Drama with a capital “D”, but in a good way. In a very engaging book way. This is book two in a series following one couple, Wil and El, so they are already in a romantic relationship at the beginning of this book. They face a lot of change as Wil reluctantly builds a relationship with his biological father, and El takes on work to further her music career. The relationship between Wil and El is so sweet and I was very engrossed in the ups and downs they experienced, both together and separated. “She is the woman I’d do anything for. She is the person I want to be with rain or shine, money or not, busking on the streets of Bremen or singing with on the largest stages in the world.” There are great secondary characters and the family dynamics are complicated but so interesting. (And seriously, how cute is the baby’s nickname?) Wil faced some big changes in his life with his father becoming part of it. Also, El, in particular, had some growing up to do in this story. At times it was painful for her and other characters as she reconciled her fears with her reality and her dreams. “‘For as long as I’ve known El, her face and words have been plastered on the pages of magazines and in celebrity gossip shows. They are the mirror she sees her reflection in.” I loved the grand gesture at the end. “Maybe I’m not done being afraid, but I could be done letting my fears guide my life.” While I know there is more to come in Will and El’s story, it felt very satisfying and didn’t leave the reader on a big cliffhanger.

This story contains Dyslexia representation, traumatic death of a parent, accident, perceived parental abandonment, anxiety, chronic illness, and so on. Since the books in this series are all part of the story of one couple, the best experience is to read the series in order. (Although I do think that this book contains enough of its own story arc to be read alone if one really wanted to and could accept not fully knowing some of the backstory.) There are also some ties to other series by these authors, but it is not necessary to read them before enjoying this book. This an open door romance with moderate innuendo and strong harsh language throughout.

Book 2 is DELICIOUS. Everything I could have hoped for after the first part of this series and more.

The DRAMAAAAA. I wanted to throw my phone when I read this ARC so many times. In a good way, I promise. I was so excited and anxious in equal measure. Willadrew have a way with keeping my emotions on a constant tilt-a-whirl. The choices made in this are both romantic and youthful. A bit stupid. A bit sweet. A bit sad and realistic at times. The balancing act and emotional decisions and moments really hit home in this one. It’s a true delight!

5/5 for sure!

Gets a bit spoilery here, so read with caution! El and Wil wander back to his hometown and spend some much needed time together doing all of the things that make them happiest—make music, vibe together, and generally just ACT THEIR AGE. Which was a refreshing dip into normalcy I’d been craving for them.

But of course, as with all slow burn romances these two goofs complicate matters for themselves, go momentarily viral—and once again El is back in the spotlight and her step-dad and Wil’s bio dad is making proposals of his own that just so happens to get them apart. I am preparing myself for the chaos and angst in book three. I cannot wait! I’m DYING for the DRAMA I just KNOW is waiting for me. Will they be able to survive the choices they’ve made in the next book? I hope so. I think these two have some of the best chemistry in this interconnected world I’ve read so far!

El and Wil are back for book 2, sequel to We Blend , recommend read that first but they pretty much catch up in this book. The thrills and spills of fame. Told through the eyes of a couple who make sweet music together…. El is given an opportunity as a backup singer so off she pops, leaving Wil behind. He spends some time getting to know his Rockstar biological father who just so happens to be El’s stepfather. Forced apart and with their relationship very much hidden from the world, Wil is sick of hiding , meanwhile El is finding that the covet music fame isn’t all roses and rainbows and she’s missing her Beau… brilliant!! Love these two , can’t wait for book 3 already! Great writing partnership that is sublime, fluent and engaging storytelling a very immersive experience Bravo WillaDrew

This is the continuation of Wil and El's story. The author once again brings strong characters with a strong chemistry and a slow burn romance. She pulled me in and kept me turning the pages right to the end. Her scenes are painted perfectly and the story moves fluidly. She delivers a beautiful story.

We Breathe picks up where the first book left off, following El and Wil as they escape the pressures of fame and hide away in Germany. They find peace and creativity together, but their brief holiday is interrupted when their secret is exposed, and both face life-changing decisions about their future. Wil must return to America to help his mother, while El has a career opportunity that doesn’t include him. Their relationship is tested as they promise to survive the distance.

While the story had a slow start after the resolution of the first book's cliffhanger, I still found it to be a solid sequel. The pacing didn’t capture my attention as much, but the focus on Wil and El's personal growth made up for it. Watching both characters navigate their challenges and frustrations felt realistic and added depth to their love story.

I especially enjoyed Wil’s development in this book. He continues to be a wonderful, supportive character, and I loved seeing his emotional struggles as he tries to balance love and family. The vivid descriptions made the scenes easy to visualize, and at times, it felt like watching a movie. Overall, while it lacked the fast pace of the first book, We Breathe still kept me invested, and I’m looking forward to what’s next for Wil and El.

There are so many good things to like about the next book in Wil and El’s story. They’re navigating real hard life problems while trying to navigate their feelings, career, future and family. This book is perfect for anyone who loves an emotional roller coaster ride!

I really wish that I could have rated this book higher than 3 stars. This could have been a really great book if El could figure herself out. I loved the character development, except for El. While everyone was growing as individuals and trying to make the best of their situations, El continually brought everyone down. I’m really hoping that she improves her outlook on things in We Balance.
