Very informative book on the nature of maintaining and attaining healthy Black hair. I'm going to follow Shamboosie's advice and hope to have updates in 2-3 months. Results pending I may give the book 5 stars!

The premise is simple: Beautiful Black Hair. Shamboosie seeks to dispel myths, inform, and instill a need in women to ask questions and seek the best! While at times Shamboosie can be repetitive (I got it after the first two chapters that No-Lye relaxers are EVIL) and he can go back on some of the things he says (he says that you should NEVER get a chemical relaxer/curl and permanent hair coloring in the same day, but then says that is IS actually possible with the right care) overall the information makes sense, helps you to care for your hair better and also enlightens you as to whom you should trust when it comes to the hair care process. I know after reading what he said that I was upset at past stylists for giving me lip service and not helping me build healthy hair while noting the many successes and minor faults of my current stylist (we will be having a major talk when I next see her). I'd recommend this to ALL Black women or people who take care of Black hair as he speaks about natural hair maintenance as well as chemically treated hair. Even if you may not follow his advice like the Ten Commandments it's always better to be informed and to have an idea of what you should be asking, using, and looking out for.
