The series is starting to grow on me. As the story continues, I’m finding myself more interested and engaged.

Volume three has a lot of things happening. It’s an overlap of events and characters continuing from volumes one and two. While Grid learns to take over Khan’s smithy, he gains Pagma’s quest and things are becoming more fierce with the Yatan clan. Although Grid is primarily focused on advancing his blacksmith skills, we finally get to see him fight and this wouldn’t be the last time. The plot is finally progressing and it’s starting to become interesting.

Personally, I felt like the character’s facial expressions kept me entertained the most because they added a comedic element to an otherwise common storyline. Grid is already starting to become overpowered and it’s only because he has bad luck that he doesn’t notice it yet. I also like how the manhwa uses the game panels to keep the reader aware of Grid’s stats from time to time. They are incorporated into the story instead of feeling out of place.

Volume three sees many new and returning characters. The pacing of this manhwa is good which allows for characters to turnover once their role is done. I liked how the manhwa actually gives them a proper closure instead of making the character disappear or simply never cross paths. The designs of each character are unique and I enjoyed how they each had a different class and were strong.

Although this is an action manhwa, the scenes are a little underwhelming. I felt like aside from the artwork not being descriptive and smooth during fight scenes, the paneling was also a problem. The paneling doesn’t compliment the action scenes. It doesn’t help them stand out or feel dramatic. Instead I felt like it underscores the scenes by utilizing the same repetitive panel sizes for each phase of an action sequence.

Overall, I enjoyed volume three and am looking forward to volume four. The story seems to be picking up and I appreciate how Grid, although strong, isn’t fighting right away. Instead he’s advancing his blacksmith skills to make higher quality items while also helping his family back in the real world. I like the real world touch and I hope the story continues showcasing many sides of Grid both in the virtual and real world.
