Louie the Rune Soldier #1

Louie the Rune Solider, Vol. 1

Rate this book
Few would consider Louie to be a sorcerer - especially Melissa, Merrill and Genie. (After all, what kind of sorcerer spends his time drinking at bars and beating the stuffing out of the local street toughs?)But much to the chagrin of these three gorgeous female adventurers, divine will has dictated that Louie, the enchanter-gone-street fighter, is in fact a prophesized hero - who they must pledge themselves to serve! Could this bad-boy possibly have what it takes to be a hero? Or has the war god Mylee made a mistake? With a bevy of babes at his side, Louie launches into a series of adventures that range from the harrowing to the bizarre. Get ready for swords, magic, and lots of black eyes and broken noses, because when Louie fights, it's no holds barred!

Although short at 4 volumes this is a really good series that I wish more people knew about. If you enjoy shonen manga, comedy and magic you'll love this.

DNF'd this. It had a very average plot - idiot man who uses brawn over brains in fights, gropes women, and drinks to eccess, who ends up surrounded by women and is the hero. The art style was really nice though.

Contains minor spoilers, but tagged.

I watched the anime and read the manga years ago, and just rewatched the anime, but the manga was fairly true to the anime (at least as I recall it). Both the anime and manga are really fun to watch/read. They don't take themselves too seriously, but even so the story is interesting. The best part though is the humour.

Both the manga and anime are very funny and exciting. I was surprised to see a book 5 of this series on goodreads considering how old books 1 to 4 are. I will definitely be reading it if I can get hold of a copy.
