Heroes exist. Let a Janie Crouch book prove it to you.
I think, as women, we can all admit that there's been at least one time we've been completely at a loss as to how to form coherent sentences when we're anywhere in the vicinity of a certain man. There's just something about that person that reduces you to mush.
For Molly, that man is Derek. Molly is a very competent, intelligent forensic scientist and Derek is a Tactical Teams Specialist. They both work for Omega and the fact that Molly gets flustered whenever Derek is around has become a well known fact. What everyone doesn't know is that Derek and Molly spent an intense night together three years ago and that Derek reciprocates their continued attraction. He's just better at hiding it. In Molly's eyes, this just proves to her that it was a one time thing and seeing as how Derek wasn't quite sober that night, she believes he doesn't even remember their time together.
After Derek convinces Molly to process two potentially vital important pieces of evidence, to which Derek's friends and co-workers relentlessly tease him over his persuasion abilities, there's an explosion at the lab and Derek is literally terrified that he's lost Molly.
When it becomes apparent that Molly is being targeted due to what she may know, Derek instantly goes into protective mode and vows to keep Molly safe. Of course, this means that they're alone, in close quarters. Derek can no longer fight his feelings for her, though he's still worried about the darkness inside of him eclipsing her goodness.
Will Molly get Derek to see that he's a good man? That while he may have made questionable decisions in his past during his military service, he's a changed man who would now take a different path in the same situation. Can Derek keep Molly safe and uncover the bad guys and those framing Molly? Now that Derek has accepted and outwardly admitted his true feelings for Molly, is their a future for them?
This is the first book in the new spin-off series from the original Omega Sector collection and I can already tell I'm going to love this series just as much as I've loved everything else Janie has written. I highly recommend this author, this book, this series. Go one-click now and get comfortable, because this book is hard to put down.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
Special forces Savior was a great romantic suspense. The author doesn't waste time and jumps right into the action. Its a bit of a whodunit as well. You've got terrorism, kidnapping, drug cartels, and more. I love that Molly is an educated girl in a science profession. I always love heroines with intelligent careers! I struggled to warm up to Derek and his friends. They were kind of jerks about Molly (not entirely making fun of her, but they weren't exactly nice either). However, it did make me instantly love Molly because you can relate to her so well!
Good mix of romance and action. Derek and his fellow agents Jon and Liam have been working hard trying to find out who is behind a recent terrorist attack, but every lead so far has been a dead end. Then they find some evidence that could be just what they need, if someone can recover the data. This is where Molly comes in. She is the lead forensic scientist for Omega Sector and brilliant at what she does.
I loved Molly. She is fantastic at what she does, but she is also a bit shy and especially awkward around Derek. She has had a crush on him for years that has her stuttering and stumbling whenever she is around him, and that really frustrates her. But there's little she won't do for him and she promises to work on his project as soon as she can. She and Derek had had a fantastic night together three years earlier, but ever since then Derek has kept his distance. She's not sure he even remembers it.
I liked Derek too. He is just as attracted to her, but is determined to protect her from getting involved with someone like him. He is very protective of her, and I really enjoyed how he fussed at her about eating and also at his friends for their teasing. He cares about her, but doesn't want his past having an effect on her.
Derek's feelings for Molly become obvious to everyone when there is an explosion at the lab and then she is kidnapped. I loved the look at the methods used to find her, and the intensity of Derek's determination. The rescue itself was exciting and Molly really showed how strong she was. When they return it is to discover that Molly is still being targeted, and Derek's protective instincts continue to show. As much as Derek wants to keep Molly safe from others and from himself, Molly is equally determined to show Derek that who he is now is different than the one that haunts his dreams.
The suspense of the story was great. Derek, Jon and Liam's frustration is obvious as all their efforts come to nothing. I could feel their excitement when they found that one piece of evidence, and their confidence that Molly would be able to get the necessary information. The lab explosion and Molly's kidnapping ramped up the intensity, as did the bad guy's attempt to frame Molly for it. It was pretty clear from the beginning that there was someone on the inside working against them, and following along with the investigation kept me hooked. There was an unexpected twist at the end that brought more danger to Molly and some intense action before it was all over. I'm looking forward to Jon and Liam's stories.
