I’ve been in love with Hudson Nash my whole life, but he’s too stubborn to admit he wants me too. For a whole bunch of stupid reasons. Like the fact I’m too young. (What’s a twenty-year gap? Age is just a number, am I right?)
And a virgin. (Which he could easily fix!)
And maybe not the best choice, given he and my dad hate each other. (It’s not that ba— Okay, it is that bad, but our love could totally rise above, right? It would be epic!)
I see the way he watches me like a starving man. The heat in his eyes when I flirt with him. The longing that he feels too.
If Hudson won’t stop pushing me away, I’m just going to have to show him what he’s missing.
I’ll flirt with the pretty boy tourists who come my way. Or maybe the gruff but sexy boat tour operators. Heck, I’ll flirt with the dang fish if that’s what it takes for Hudson to make a move.
I’ll be a total dock tease—until Hudson makes me his.
Because I’m not a tease at all. Not for the right man.

Nope ... this is some of the most ridiculous and juvenile writing I've ever encountered. Time is a precious and limited commodity and I refuse to waste another second on this childish (as in giggling 12 year olds) writing ... with the constant infusion of eye-rollingly silly puns, euphemisms, and "in-jokes". You can find more mature lines on any Disney Channel or Nick show. 😒 Full disclosure: The cover pulled me in (I can be shallow like that 😉) but I highly suggest that be as far as you go with this one. SO MANY more books with WAY more quality writing to spend your precious time reading!
Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below. Fisher’s crush on me could probably be seen from space it was so obvious, but as much as he’d grown into a very appealing man, I could not go there with him.
This was very sweet and cute, and had just enough emotional pain to keep it interesting. I’m a huge fan of the ‘dad’s best friend’ trope, but this is the very first ‘dad’s enemy’ book I’ve read. It was a fun twist on a favorite and now I want to read more of the sort.
Both Fisher and Hudson were endearing characters, even though I didn’t expect to love Hudson much. Just goes to show that we don’t have to be young to be insecure or hurt.
The book had excellent small town vibes and I really saw the Ozarks in my head while reading. I’d for sure like to read more about the side characters too, which is rare for me.

Fisher is 21 (gay) and he's had a crush on Hudson, 41 (bi), since he was 16. When Hudson came to town after getting divorced and Hudson took a business opportunity that Fisher's father had been trying to buy into. Hudson and Fisher's dad have been enemies / rivals since. Fisher is a virgin and he wants to be with Hudson, but he's starting to lose his patience over the fact that no one sees him as an independent adult, not his family and not Hudson and not some of the townspeople. He's ready to make a move and if Hudson really doesn't want him he's ready to move on. Hudson is struggling to keep his business afloat and he's dealing with his ex-wife sticking her nose in his life and reminding him of his personal inadequacies, of the reasons why he thinks he's a horrible partner. But he's also attracted to Fisher and he doesn't want Fisher to just be with any a******, he thinks the person should treat Fisher right and while he can't commit to a relationship he can be sexual experimentation for Fisher. They start a hook up relationship.
This was an okay book. There were some things I liked about it. There's quite a cast of memorable characters that are distinctive. I liked fisher, he was pretty mature for his age and he made a lot of sense. There were a lot of deep moments where he confronted things with his dad and with Hudson and he stood up for himself, and a lot of those moments resonated with me and I was cheering him on.
Things I didn't like: - While there was no real risk of either of them cheating, I just didn't like how much of this book was spent on ow/om drama. It was a combination of things. We were constantly reminded that Hudson was regularly having casual hookups before they got together, and Fisher had been pining and bothered, while staying a virgin himself. A major ick for me is one-sided pining where one person grows cobwebs and the other one lives a full life. Let them both live a full life. And Karen, Hudson's ex-wife was a shadow over the entire story. The main plot was Hudson trying to overcome the issues his marriage had left him with and trust himself to be in a relationship. Another ick of mine is when one MC punishes the other MC for something that their ex did - it's not fair, and it casts such a shadow on the new romance. People have pasts, and it can shape who they are, but it sucks when that past is always there and overshadowing the love story, taking over so many pages and moments and making the love story the third or fourth most important part of the book.
