Tina currently lives with her husband, son, and a very stubborn old cat in northwest Pennsylvania. She is slightly addicted to iced mocha lattes, 90’s music, smutty romance novels and food especially if it has chocolate, bacon or can be put it in a crock-pot.

It was very bad. From a technical standpoint, I sometimes doubted the author’s knowledge of the English language. Wrong words galore, spelling mistakes, nonsensical sentences, commas and periods in weird places… you name the mistake, this book has it. There’s so much repetition, too. There was an instance where the word “prophecy” was repeated three times in a four-sentence paragraph. And then there is this gem: “I feel you’re safe unless your family or I am with you.” Sigh.
The characters leaped to the most nonsensical conclusions. For example, the fMC would be thinking of people with hangovers, people overdosing and gambling addicts clinging to the slot machines, and then conclude the paragraph with: “yes, she liked the mornings better”. WTF? Or when her brother and MMC are talking about her second brother and they say he can’t know about some prophecy because he would blame himself for the death of his mate. Why? Also, the dialogue was very stiff, though at least the exposition was more or less well integrated within it. Not that there’s much exposition. The author just says they’re wolves and that’s all the paranormal stuff there is, except for two scenes where they shift that could easily be tweaked to be a modern mafia story without much impact. One of those is the only scene where the two MCs even talk without starting to hump one another, though.
The set up takes forever, and the MCs don’t even meet until 70% in. The “plot” outlined in the blurb doesn’t even start until the 60%. And the “arranged marriage” thing, that’s made to be so important in said blurb, comes and goes in less than ten pages. The first 80 pages or so could have been summarized in maybe 20 pages, less if you take out the minimal mentions of werewolves, which wouldn’t change a thing in the story anyway. Just change the word “wolf/wolves” to “mobster” or something similar, “pack” to “family” (that one’s already mentioned a lot) and “alpha” to “boss”, and you have the exact same story but it’s a mafia romance instead of a “paranormal” one. They already use guns, and refer to themselves as “not a small gang” a time or two.
The “romance” is very rushed (if you could call this lust-fueled fever dream a romance), considering they meet about 100 pages in, which leaves some 70 pages to “develop” the relationship, and we still have to see any of the other stuff in the blurb yet, so that has to be jammed into those pages as well. Then another unnecessary (and extremely stupid) conflict is introduced and resolved in less than a chapter: She finds out they’re fated mates, and freaks out because “her feelings are not real” WTF?!! I find that annoying when the fMC is a human who has never heard of werewolves, but this woman is, supposedly, a werewolf! The freaking chapter starts with her thinking about her assistant, how she found her mate and how happy they are, and ends with her saying “my feelings aren’t real because we’re fated” bullshit. Not to worry, though, because she forgets about that in the next few pages. Mind you, by this point we’re at 115 pages and the “enemies” are nowhere to be seen until two pages later, but turns out it’s not the other pack (so that conflict was never a conflict) but one of the members who they still haven’t found. She stops him five pages later, and the book ends. What a waste of time.

I really liked the author's romantic comedies so I was curious to see about her paranormal romance.

While I think the romcoms are my favorite, this was still good albeit darker than others. The spice level is fantastic though. Nothing super freaky but definitely more than others. Especially the last few chapters!

I do suggest reading the TW at the beginning as it does have certain things that might be uncomfortable for some.