So, right off the bat I identified with Molly-scientific female leads are always easy for me to connect with, and Molly's character exhibits attributes I find in myself. She's also strong and brave, and committed to doing the right thing. And oh, I loved Derek. He's your typical alpha male "I'm not good for you" guy that of course we all want to keep for ourselves.
This story is packed with plenty of action and suspense right from the start. There's also romantic tension between Molly and Derek (some of which is downright cute), but don't pick this up thinking you're going to be getting down and dirty--those scenes are all behind closed doors...so what you'll "see" is pretty tame, though still contributes quite a bit to the story.
The story keeps you on your toes, and will keep you guessing as to who the perpetrators behind everything really are. The story also features some great supporting characters, and I'm intrigued to see if Liam and Jon get their own stories since I really liked their characters here in this book.
For me, since this story dealt much more heavily in the action and suspense as opposed to the romance (compared to most of what I read), this was a solid 4-star read. I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the romantic suspense genre--you will not be disappointed!
I loved this book and all the characters that were in it. You can’t help but love Molly. She is the lead forensic scientist for Omega. She works long hours, and wears sensible shoes. She is brilliant but when Derek is anywhere near her she stutters, and acts like a silly school girl. She has had a crush on Derek for years. Derek also likes Molly, but has tried to keep his distance from her.
Derek and his fellow agents have been trying to find out who is behind the recent terrorist attack. Just when they get close the terrorist set the house on fire to burn all the evidence. Derek was able to save a few pieces of evidence. He asked Molly to process the evidence. This is when the book heats up. The action, and suspense was fantastic. Molly’s life was in danger, and Derek and his team worked to save her. The romance between Molly, and Derek was endearing. Molly really was a strong heroine. She went through a lot, and never once complained. Derek would have traded his life for hers at any moment to save her. This was a book that was hard to put down. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Derek and Molly work together. She’s the forensic lab genius at Omega Sector while he’s part of the Tactical Specialist Team. He’s a loner and has a dark past. When evidence is critical to a bombing he, and his team are investigating he turns to Molly. It’s crutial that it’s handled ASAP! She’s somewhat tongue tied around him. His other teammates think it’s a joke until something horrible happens to her.
I absolutely this book. It had everything I love in a great romantic suspense, the hot Alpha Male, the awkward beautiful heroine and plenty of action to keep me turning the pages. Special Forces Savior was such a great book I can't wait to binge read the rest in this series!
HIGHLY recommended. Suspense, action, and romance. Wonderful characters, humor, and great dialogue. Cool heroes and wicked villains but no excessive torture or perversion. Bravo!
Special Forces Savior is jam packed with action from the very beginning. Kidnapping, cartels, terrorism, science, and romance. What more could I ask for?
Molly and Derek both work for Omega. Molly is a scientist and Derrek is a Tactical Team Specialist. They shared one intensely passionate night together three years ago. Now every time that Molly is around Derrick her brain stops functioning. The worst part is that he was drunk that night and she doubts that remembers.
Everyone in the office knows about Molly's crush. No one knows that Derrick feels the same way about her. He has his reasons for keeping his distance; he is darkness and she is light.
Derrick convinces Molly to process a vital piece of evidence and shortly after there is an explosion. How do you react when the woman that you love is being targeted because of something that you asked her to do?
Derrick is instantly terrified that he has lost Molly forever. When it becomes apparent that she is being targeted for the information that she has, her safety becomes his primary focus. Now they are alone together in close quarters.
How long will it take for Derrick to cave into his feelings? Can Molly convince him that he is a good man? Can they push past their barriers and build a future together?
This is the first book that I have read by Janie Crouch, and it's not an experience that I will be forgetting anytime soon.