- I wasn't a fan of the power dynamic between Hudson and Fisher, when it came to their sex life. It's a major ick for me when one MMC controls all their sexual activities, when that one person decides what they can and cannot do, and ignores the desires of their partner. Even though Hudson has a reason for what he's doing, it is a selfish reason and at times he was giving Fisher a bit of a complex by denying him certain things. And it was not satisfying Fisher the way he wants to be satisfied. It also makes their sex not spontaneous, not as organic and genuine, and that hurts the romance and chemistry in my opinion. It got more equal as time went on and Fisher at the end said he felt grateful for how it played out, but that didn't make me feel more comfortable about what happened already.
- I think the author needs to slow her roll when it comes to the sexual puns in the store names and locations in her books. I know this is a romance book and we should suspend disbelief, but everything about these towns being overly sexualized just makes me feel bad for the fictional residents of the town, I know the author has mentioned having a kid / family friendly menu at some of these restaurants. But like every society, I figure some of these residents have issues with sex and sexuality - think of survivors of sexual assault & abusive relationships, getting triggered every time they want a coffee. You can't have a conversation about places in the small town without a sex pun coming up. The odd place being a sex pun is one thing, but imagine not having a way to avoid, and just not having a safe space for your mental health? This community is supposed to be endearing, but I keep thinking that some of their residents are hurting and it's not sensitive.
Some notable moments:
"“I want you, Hudson, but if you won’t make a move, I’ll have to find someone else.” One moment we were standing chest to chest, and the next I was pinned to the side of the boat, Hudson’s big hand gripping my jaw almost painfully. “Someone else?” he practically growled. “I want my first time to be with you, but if you aren’t available…” He crushed his mouth to mine, kissing me so hard and fast that my head spun."
This was a mature and deep conversation. But this also is one of the reasons why this wasn't my favorite love story. I hate this kind of power dynamic. "“Isn’t it? You talk about what I deserve, how you can’t risk dragging me into some terrible relationship. But what about what I want? I’m not a child. I deserve to be seen as an equal.” “I don’t think of you as a child.” “But you aren’t giving me an equal say in what happens with us either.” “I’m sorry. I just don’t want to hurt you the way I’ve hurt everyone else. You’re too important to me.”"
"“Be nice, Boone.” “I’m nice,” he muttered. “It’s damn nice of me not to…” He trailed off, but I could fill in plenty of potential endings. Nice of me not to castrate him. Nice of me not to kick him out of my house. Nice of me to not stab him in the eye with my fork."
*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.
**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

- age gap (20 years) - father's rival - virgin/first times - small town romance
Fisher Riggins has been in love with his father's rival Hudson Nash since he was a teenager, but as he's gotten older he's seen the way Hudson looks at him... So, Fisher devises a way to shoot his shot and hopes that flirting with tourists will make Hudson admit that he feels the attraction between them and will help take his v-card.
After rescuing Fisher from a disastrous date, Hudson finally caves to the attraction between them and offers to help Fisher with his virginity problem. The more time spent with Fisher in and out of the bedroom has him realizing that maybe his feelings for Fisher might not be so casual after all.
Overall I really loved Fisher and Hudson's story and the small town vibes and minor dramas that ensue, but the pacing was a bit too slow for my liking. That being said, I'm really excited to read about the other couples in this series!
Audio: 5 stars for Iggy Toma and 3.5-4 stars for Alexander Cendese

This is the year of *almost* nothing can be over a 3 star haha!
This started out great, but around 30% I started to get bored, but I wanted to finish a book, so I persevered! Haha hearing the word swallow so many times, because of this town got annoying haha!
