. I love that Bailey shows determination and ballsiness to overcome her parents and how she supports Aidens vunerability is 😍😍😍

Hold on, though, as it's saucy, spicy, and will leave you gasping for more from Aiden & Bailey. Their connection, trust, and chemistry you can feel within the pages of the story. E.M. Moore has a beautiful way of connecting you as a reader to her characters, and I'm OBSESSED with this world!

E.M. Moore is one of my favorite authors. She has a way with her books. When I saw a brother's best friend fake dating I knew I needed to read this book. This is book two in the series but is a complete standalone without major spoilers of book one. When Aidan's best friend and his sister show up when he is having a bad day things go sideways when his best friend accuses him of dating his sister. When Bailey needs to get away and have a normal life she says he wants to spend a semester at Warren University. This book was amazing and had so many twists and turns. I couldn't put this book down and can't wait for what is next from E.M. Moore

I love brother's best friend and fake relationship tropes so smoosh them together and I am hooked! I love Aiden and Bailey together. Bailey needed to learn how to live a little and take charge of her life, Aiden needed to start taking himself a little more seriously so he could focus and not let his NFL dreams crumble. The relationship is relatively low angst in this book, Aiden is so much sweeter and swoon-worthy than I thought he would be. Bailey's parents are awful and her brother's acceptance of the situation really bothered me. Even though this book stands alone, I also liked seeing West and Kenna from The Comeback Pact again!

When we meet Aidan he’s really having come to Jesus moment with how his actions have impacted his life and goals. And when we meet Bailey she’s trying her best at living her own life, out from underneath her parents thumb. As luck would have it Bailey has schemed up and ploy that also helps Aidan out, and it’s that they’re fake dating. However, with the attraction these two have the lines get crossed very quickly and very easily. These two are very clearly meant for each other but they’ve got some serious obstacles in their way. I loved their story and also getting to see West and Kenna again!

The Midseason Fakeout - book 2 in this series focused on QB1 - Aiden who was West's friend in book 1. Aiden is finding things difficult and as a result his place as Quarterback is at stake. When his friend Darrin's little sister - Bailey has a proposition for him (as a fake girlfriend) it seems to come at the right time. I loved their sweet, fun and playful relationship even with Aiden's background (which we don't find out much about) and with Bailey's closeted upbringing. Which Aiden pushes her to open herself up to trying new things which I think in turn helped her grow as a character as well as in confidence too. This was a great read with characters I really liked.

The Midseason Fakeout gave me all the gooey feels that I was looking for.

I actually enjoyed that the arc of this story wasn't the usual girl meets boy, boy does something stupid, they break up, then girl and boy get back together. There wasn't that low in this book, it was all high and I am here for it!

I loved the mmc and the ability he had to be real, honest and open, it was a nice change from the grouchy a-hole persona.

I love that we saw Kenna and West in this book as well!

This was a great novel to read in the current rainy weather and I can't wait to read more from this world.

I don’t know how I missed writing a review of this but here we go anyway!

Tropes;
🏈 Brothers best friend
🏈 Fake dating
🏈 Forced proximity
🏈 A little bit broken 💔
🏈 Jersey chaser avoidance

I really loved Aidan and Bailey, their development through the book was wonderful and the chemistry was 🥵. I enjoyed seeing Bailey grow into the feisty woman she’s capable of being when she’s not under the thumb of her mother. She’s so desperate to be accepted by them and you can really feel that pressure.

Aiden broke my little heart. Those abandonment issues be deep seated and he just needed someone to love him 😭.

I’m due a reread of this ready for book 3 so will update my review afterwards!

This had some really swoony moments, especially towards the end. And I enjoyed the playful banter.
However, Bailey was just a little too desperate for me the first half. She comes off a bit too pathetic that she’s so shelter and does anything her mom ask of her. Then throw in that she’s been pining over Aiden for years and now he knows it, and I just needed her to less “pick me!”
Then there’s Aiden who endlessly talks about how experienced he is and great he is. I honestly couldn’t tell if the conceited comments were jokes or real. I think he was serious.

But the real kicker was that absolutely ridiculous ending with the mother. 🤦🏻‍♀️

FAKE OUT: •4⭐️ •3🌶️

"problematiche". Qundi che dire, leggetelo perché li amerete.

Buona lettura🖤

I love a fake dating trope 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 especially when the main characters didn’t have to do much pretending at all 😌

I loved the way Bailey just sprung their little arrangement on Aidan out of no where 🤣

Bailey is looking for freedom & Aidan is more than happy to help her check things off her list.

I loved seeing the way these two got closer & got to know each other more. Aidan had so many assumptions about Bailey & I loved that he was so wrong about her.

I’ve never wanted to square up with someone’s mother so bad 💀💀💀

Erin really knows how to capture my attention with the books she writes. I have really enjoyed everything she writes and this book is no different. I enjoy college romances especially when it is around sports. Throw in some of my favourite tropes, fake dating and brother’s best friend…and I’m sold!

🏈🏈🏈
“The star quarterback of the Bulldogs was supposed to be my ticket to a normal life, but now I’ve fallen for him…again.

He’s my brother’s best friend. The perfect person to fake a relationship with. No feelings involved. Just pretend.

He helps me. I help him.

We both agreed.

Except, things get real…and quick.”

I highly recommend reading this series.

Aaaahhhh! I love Aidan! Even in the Comeback Pact, I loved him! And getting to read his story definitely didn't disappoint. He's the same golden retriever, loveable character! And his fake relationship with Bailey is mutually beneficial so instead of the typical reluctant character that enters into a fake relationship, they both went in with both feet. And I loved how their relationship naturally developed! This book had all the good feels. Highly recommend!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve dived into an E.M Moore book and The Midseason Fakeout did not disappoint. This was some slow burn, angsty goodness with some laugh out loud moments that warmed my heart. There is just something about E.M Moore’s writing that gets me all up in the feels and leaves me craving more. Ohhhh…Bailey and Aiden are definite couples goals, loved them! A sexy funny footballer and a strong determined female MC are a recipe for success.