Derek Waterman and Molly Humphries work for Omega Sector. He as a critical response agent and she as the lead forensic scientist. When the agents work on trying to find out who is behind a terrorist attack, they find some evidence that may give them the information they need. They get Derek to ask Molly to process the evidence because she would never say no to him. She actually doesn't say much when she is around him at all because she gets so flustered when he's around that she can bearly speak. Derek is attracted to her too but hides it.
Shortly after getting the evidence to process, there is an explosion in the lab. Derek is terrified that he has lost Molly. When she is kidnapped he's even more worried but determined to find her.
This book had me up most of the night. I continually wanted to find out what was going to happen next and just couldn't stop reading. The writing was so good that I could easily picture what was happening. Some of it was frightening but there were happy parts, too. The romance between Molly and Derek was very subtle. Neither thought they were good enough for the other making it a very slow moving relationship.
If you like romantic suspense, I recommend this book.
Critical Response agent Derek Waterman has been chasing some leads which always run cold. Until one lead. Now he needs the help of Dr. Molly Humphries to retrieve and analyze the data obtained with that lead. Derek has always been attracted to Molly but knows nothing can come of it. His past is dark and dangerous and she would never be interested in him. But Molly does find herself interested. She must put that attraction to one side, though, as she works to retrieve the data. When Molly is kidnapped, Derek will do anything and everything to save her.
Special Forces Savior by Janie Crouch has non-stop action with twists and turns to keep our interest. You will want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next. Just when you think everything is safe, something else happens. Janie Crouch knows how to write suspense, keeping us on the edge of our seat. You will not be disappointed in Special Forces Savior. Pick it up and meet Derek and Molly. You will be glad you did.
I think Janie Crouch is fast becoming one of my favourite M&B authors! I got this e-book free for signing up for her mailing list and completely devoured it.
Dr Molly Humphries is intelligent, diligent and well-liked and respected by all who know her – but she’s also called Mousy Molly, because she dresses sensibly. She doesn’t wear make up. Nobody really seems to have any idea of Molly the woman vs Molly the scientist. What is well known, however, is her crush on Derek Waterman.
Here’s what nobody else knows: Derek feels the same way about Molly, but refuses to tell anyone because his job takes him to dark places. He fights evil, and he’s unwilling to drag sweet, kind Molly into his dark world. She is his light and he won’t taint that. So while he knows exactly how she feels about him, he won’t act on it, even though Molly sees the way he looks at her sometimes. Oh, and another thing nobody else knows about? They slept together three years previously, when Derek turned up on her doorstep drunk one night.
Molly gets involved in processing evidence from a major case Derek and his team are working on, narrowly avoids being blown to smithereens, and is then kidnapped by some very bad people. Derek lets nothing stop him in rescuing her, but it’s not over when they get home – Molly is being framed for the bombing at her lab, and someone high up in the government is involved. The conspiracy is cracked and the players are caught, but not before Molly is hurt by the man who kidnapped her – and you can just feel Derek’s anguish as he listens to her finger being broken over the phone.
Derek and Molly’s relationship was just wonderful to read, and in the end they refuse to hide how they feel from everyone else. Another excellent book worth reading.
This was first published on my blog "Lecture toute une Aventure"
I was looking for a good romance suspense when i came across this one and it's so good i want to continue the series even if this is a stand alone. Really it was super, the investigation, the characters all fit perfectly so that you were immersed in the story and not wanting to make a break but you could still take one if needed without feeling distressed.
Molly is a character i love, she is stronger than she looks, she is compassionate, intelligent and also vulnerable. She is important for the team even if she doesn't exactly see herself as part of it while staying in the lab. She puts her work before her life because for her each case is important... Derek i want to strangle him a bit but with all he is confronted to i will allow him a reprieve^^ i mean he is deeply attracted to Molly but wants to take his distance for her wellbeing without in fact thinking about what she could be feeling even once...worse he tends to redo the same mistake even after seeing what he did. he has good intentions though and he is really loyal going all the way to save her.
The whole team is interesting but this really focus on Derek and Molly so Liam and Jon are a little put aside but hopefully they will get their time as they are courageous and funny!