I did like how Fisher stood up for himself and wasn’t going to take Hudson’s shit, but idk it felt kinda bland overall.
So this was very similar to what I was looking for when I asked for recommendations similar to Palm Island by KM Neuhold. It was very low angst, very spicy, and even took place in a vacation town. But I didn’t find the writing to be up to par. It was a bit dull. The writing didn’t grab my attention. I found the dialog hard to follow sometimes because there weren’t any “he said/she said.” And I’d have to back track and try to figure out who was talking. What made it worse was that a lot of the characters didn’t have any defining traits and I couldn’t remember who was who. I could remember Hudson and Fisher of course. And Fishers father, Boone. But that was about it. Fisher had a large group of friends and I couldn’t tell any of them apart except that one was a girl, and even that took me awhile to figure out. Her name was Poppy (maybe Piper?) but there was also a boy named Brook so who knows. And don’t even get me started on the name Fisher. 🤦🏻♀️
Over all it was super cute, super spicy, and Fisher was literal Sunshine. Book 2 is not out but I’ll add it to my TBR and see how I feel when it’s released. It’s about one of Fisher’s friends, Brook, and a new rich pretty boy who moved to town.
This book is more real than fiction. It does a great imitation of the real life Lakers and tourists, rich and poor. There is just an attitude and a lifestyle that grows like the fish in the lake and the boats on the water. Both fish and people are trying to snag a better life while having food and fun and sharing the joys of alcohol and love.
It may not be the safest place to party, but it comes close. It is impossible to avoid the boats, the bars, the boys, and the bouys as they circle the covers and race across the water hoping to hook a winner to party with. Making friends is easy. Staying friends is more of a challenge as temptations, greed, drugs, sex, and rock and roll rule the shore.
The water is refreshing and the summers simmer as the sun shimmers across the water until Sundown changes the mood to sharing special moments with someone who cares about you as you relax and prep for events to come like sleep and tomorrow.
But the off season life of the locals is often the best as they snuggle together as the snow falls outside, making driving impossible while keeping warm together is the best thing that they can do besides eat in Swallow Cove.
This book is the first one of the Swallow Cove series and the second novel I read by this author. It's set in a nice little town with two MCs that were sweet and perfect together. Fisher has had a crush on Hudson since the latter arrived at Swallow Cove (what a name for a town, right? LOL). Fisher is young, still lives with his parents (although in a little apartment above the garage) and works at his dad's shop. Swallow Cove is a touristic town and Hudson owns a cruise boat company, he's older than Fisher and even though he's attracted to the young man, he doesn't want to go there as he has a past that still haunts him. I loved Fisher's enthusiasm and determination to get Hudson to be his first. He wanted to lose his virginity to the man he'd been in love with for years and that led to some funny situations. Hudson was so stubborn at first that he really got on my nerves. His baggage showed every time he thought of having something with Fisher as he didn't think he was relationship material. The story, like I said, had funny moments and I loved Fisher's friends as they were the type anyone would want to have. Once Hudson and Fisher got together things became very sweet and romantic, although they sure took their time to get on with it. I liked this book, it was entertaining and a good read, but the pace was too slow for my liking. There was some background plot regarding the town the MCs lived in and even though it was actually what made Hudson and Fisher interact more with each other, it felt like that part of the story was a filler and it only got relevance a few times through the story. Also, at times I felt like nothing was really going on other than Hudson and Fisher spending time having sex and there was no real conflict. Fisher was happy, cheerful and sunshine all the time, he didn't change at all and Hudson's evolution was not big either as he even took Fisher to confront a difficult situation he didn't know how to deal with. Overall, it was a lovely book to read, very well written and with good grumpy/sunshine and small town tropes. I actually can't wait to read about Fisher's friends' stories, mostly Brooks' that got me very intrigued.
I love me some good age gap, unrequited MM romance and this one delivered! Not to mention he is the rival of his father. Oh I ate this up no crumbs left 👄
This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.
