Pieta has been stripped of her powers and her memories, which would seem to be pretty awful or something. Danae tries to get her back to normal and then a bunch of fights happen before the government shows up and a mad bomber goes on the loose.
In case previous reviews didn’t make it clear, this story has completely divested itself of any logic, whether external or internal, and just operates utterly by the seat of its pants or dresses or whatever.
There are some actual decent moments in here, frankly. The eye thing turns out to be a very useful visual cue for when Pieta loses her abilities and gets stuck in the drudgery of whatever this wonky place is.
When she gets her powers back, spoiler, and has to come to rescue her friends (who apparently lose all competency the instant the story requires them to), she makes one hell of an entrance and there’s a wild scene where she flicks up the melted (?) metal on the roof of a car like it was rain water.
That set piece is probably the high point of the volume, as the scoundrel girls from before get seven shades of stuffing beaten out of them. Or do they? Naïveté aside, I really actually thought the ending of this part was quite good.
Of course, then the cops show up (that wasn’t a joke) and everybody gets arrested and then somebody starts to explode buildings and our only hope might be these girls and that one guy shouting that maybe they shouldn’t rely on these kids might carry more weight if he hadn’t just had one shot out of the air for flying unaided.
It. Is. A. Lot.
You could certainly argue that this is really all par for the course for innumerable magical girl stories, but I think those tend to be in on the joke and I’m still utterly unconvinced that this one isn’t taking itself completely seriously.
After a certain point, you need to be able to explain yourself and while that appears to be on the horizon, I cannot imagine it being at all satisfactory. Where this has gone since the rather excellent opening chapters is utterly nonsensical and if this does have an explanation they should have dropped part of it into the story ages ago.
It has an audacity that I certainly respect - there’s absolutely no pandering to trends here. This is clearly the work of somebody drawing whatever they want and damn the consequences, which is always rather satisfying even if the product proper is not.
2.5 stars - ugh, I just don’t know. Those good bits are really good, but I look at this and can’t see myself recommending it seriously. You really need to be of a particular mindset to enjoy this and it is not for everybody.

Ce manga a tout de suite su me plaire. Dès les premières pages du premier tome, j’étais déjà conquise. L’univers est fascinant et ne cesse de nous surprendre. Coffee Moon c’est une de mes meilleures découvertes de ces dernières années. J’avais hâte de découvrir ce qu’allait nous réserver ce cinquième tome. Au vue des événements du tome précédent, j’étais si curieuse et surtout si impatiente d’en apprendre plus. Je n’ai pas été déçue pour le coup, ce tome est tout simplement incroyable de la première à la dernière page.
Dans ce cinquième tome, Pieta a été envahie par le désespoir après avoir été frappée par une ombre. Suite à cette mésaventure, elle a retrouvé son quotidien de jeune fille comme les autres. Le problème, c’est que Danae n’a pas l’air dans son état normal. On dirait aussi qu’elle s’est fait de nouvelles amies totalement inconnues ! Perplexe, Pieta observe le petit groupe de loin… Danae invite Pieta à une sortie entre filles pour revivre le jour de son anniversaire. C’est alors que deux silhouettes apparaissent et les dévisagent avec insistance…
On retrouve Pieta qui a tout oublié après avoir été frappé par une ombre. Elle retrouve sa vie d’avant mais elle sent tout de même au fond d’elle que quelque chose ne va pas. Danae la retrouve avec les filles sauf que Pieta ne se souvient pas de qui elles sont.. Elles vont donc tout faire pour essayer de lui rendre la mémoire. J’ai trouvé ce tome bourré de révélations, d’action, de retournements de situation etc. Je ressors de ma lecture avec encore plus de questions qu’avant pour le coup.. C’est surtout les pouvoirs des filles qui m’intriguent le plus. Pourquoi en ont elles? Pourquoi elles justement? D’où ça vient? et j’en passe. Je suis impatiente de découvrir la suite des aventures de Pieta et les autres parce que j’ai cruellement besoin de réponses pour le coup. J’aime tellement le personnage de Pieta, elle est adorable et si gentille. C’est vraiment quelqu’un qui voit le bien même chez les « mauvaises » personnes et j’admire vraiment ce trait de caractère chez elle!

J’aime vraiment beaucoup ce manga et je suis toujours impatiente d’avoir la suite entre mes mains. J’adore l’univers fantastique comme ça, les personnages haut en couleurs et j’en passe. Si vous ne connaissez pas ce manga, je ne peux que vous le conseiller!

Seriously…. What is this magical girl version of Die Hard? Not impressed but I’ll find the rest of the series online and make a clear decision if this series is worth it or not. Maybe, I should’ve stopped after they made it to the next day.
