From the charm of collegiate Madison to the beauty of the Wisconsin Dells and Apostle Islands, Moon Handbooks Wisconsin is the guide to the best the state has to offer, both on and off the beaten path. Practical information includes suggested travel strategies and lists of must-see sights, plus essentials on dining, transportation, and accommodations for a range of budgets. Complete with details for enjoying food, drinks, bed-and-breakfasts, hikes, and campsites around Milwaukee, the Great Lakes, and the entire state, Moon Handbooks Wisconsin gives travelers the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience.
This book includes majestic forests and verdant farms to rushing rivers and tranquil lakes in Wisconsin.
It has itineraries, from a weekend in Milwaukee or Madison to a week-long getaway to Door County, with advice for architecture buffs, foods, families, or outdoor adventures.
This also includes museum hopping in trendy Milwaukee, discovering the joys of the open road at the Harley-Davidson museum, and savoring the laidback college town vibe in Madison.
Check out a typical Wisconsin dairy farm and sample fresh bites of cheese or learn how to churn butter with the whole family.
Dig in at a Friday night fish fry and unwind with a locally-brewed craft beer in a historic taproom.
Kayak to sea caves, cycle through rolling hills of apple orchards or hike the rugged cliffs of Devil's Lake.
The best road trips in Wisconsin, including the state's designated Rustic Roads.
The book also gives advice on the many lodging options from hotels to historic bed and breakfasts to lakeside cabins.
I also like how it includes the many recreational opportunities in Wisconsin along with the unique places nearby such as the Wisconsin Dells, which is where we are going.
This is an excellent series, with good ideas about what to do in an area of the country. it has a little bit more historical information than you might see in the Lonely Planet, but not as many low-end restaurant ideas. We got this book when Ethan was getting chemotherapy, because we didn't want to go far, but we wanted to try to enjoy a little bit of life even tho' it was hard to do so.
