Following the deaths of his wife and
daughter, special ops agent Cody Willis struggles to cope with his overwhelming
grief and, as a result, is sent on temporary leave from his work--one of the
only places that ever felt like home to him. No longer knowing who he is, Cody is
forced to pick up the pieces. But when his sister, Tessa, is kidnapped and
forced to lead a top-secret job as the head of a research team in Peru, working
to uncover the many secrets of the Nephilim--a race of ancient giants once
thought to have dominated our lands--Cody realizes that perhaps leaving behind
the life of special ops isn't as easy as he thought. With the help of several
of his fellow special ops agents, Frank, Val, and Tom, the four men race across
the world in order to save one of the last people Cody thinks he has left as
the clock quickly ticks down the time they have to do so.

5 Stars – Bold, Brutal, Brilliant

Renegade Immortality is a ferocious blend of sci-fi noir, cyberpunk grit, and philosophical depth. Christopher Clay crafts a dark, high-octane story that challenges the cost of living forever. The pacing is relentless, the twists hit hard, and the world feels disturbingly real. If you like your fiction smart, sharp, and a little dangerous—this one’s for you.

Part tactical thriller, part archeological adventure, Renegade Immortality is a unique novel. When uncovering the tomb of the Nephilim, Tessa Willis finds herself kidnapped by a corrupt business with a dark agenda. She calls her brother, former special Ops Agent Cody Willis to her rescue.

My fun with the book went with my tastes. Archeology adventure interests me more than tactical thriller, and the blending of these genres works as a whole, but I was less invested when the balance shifted.

There’s a Fast and Furious family vibe which was building towards the end and has me intrigued at further installments. Christopher stuck the landing and set up puzzles to unravel for future adventures.

I really enjoyed this book and am very proud to know the author! While I don’t have much background knowledge on all the tactical lingo, I’ve always been a fan of Indian Jones and Lara Croft. This setting, story plot and characters caught my interest and it was tough to put the book down. Looking forward to following more adventures of the Renegade crew in the future.
