This was an interesting, but not very scary horror novel. A group of college kids taking a night class at a fictional college in Austin, Texas get talked into holding a sort of seance by their teacher. He has somehow figured out that one of the kids in the group can "make" things out of thin air just by thinking about them, and his motive is to get this kid to make a map of where some buried treasure lies. See, this teacher is somewhat of an expert on the legend of Mack "Mad" Maron, a notorious bank robber, who murdered a bunch of people during a robbery and then buried the treasure. Unfortunately, in the process of "making" the map, the kid accidentally brings back Mad Maron and his band of outlaws, and they have only one thing on their mind -- kill everybody in sight.

This was a very easy read, and I got through it pretty quick. It was enjoyable enough, and it was fun to read a book that takes place in an area I'm very familiar with, as a lot of landmarks were mentioned (heck, even Pflugerville was visited at the end of the book!). But it wasn't a very scary book, and there were a lot of things that happened abruptly and with no real explanation. And it was difficult to keep track of where the characters were, as they seemed to be in one place one moment, but in a completely different place another moment, with no explanation as to how they got there.

So, it wasn't the greatest book I've ever read, but it was fun and pretty gory in parts.

This book was a tiny bit corny (as most horror novels are), very well-written, and a BLAST to read! If you like horror stories, especially about killer zombie cowboys killing innocent college students, you'll love this book! I honestly couldn't put this down, though, and it was perfect to unwind and escape at the end of the day.

I've known the author since elementary school, so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I look forward to more from her. Her writing style is fantastic and simple and flowing.

I'm fairly undecided about this book still. Just read it again to figure out if I actually want to keep it or not. The characters are under developed in my opinion. The whole story is actually pretty under developed. For it being an average length book wise, I don't feel like a lot actually happens.

There are two ideas being posited in this story, the title location, and the protagonists supernatural "ability". The author could have done considerably more with the latter, but the former, the setting for the story, was pretty fin. Found the overall story enjoyable, albeit forgettable.

This book was boring and at times confusing. The description sounded awesome, but the book was a huge let down.
