In the book “ DEATH NOTE” by Tsugumi Ohba a high school student light yagami gets ahold of a book that allows you to kill people by writing their name in it. that was dropped by a shinigami, a shinigami is a demon that kills you when it is your time. The shinigami goes into the human realm to find the book. Once the shinigami caught up with light he was told about his plan to eradicate all evil from the world, so together they worked together to fulfill this plan by hiding behind his front of being the innocent son of the police chief. This plan however is made slightly difficult by a genius investigator by the name of L. L is unknown to everybody, no one knows what he looks like or what his real name is; this gives him the advantage to avoid dying to the book. Everything goes smoothly till light and his family are getting investigated to see if they’re the suspect. Light avoids suspicion for a while but his actions are perfect, almost too perfect. That's where the book ends.

Deathnote follows high school student Light Yigami and upon finding the Deathnote, much of his life begins to change as he realizes he has the power to control whether people live or die. I love all the style of this manga and the story is absolutely incredible and keeps you pulled in and engaged. My favorite line is “The real evil is the power to kill people. Someone who finds himself with that power is cursed. No matter how you use it, anything obtained by killing people can never bring true happiness.” which I love as its incredibly thought provoking and definitely made me really think about what I would do if I harbored that power. Truly a brilliant story, would 100% recommend it.

Honestly I love the book. But I also love the manga series. I shall not do spoilers I have watched all of the seasons of Deathnote and I feel like there are more details in the book than in the show. In the show L's hair is black though and honestly more attractive. Lights hair is blonde in the show. It's just slightly different.

I loved it! Unpredictable, dark book. I wasn't able to predict the ending and that doesn't happen often

This is not the version I read but I don't have time to search for the black editions of Deathnote. I re read it after I watched the Netflix film Deathnote which was similar to the manga books with however nothing manga added. In fact the story is so westernised that it becomes a parody of the Deathnote series of supernatural brilliant manga books / graphic novels/ comics depending on your age comics tend to have different names now. I grew up reading comic books as we kids called them, they were named the Jackie , Misty and other girl names but came out once a month and generally had a detective girl as the heroine and she'd solve mysteries while dealing with hormones and boys and parents etc . Deathnote was a much better feisty modern version of these series and I loved every single book. The film was terrible but then if you read the book first most films are terrible.
Netflix was on free offer and I took the months offer but all it did was remind me why I don't own a 📺 I watched three films half of about six different series people rave about and I didn't find anything that interested me. The only reason I can think people watch tv is maybe they don't have time to read or maybe they can't read