This is the first book in Jamison’s Swallow Cove series. This town is small and centered around fishing. It’s really a lovely little place. The small business names alone will bring a smile to your face.
Fisher has a huge crush on Hudson, despite his father’s hatred of him…and the fact that Hudson is twenty years older than him. Hudson is attracted to Fisher, but is reluctant to do anything about it and pushes Fisher away. (Hudson has been burned before and came to Swallow Cove after the fallout of his marriage). Fisher comes up with a plan to flirt in front of Hudson to show him what he’s missing… and it eventually works!
I loved the progression of Hudson and Fisher’s relationship from casual friends to lovers to boyfriends. It’s a really sweet story about accepting people both as they are and where they are. Fisher doesn’t guilt trip Hudson like his ex did and Hudson gives Fisher the support he needs in relation to both business and pleasure.
The cast of characters in this book is great. I love Fisher’s friend group. I’m curious to see what happens between Cash and Declan. Also, I can’t wait to see what goes down between Brooks and Skylar in Pretty Buoy (up next in the series)! The little feud between Pearl and Ruth Marie gave me live! I was so happy that Boone came around on Hudson.
Both MCs grow in this book and Hudson finds a way to heal and gain back some of the peace he lost throughout his marriage and divorce. Hudson and Fisher have a strong connection, intense chemistry, and unyielding love for one another. It warmed my heart to see them get their well deserved HEA.
Fisher has had a crush on Hudson for years, and has wanted to lose his virginity with him, someone he’s trusts. Hudson feels the spark between them too, but doesn’t think he’s any good at relationships and doesn’t want to hurt Fisher.
But when he sees Fish flirting with other guys, he decides he wants to give him a good experience and they start to hook up.
Meanwhile, Fisher’s Dad isn’t listening to his ideas and everyone sees him as a kid, so helping Hudson with a dock hop event and promoting a renewal of an old resort being in business helps him feel he’s making a difference.
When Fisher tries to angle for more, knowing they have feelings for each other, Hudson is afraid to try and Fisher leaves. But Hudson realizes he’s not the same man who made mistakes with his ex, and they reconcile, telling Fish’s Dad the news and going public.
Fisher makes a mistake in trusting some developers, but with some help from Skylar and his contacts, creates a new plan to revitalize the resort that the townspeople can agree upon.
A good story, but I think Hudson’s ex was portrayed a bit too harshly, though Hudson took on guilt he head to work through as well. I see more stories coming for Cash, Sawyer, and Brooks in this new series.
I received this ARC for free and am giving it my honest review in thanks.
It's quite disappointing when you follow your favorite authors through several channels to try and keep on top of their releases and yet somehow I found this book was out now that the second in the series is also coming out. Technology truly failed me on that. It had to be remedied, of course. And better late than never, because I enjoyed it. I like Fisher and Hudson as characters. And I like how they somehow manage to balance themselves out in such a way that it doesn't feel like the age gap creates a power imbalance, which is important to me in age gap stories. I'm looking forward to getting to book two now. I like Swallow cove as a setting
I adore DJ Jamison's books and this was such a sweet story. It's a great start to a new series. This is a virgin, age gap and grumpy/sunshine story between Fisher and Hudson. Fisher has been in love with Hudson for years but Hudson has always been reluctant to flirt back due to the 20 years age gap and his feud with Fisher's dad. But Fisher is determined to win him over. When they start working together on an event and it becomes harder for Hudson to stay away from Fisher. Their relationship is very sweet and I loved the community feel in the story too. I look forward to reading the next story.
Another terrific book (the first in a new series) by one of my favorite m/m authors!
Fisher has had a deep crush on older Hudson Nash for ages. But the 20 year age gap negates anything from happening between them accept and occasional "Hello."
Not helping Fisher's situation is the fact that his dad and Hudson despise each other.