The investigation was well done with a lot of twists and even better....vilains get what they deserve! i love when they don't get it easy after all the evil they have done.
I have never made it a secret that I'm a huge fan of Janie Crouch Intrigues and the Omega Sector didn't let me down. From the very first page, Derek and Molly drew me in and I knew their story was going to be a twisting turning one from start to end. I wasn't wrong.
When you meet Derek he's taking fire with two other agents. He's cocky but funny, and you know he's one of those guys that despite his ghosts, he's always going to protect the right person and the right country.
Molly, Mousy Molly to the other agents of Omega Sector, is the lab analyst they depend on to save their butts more times than they should. When Derek brings her half-burned-up evidence, he needs her to work a miracle, but all she can do is barely stutter out a sentence. Derek unarms her and for reasons beyond her control, he also ties her tongue. She knows why, but she also knows she would never be able to ask him about that one night without sounding like a fool. No one knows that the moment Molly took possession of that evidence, her life was in danger.
This book is hard to review without giving spoilers because it moves so quickly, so I will say the intrigue and romance are so tightly wrapped up together that you're at the end of the book before you realize you've been reading for hours. The guys at the Omega Sector are hot stuff, but the women doing the work to keep them alive is even sexier. If you love a fast-moving intrigue with lots of action, but also a ton of heart, you have to start the Omega Sector Critical Response series.

Brilliant forensic scientist Dr. Molly Humphries got tongue-tied every time Omega Operative Derek Waterman speaks to her since their one-nighter three years ago, it affected him as well but he was better at hiding it. Today was no exception when evidence possibly connected to a terrorist attack in Chicago, Derek had to update politicos on the next day. She said no but when Derek asked Molly agreed to stay late and work on it. An overnight explosion at the lab, Derek worried Molly was hurt or killed.
Molly was safe, she happened to be out of the lab at that moment though one of her employees was killed. Upset and with mild discomfort from waiting out the fire, Derek took her home but didn’t trust himself to stay. Minutes after he left, armed thugs broke in her house and kidnapped Molly. She wasn’t there when Derek came to drive her to work, he searched but couldn’t find her. He became frantic when he learned she’d been kidnapped by a Columbia drug lord! How and why become the questions. Rating: 4.25stars
Special Forces Savior is the fifth book in the Omega Sector Universe Series (Omega Sector: Critical Response #1) by Janie Crouch. I am reviewing The Omega Sector Universe series, which is made up of 16 engrossing reads and comprises of three connected series. Omega Sector Omega Sector: Critical Response Omega Sector: Under Siege This is a compelling collection of romantic suspense novels that blends high-stakes action with emotionally engaging storylines. The series focuses on a team of elite operatives who face dangerous missions while navigating complex personal relationships- resulting in a dynamic and immersive reading experience. Each book in the series offers a unique storyline while maintaining a connection to the overarching universe. Derek Waterman and his team of special agents in the Omega Sector Critical Response team move from one action packed situation to another as they search for the parties responsible for a bombing in Chicago. They take evidence to Dr. Molly Humphries, Omega's lead forensic scientist that sets into motion a chain of events from a bombing of her lab to kidnapping by a drug lord and dramatic rescue and finding the evidence on a drive that can put all three parties behind bars.
The romance between Derek and Molly is sweet, sometimes humorous and ties the story together with lots of help from his team every step of the way. Special Forces Savior ~ Omega Sector Critical Response offers the best of two genres; it is a wonderful love story mixed in an action packed adventure story.
I want to thank Janie Crouch, author and for the giveaway that I won the copy of Special Forces Savior ~ Omega Sector Critical Response
Had to make sure I was reviewing the right book .. so many similar looking or named books in the authors collection ... I think this is the right one? I am new to Janie's book, this is my 1st read from her and will certainly not be the last, I found it free ... such a quick couldn't put it down kind of read. Love that!! This book is filled with a good mix of romance and action. Molly likes word and eye drooling (this is a new word for me, we can all eye drool over some one, gives ya a good visual, i think??!) over Derek. I am sure we all can related at a time in our lives when we have had a huge fondness over the opposite sex and just wish he or she could be ours. We could spend more time with them and not talk like a complete goober, can we hold ourselves together and not look like a total dweeb? 'Cause we are super cool too, they just need to see that. Come on now ... we were all young once, right? Must read. ( ;
This book had so much action, suspense, and of course passion. It starts out with Molly who is the lead scientist working for Omega Sector's Critical response team. She is so smart, strong and brave and knows her job, but as soon as she sees Derek from the team, she stutters and is just tongue tied every time he is in the same area.
