Cobb Island offers not one but three romances in this novel set off the coast of Virginia. Marcy and Doug have had only sporadic contact since Marcy's family moved away a year ago. Their older sisters agree to supervise the lovesick teens during a week-long stay in an eerie island house that has been in Marcy's family since the late 1600s. But who will chaperone the chaperones? Blayne Cooper

Born in Northern California in January 1969, Blayne Cooper is the best-selling author of a variety of fiction ranging from mystery/romance to outrageous parody. With each novel she tackles a new personal writing challenge. The result is a diverse collection of lesbian fiction.
Blayne has held a number of interesting, and sometimes rather unusual jobs (sunflower sexer), and completed a stint as a Combat Medic in the Army National Guard. Today, she is a project manager for a legal publishing company by day, and writer by night.
In 1990 Blayne graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in political science. The next year she married and in 1995 she graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and was admitted into the Oklahoma Bar Association.
That same summer, her spirited daughter was born. A gregarious son completed the family in 1997. She easily ranks her children as her greatest accomplishment.
Blayne has always harbored an interest in fiction, but it wasn’t until 1998 that she tried her own hand at writing by reaching out to an online audience. A couple of years later, her work was published. While she enjoys the challenge of working in multiple genres, it's writing about the humor found in everyday life that gives her the most pleasure.
Blayne loves travel, reading, and spending long, sleepless nights crouched over her computer in search of the perfect words that will make people laugh or weep uncontrollably. She's still looking, but having a great time on the journey.

I had really mixed feeling about this book. My first issue, which was all my own fault, I thought this was a book of three paranormal short stories. On the blurb is says 3 romances. What they mean is 3 romances in the same story. Once I got out of that mindset, I tried to enjoy the story.
My next issue was, I was hoping for some creepy, scary paranormal stories, to get in the mood for Halloween. Again, I'll blame that misunderstanding on myself again. There is the mention of ghosts, and people who have abilities like mind reading, but this was not scary at all.
My finale main issue, was the characters. Sometimes I loved them and thought they were great, other times they drove me nuts. The two mains, Liv and Kayla, I liked but they were way to quick to anger. They were not good communicators and always arguing. And considering one was a mind reader, communication should not have been such an issue.
The other couple that you switch to is a M/F pairing. Doug and Marcy. Their storyline was just so, so. I had a hard time picturing them together as Dougie acted so much more immature, than his girlfriend.
The last couple, was the most interesting. I don't want to be too spoiler-ish, but we read about their story from the past. It was definitely the parts with the most excitement. While some of it was tough to read, their story is not very happy, it was the best part of the book for me.
While I feel very torn about how much I actually liked this. It did hold my attention enough that I want to read book 2. They way book 2 sounds, I'm hopefully it will be more up my paranormal alley.

When I started this book I was expecting a hilarious treasure hunt, it however is a mystery cum diehard romantic story. This story is about Kayla and Liv, who come to Cobb's Island with their siblings Marcie and Doug. Kayla who led them to this house had a different motive altogether and wants to do some historical research inside their gigantic family house. Marcie and Doug are enjoying their teenage young love while Kayla and Liv fall in love instantly while they do their research. However there is a 3rd love story in this story and I really fell in love with it, the author kept it open ended for readers to guess which was a very nice way of keeping it interesting.
I love the author's style and this is my second favorite of Blayne Cooper next to Madam President series which is totally awesome with lots of humor.

What I liked about this book is the inspiration in classical literature, gothic touches of old stories that hint at its pages. Poe, perhaps Dickens.
Besides that 1600 story fascinates me much more than the story set in modern times, I admit.
Regardless of the opinion of others, I found a fantastic story and Blayne has increasingly my attention with its enormous creative potential.

Moc se mi líbilo, jak se v knize střídaly dvě dějové linie, které oddělovalo více jak 300 let a přesto byly svým způsobem propojené. A ještě se to tam tak krásně shippovalo! :)

Me gustó, es interesante, bastante adictivo, cada vez que quería dejarlo pensaba solo una página más y cuando quise ver no lo dejé hasta que lo acabé. Lo que encontré más interesante fue la historia de finales de 1600, me fascina esa época.

I stayed up late on a school night to finish this one so I guess that means I enjoyed it. This was primarily because I just had to know what happened to Bridget and Faylynn. Especially Bridget.
There was one thing that really annoyed me about the book and that was the repeated use of the word "friend" during the Liv / Kayla parts. I think "companion" may also have put in an appearance. If I want to read about "friends" and "companions" I will find myself a nice straight gossip rag to read. But I don't, so I don't.
I believe there is a sequel to Cobb Island and I am looking forward to reading it.

Pretty good book and a surprisingly quick read. Most importantly, an interesting plot to go with the lesbian goodness.
