I thought the craziest change I would experience in my life was moving to London to run a pub that my late uncle left me, but then I found what was under the pub.
A whole fantastical world was hidden beneath my feet. Full of monsters, magic, and beautiful women who need my help.
After I saved a gorgeous Elven princess, she told me she had been framed for her father’s murder and has been on the run ever since.
So, between settling into the UK and figuring out how to run a pub, now I have to find a way to help the princess win back her kingdom. The risks were deadly, but the reward could include love and endless wealth.
This might be a spinoff from the original Backyard Dungeon but it’s nowhere near as good. The storyline is very poor. I mean, you find the barrier to the land of the Fae, and there’s a big signpost saying, This way to the land of the Fae. Come on, get real. I didn’t bother finishing the book and I won’t be reading book 2.
As the title says, this one doesn’t really hold up to Jacobs’ other stories. I’ll still be reading on to book 2 but this wasn’t a great one.
This one just didn’t seem to have much happening and very little reasoning for what did happen. The pacing was really confusing too. The other backyard dungeon books have been great with telling a big adventurous story with spice but this one felt like it did the equivalent of just saying, “They had an adventure!” And then moved on. Weird.
But like I said, I have faith in Jacobs so I’ll be reading book 2
Backyard dungeon was already an all time favourite of mine, and now we have a brand new spin off set in London beneath an inherited Pub.
And it's just as brilliant as the original series, without needing to read either series. Logan Jacobs makes it clear that you don't need to read both series as they can be enjoyed separately, with only the occasional references between series.
As I love the original BD, BD UK is going to be just as good and I'm looking forward to where this is going to go!
As soon as a saw that a spin off was available I immediately went to amazon to get me a copy. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it within a few hours. The only regret I have is that I now have to wait for the next volume of BD UK Edition! It is its own story with some mentions of Eddie. But Jason’s dungeon is its own piece of cave networkings, some familiar entities and some new that are introduced to Jason’s story that aren’t in Eddie’s. I can’t wait for more of Jason’s story to be told!
I was going to mark this lower, but realise it's a perfectly fine tale. The problem is even though the author has put in some work to make it its own thing, it's just too much like the other series for me. I refused to even try the dungeon in my closet for similar fears.
If you haven't read the other series you might like this, or if you don't mind that it may feel the same then give it a try. I just found I couldn't focus and and will probably skip the series.
I enjoyed reading this new book covering a new land and new charters. I enjoyed the set up and the new races, are the appearances of them so different due to the land they come form, and I was sad the story was so short . but I feel I just enjoyed it too much so the time flew. Keep doing the great job and I look forward to reading more pub related adventures. I thank you for your hard work and look forward to reading more of your books
Interesting beginning storyline. Different area, different people and problems. It will be fun to see how the firepower issue gets resolved and what the author has planned for “guest appearances” with Eddie from the US backyard dungeon series. Looking forward to the next chapters in this series.
I really enjoyed this book, and it's a great compliment to the other series of Backyard Dungeon. The hero is fantastic. I just hope the rest of the UK series has more adult situations in each book. I'm also looking forward to more interaction between both series, with Jason, Eddie Hill, and both sets of ladies.
Logan has taken the Back Yard Dugeon and added more to the underground world he has created. New characters and new places expand the world he created. I look forward to this new addition. Keep up the great work.
A good story that kept my interest up, but as yet, not as good as the American version! Brits and their no gun policies, guns are half the fun! Can't wait to see the story unfold!
I'm very happy for having found this author's books. Logan Jacobs has several series of books, and this one book shows great promise for another fun series. If you haven't read anything by Jacobs, start here and have a great fantasy adventure.
This was a good story. It was different than the other series and it was cool how he tossed in a chance meeting with Eddie. I hope a second book gets written soon.
As a Yank that had a Pub in the UK and lived there for 30 years the narrative does not work. The Brits do not have "yards" they have "gardens" the entire work, a joke.
Not quite as good as his original series. He messes up some of the naming conventions for British things, using instead the American names. This didn't bother me as being both British and American I can relate to switching them in my head. But, it could trip some folks up.
Also the story seemed a bit more rudimentary in comparison to the original series.
I have read all13 of the Backyard Dungeon series. Though this is a whole new group of characters it was a very good read. I'm interested in #2 of this series and waiting for#14 from the other series.