But Fisher may be young, but he's determined to make Hudson not only notice him, but make the older man his. He begins by flirting with any handsome tourist that visit Swallow Cove to make Hudson jealous. But after a disasterous date goes incredibly wrong, Fisher finds himself rescued by the man of his dreams, Hudson.
And so begins a tense and secretive relationship between Fisher and Hudson. Hudson is not surprised to learn Fisher is a young virgin. He carefully, gradually and lovingly eases Fisher into the maze of sex and sexual devices, leaving the young man wanting more.
Written with wonderful world building, excellent dialogue and a glorious tenderness, the author brings together two of the most unlikely people into a loving relationship. But not without it's ups and downs. Boone, Fisher's dad, is a constant thorn in both of their sides. And the townspeople still regard Hudson as an "outsider" although he has lived and worked in Swallow Cove for five years. Additionally, the majority of the townsfolk frown upon gays and lesbians, expressing their outright disdain for them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to both the author's readers as well as readers of the m/m genre.

Dock Tease was a fun and sweet start to the Swallow Cove series!
Written in DJ Jamison's usual style, this story was a light-hearted and low angst romance full of humour and innuendoes. I loved how Fisher knew who he wanted and went for it, he was so determined to turn his crush on Hudson into something more. Hudson was a bit hesitant, there was a 20 year age gap between them and a feud going on between Hudson and Fisher's father, so he had his reasons. However, it didn't take Fisher too long to wear down Hudson's resistance by teasing and flirting.
They were really sweet together, and I loved how supportive and encouraging Hudson were when it came to Fisher and his ambitions. This was a couple that made me smile a lot! While Fisher had been crushing on Hudson for years, and was very sure of what he wanted, it took Hudson a little longer to realise that he had feelings for Fisher and that their initial agreement to just hook up had turned into something else.
Dock Tease had a lot of tropes that I love, and it was a sweet and light read with an adorable couple. I really enjoyed the community and small town that was introduced here - there were a lot of interesting characters introduced and I'm already eager to find out what's going on between Skylar and Brooks!
- Thanks to Neon Rainbow ARC Reviews for the opportunity to read and review this book. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
What a fun way to kick off a new series! Huge fan of age gap romances when the younger one has a better head in his shoulders. Fisher has always had eyes for Hudson, even when he was feuding with his dad. He puts himself out there, and yes, it's not always smooth sailing, but in the end, it all works out for the best. Once these two get it right, they get it right, such a fun and hot relationship! Swallows Cove now is an ensemble of unique characters that I personally can not wait to get to know more of. You have crazy octogenarian who cause more trouble than grown adults should. A friend/family group that will do anything to see each other happy, what's not to love? It's an all in all great cast with punny shop names that just keeps you hooked in.
Dock Tease is everything I enjoy about DJ Jamison’s books - it’s sweet, full of funny/quirky small town things and has a fun group of characters that I can’t wait to learn more about throughout the series. Fisher and Hudson’s story was a great introduction to all the weirdness that is Swallow Cove!
Fisher Riggins has been in love with his dad’s rival since he made his way into town years ago. He works in his dad’s lake supply shop while finishing his college degree, something that’s given him ideas on how to move the shop and the town forward, but no one wants to give him the time of day. Fisher wants to make Swallow Cove a place where younger people can build a life, starting with the town’s defunct resort. He’s desperate for everyone to see him as an adult with good ideas of his own and uses his reputation around town and his charismatic ways to get people on board with his ideas, including Hudson.
Hudson Nash has been an outsider in the Swallow Cove community since he moved into town, but he’s dedicated to helping to make the town a thriving place to be, not only for his boat touring business, but for the residents themselves too. After leaving a marriage and a stressful career behind, lake life appeals to him in a way he never expected. He works a lot to keep his business afloat, but he loves to be out on the water, so it’s not much of a hardship…plus he can stop in to see Fisher whenever he needs to refuel.
