The book is beautiful and the recipes are interesting. However, not only are there multiple spelling mistakes/editing errors, there are no citations at the end to back up any of the numerous health claims made throughout the book. There is also no nutritional index for each recipe, which I personally think should be included given that this was written by health professionals.

It actually didn’t inform me anymore than what I already knew. Not great if you don’t want to do BLW.

The book is beautiful. The recipes look interesting and simple enough and I will try some.

They say you need simple tools to make the recipes but every recipe calls for a food processor or blender.

There’s a little bit too much pseudo nutrition science for my liking.

Red flags galore, primarily

1. Constantly coding foods as healthy or unhealthy, rather than just focusing on nutritional content (given babies often eat so little, you want what they eat to pack a punch). This is eating disorder language.
2. No citations. Heaps of nutritional claims but no backing.
3. Errors.

And lastly, it’s not baby food if a good half of the recipes are for babies over 12 months, with many being over 18 months or over 24 months. The recipes look ok, but I prefer the organisation of boob to food’s book milk to meals, as it is sorted by age.

Lastly, I wish more of these books had a ‘good enough’ approach. Tell me what is non-negotiable (backed by science, not your personal opinion) and what is nice to have. I’m not making my own wraps, guys. I do not have time. But I will be hard and fast on no honey before 12 months.

I just don’t want mums out there thinking they have to make everything from scratch.

I was running out of ideas for my 10month old and this helped so much! I love that they are baby recipes with actual flavour so they’re delicious for the whole family. Definitely not for the budget conscious though.