Omega team is trying to take down a group that is responsible for a bombing and the only evidence they could get was a small type of drive that they hope Molly and team can retrieve the contents.
But before she can get to the drive, there is an explosion, and her entire lab is destroyed. Fortunately, she had just left the lab to grab a snack, but one of her team was in the lab and was killed.
Derek and team are there immediately, and he takes it upon himself to get her home safely. She is so upset that she just can't believe what just happened.
Derek makes sure she is good and leaves her to head home. Then the unbelievable happens; Molly is kidnapped.
This story just grabbed me from the get-go and it is a must read.
This is the first book in the Omega Sector: Critical Response series and I totally fell in love with Derek and Molly. I loved the geeky lab scientist and the handsome Agent Derek characters and how Ms. Crouch was able to write their journey in finding love. They were perfect for each other and they would both be able to bring out the best in each other. There was plenty of action, suspense and romance in this story. The storyline was enthralling and I had to read it from beginning to the end. There was lots of twists and turns in this story and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait to read the next book in this series and see who is next to find love.
4.5 Stars This is book one in the Omega Sector: Critical Response series and it features agent Derek Waterman and Dr. Molly Humphries. Their relationship is a strange one. It’s not because of her but because of him. One minute he wants her and shows her how much. Then he’ll remember he’s no good for her and stay distant for a year or two but then, will have a hard time staying away again. All this while they both work at Omega Sector. She’s an introvert that doesn’t like conflict, which is why he gets away with his behavior…until now.
The action was perfect! The plot was well thought out and had great flow. The characters were fantastic and loyal. I can’t wait for more.
Special Forces Savior is a fantastic romantic suspense by Janie Crouch. Ms. Crouch has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with a spectacular cast of characters. Molly is the director of Omega Critical Response Division's forensic lab. Derek is an Omega Sector agent chasing terrorists that set off a bomb. Molly and Derek's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Janie Crouch in the future. Special Forces Savior is book 1 of the Omega Sector: Critical Response Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Some of the actions of the LEOs in this story were kind of stereotypical. Molly’s actions ranged from stuttering to bada$$. Sometimes it didn’t work. Derek was a bit of a jerk. Three years after he slept with her, making Molly feel like a one night stand, he thinks he’s protecting her from his dark side. And after 3 years of just working together after their night together they are in love. Cute, but moved way too fast after all the action.
reat read, the characters Molly and Derek were wonderful. Molly is shy and smart. Derek is alpha and hiding his past. They have a electric connection, can they get fight the bad guys and his past to be together? It is worth the read! I recommend it to all. I received it as an arc and voluntarily left my review.
I loved this book and stayed on edge to the end. Love the writing style of this author. I couldn’t put the book down. Poor Molly is always nervous around Derek, and it’s finally apparent to everyone that she does mean something to him. Love how he’ll risk his job for her. I highly recommend this book.
Love Janies stories and this was just as good as the previous books of hers that I've read. Molly may be small, but she's mighty. Instead of Mousy Molly, she should be Mighty Mouse! The tension was high throughout the book and there were some scary scenes, but our heroes managed to prevail.
I loved this book. As usual Ms. Crouch keeps you on your toes during the whole book. Her characters are always very interesting. The story was really spiced with intrigue that kept you wanting to read long into the night…which I did. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Want a strong defender? Even a strong victim? You've come to the right place. This book has action, romance. What more could you want? It is a great stand alone read. It is also part of the Omega series. You can't go wrong reading a Janie Crouch book.