If Fisher had his way, these two would have been together long before it actually happened, but he had to use his charisma and charm on Hudson to make him see how good they could be together. Once Hudson agrees to help Fisher gain more experience while they work on the Dock Hop project together. While there’s a 20 year age gap and a feud between Hudson and Fisher’s father between them, they couldn’t be a better match - they’re adorable together and support each other through all kinds of crazy things. They make each other happy and their interactions made me smile.
Really looking forward to more Swallow Cove craziness in the future!
I love DJ's books and how they instantly draw you in. Hudson owns a fleet of boats for tourism. Fisher works in his father's store and has crushed on Hudson for years, always flirting. Hudson is interested but hesitant due to their age gap, Fisher's Dad hates him and he's bad at relationships. Fisher is optimistic sunshine and pursues Hudson relentlessly. Hudson introduces the virginal Fisher to a lot of sexy first times when he finally caves. It's another great book in a long list of DJ's with a grumpy/ sunshiny couple who can't keep their hands off each other in a small town where everyone knows everything. I received a copy of this book through Neon Rainbow and this is my honest opinion.
I really hate writing a less than stellar review of an author I normally enjoy, but this one felt flat somehow. I didn't love the way she's setting up for the following stories in the series, for one; it felt so obviously contrived. I also couldn't get over the box of loose fishing lures that Fisher had to bag up, one by one. Since fishing lures usually come with hooks, I can only imagine this as a scenario for bleeding, not boredom, and I never saw a shipment of fishing lures, even local craftsman made, that didn't come already packaged for sale. The boring part was putting a price tag on each one. Besides grammar and spelling errors (which this story was blessedly free of, for a wonder), and the word c*m rather than come, my pet peeve is tossing out complete baloney without regard to its likelihood of being real. Research your filler "facts", or set your story in the fantasy realm.
However, my primary disappointment was that this tale fell into the "could have been fabulous, but just didn't sing" category, and I really can't explain the feeling.
I love a good age gap, and this one was ok. The added element of the love interest being the dad's rival was a nice touch. There wasn't really anything that special about either of the characters. Hudson's self flagellation over his mistakes was a bit annoying after awhile, but it served its purpose. I really loved how Fisher stood up for his town and garnered the support he needed from Hudson and his father. Overall a good start to this series.
I absolutely adored this book and was hooked from the start. I loved the punny place names which made me giggle as I was reading it. The relationship between Fisher and Hudson was so sweet and I loved how they both worked through their issues as the story progressed. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Swallow Cove!
I was all ready to trash this book but it turned out pretty good. Karen could've been left to two pages and even that is too much. It would've been good to find out more about the resort but maybe later. Oh, the fire between Fisher and Hudson, is scorching! Age doesn't mean a thing when you know, you know.
Dock Tease is the first book in the Swallow Cove series by DJ Jamison. This is the story of Fisher and Hudson. I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
This is long time crush to more romance, featuring Hudson and Fisher, and is book one in the Swallow Cove series.
Fisher has had a crush on Hudson since he moved to Swallow Cove, and does everything he can to flirt with Hudson. An opportunity presents itself for Fisher to work closely with Hudson and Fisher jumps at the chance and then jumps on Hudson with a surprise kiss. It then opens the floodgates for sexy shenanigans.
This book is a light, low angst read. Fisher and Hudson have off the charts chemistry, and support each other to make the most of their businesses and relationship. The secondary characters were supportive and all the punny cove names were hilarious, I can’t wait to read Skylar’s book and Cash’s book.
I’ve read a few of DJ Jamison’s books now and have enjoyed them all. Highly recommend.
Things to expect in this MM romance are: Long time crush to more Small town Low angst Age-gap (41/21) Virgin MC First times Dirty talk & spicy times Docking (not the boat kind) Supportive family & friends Punny cove names HEA
Puns, age gap, tension and a little suspense come together in Dock Tease to give us our first glimpse of DJ Jamison's new town - Swallow Cove. I had fun reading about Fisher and Hudson, finding out about the Weekend Hookers, and the other fun town names and finding out about how the town and the story unfolded.
