Another gorgeously designed book from Tara Books. This one features the beauty of Kalamkari to tell an Indonesian folktale about a monkey and a deer that are best friends. It's a trickster tale and it's quite a fun read to see how the deer outwits the monkey. But as with all Tara Books, sometimes it's hard to keep your eye on the story because the art work is so fantastic.

Beautiful illustrations and a witty folk tale. Tara Books prints the most beautifully illustrated books. This one has an added section on Kalmkari, the ancient Indian textile art, showing how the intricate illustrations are made.