I had fun reading it, but some of the puns pulled me away from the romance and the rhythm of the story - but now that I know more about it, the next book should be a smoother read.
wasn’t sure going into this book if Shallow Cove could stand up again Granville. I absolutely adore that town and the characters and it was hard to let go after it ended. But there was no reason for me to worry cause Jamison did an amazing job bringing this book and town and all of its amazing and quirky characters to life and made me fall in love with them just as more as the people of Granville did.
If you never read the two series that evolves around Granville you don’t need to worry you can jump right into this book without any hesitation and not get lost. You won’t miss anything from not reading those books but I do recommend that if you want the full experience and all the easter eggs that this author throws into her books then I definitely recommend starting from the beginning. It’s really a lot of fun.
In this book we get to meet Hudson and Fisher. If you read the end of Don’t Bang Your Stepbro then you already met Fisher. He’s Becks cousin and he comes to visit towards the end of that book. We get to learn that he’s pinning over someone back in Shallow Cove. When the book starts we get to learn that he had a crush on this man every since he was sixteen and had recently gotten bolder with his flirting and pushing Hudson to see him as a man and not a kid.
Hudson is a new character and he recently moved to Shallow Cove five years prior and runs his own boating company. Due to this he isn’t on friendliest terms with Fishers dad due to him also wanting the boating company and felt Hudson stole it away from him. He is divorced and with that has caused a lot of guilt and regret in his life. This is one of the reasons he doesn’t think he is good enough for Fisher and thinks he is damaged and won’t be a good boyfriend.
The story evolves around Fisher and Hudson coming to terms with their attraction for one another and deciding to become casual and only have a sexual relationship and nothing more. This quickly turns into something more and we see these two men come to realize their strong feelings for one another and coming to terms that yes they want more with each other and want a future but it won’t be easy.
When it comes to the story building and process I think it was done really well. Everything was fleshed out beautifully and nothing felt dragged out or unnecessary. I enjoyed the build up between both Fisher and Hudson but also seeing the struggles that Shallow Cove is currently going through and seeing them want better for their town and working towards that and the struggles they go through. It was the perfect balance between side conflicts, seeing them becoming closer and also seeing small glimpses into what is going on with Fishers friends.
I enjoyed that the struggles that Hudson goes through in this book is realistic and believable. He struggled with the age gap in the beginning and it took him time to realize that it doesn’t matter as long as they both love each other and are adults and can make their own decisions.
I really loved how supportive and caring Hudson was with Fisher. At times it might have seemed like he saw him as a kid but he really respected him and his opinions. Asked for his help and advice and was always there to support him whenever anything happened. But he also celebrated him whenever anything good happened to him and shared in all the moments. He was so patience and he took his time to give Fisher a good first time and not rush it. Always putting his needs first.
I liked how out spoken Fisher was. Once he made up his mind he went for it but always having a kindness to him, a brightness that he never let dimmed. He spoke his mind with Hudson and his father and made steps towards the future and I really admired that about him. He knew what he wanted and didn’t let anyone tell him otherwise.
I really enjoyed the time we got to meet and get to know some of Fishers friends and honestly can’t wait to explore more about them and their happily ever afters in their own books.
Overall I really loved how everything played out in this book. Everything flowed really well and I enjoyed my time getting to know this new town and everyone that lives there. I’m really excited to read Skylar book next with Brookes. We met Skyler once before in an another book and I’ve been looking forward to reading about him ever since and can’t wait to see him get his happily ever after. If you didn’t read the bonus scene at the end of the book I highly recommend it cause it shows how Hudson and Fisher a little bit later and what they have been up too and we get to see Beck and Wes for a little bit as well and that just made it even better.
