What a Sweet Story!

I usually like to stretch out my reading over a couple (or a few) days. But I just couldn’t with A Mistletoe Christmas! Davalynn Spencer has done an amazing work with Dave and Georgia’s “later in life” holiday romance. This sweet little story flows so quick and well, it was like eavesdropping on someone’s life. But don’t misunderstand, even though it moves quick, there is so much packed inside you’ll not want to put it down. I love how the later in life part just clicked. Sometimes we wonder, can two people find love a second time, and later in life? The answer is… yes.

This was a beautiful story of finding love again after losing a spouse. The interim widowed pastor of a small church notices a beautiful young widow sitting in the back of the church. They are drawn to each other and begin a relationship. I love that each step of the way they both seek God and don't want to be out of His will. This author always rights beautiful stories that weave the Word of God throughout.

Enjoyed this so much!

Davalynn Spencer is an artist who paints pictures with words. A touch of beauty here. A hint of humor there. And a bit of romance thrown in. All combine to create stories that touch your heart and stay with you, reminding you of her gift with characters and settings.  I loved Georgia and Dave's second-chance story. As each tentatively reaches out for the possibility of new love, we see how God is at work in their lives and hearts, and see the sweet unfolding of a future full of promise.

This story was refreshing in that the hero and heroine were not your typical twenty somethings when they met and fell in love. This story caught my heart in the beginning and held it until the very end. Davalynn Spencer knows how to spin a sweet tale and this is a great one for the Christmas season or any season.

Isn't it interesting that we can be mature enough to handle almost everything, but the moment the person we kinda have a crush on speaks to us, we turn into fifteen-year-olds? Insecure, tongue-tied, clumsy...

Whatever insecurities these two have, they are sure of one thing: The Lord directs their paths.

A great read.

Davalynn Spencer has never disappointed me and this one is no different. Can romance happen later in life? Absolutely as Dave and Georgia prove! A charming story.

An endearing story that engulfs you in the warm fuzzies. Dave and Georgia are fantastic characters. Georgia’s love language of food and Dave’s love of his farm had me wanting to pull up a chair for a long visit. I could smell the mountain air and feel the cool breeze as I read about the barbecues and coffee dates. A warm, mature kind of romance, that only comes with age and walking in obedience with God made me smile. A truly beautiful story that makes you laugh and wraps you in huge doses of happiness. Definitely a book to keep on my bookshelf to read a second time!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

A Faith-Filled, Respectful Later-in-Life Romance

As an older hopeless romantic myself, I'm drawn to the still fairly rare contemporary romances featuring a couple far past youth’s bloom. While I don't particularly enjoy romances steeply enmeshed in religion, I gave that preference a pass when considering this book. The hero is a pastor, and faith certainly does play a substantial role in their lives and in the story. It did feel a bit heavy-handed at times, and as the faith is a Christian one, the characters sometimes came across as judgmental towards those they perceive as not as much of the faith as they are. I did like how both of this couple had a vulnerability about approaching romance later in life. That seems entirely realistic for me. I also appreciate how the author did not paint their former spouses—both characters widowed--in any sort of bad light. They had married those whom they’d thought were the loves of their lives at young ages and similarly lost them young, one from a long illness and the other suddenly. Both had a deep understanding of what true love was and what it meant to possibly find that again and have someone to share their lives with. I love how both of the couple were so respectful to each other, both in how they respected the other’s grief and how they interacted. I loved the homey, personalized touches throughout, like how the heroine’s love language was baking and how the hero loved to help without being asked as his. So utterly charming and delightful in their interactions. And, yes, there are some mistletoe moments! Both have adult children, and their very different reactions were amusing. I found this to be an enjoyable, sweet read.

I received a free digital copy of this book, but that did not affect that review.

A MISTLETOE CHRISTMAS
by Davalynn Spencer

Dave Weatherford is a rancher, a widower, and a part-time pastor. He takes life seriously and finds he is falling for Georgia, a sweet lady from his church.

Georgia Andrews is an author and a widow who wonders what God has in store for her for the rest of her life. She is sure that she's not meant to be alone, but she has questions as she's developing feelings for the interim pastor at her church, Dave.

Dave finds himself irresistibly drawn to spend more time with Georgia, he can't cook an egg and Georgia is a wonderful cook. He feels as if Georgia is feeling the same draw to him that he is to her. He knows that their possible fledgling love is sent down directly from God.

I like how the story is about two Christians who have lost their significant other and are ready to try again.

I loved these quotes: "He looked at the dregs of his coffee. Was it too soon to ask her to marry him?" and "God had brought the desire of his heart right into his lonely house" such sweet words. Highly recommended.

I am thankful for the complimentary copy of #AMistletoeChristmas I was under no obligation to post a review.

I loved the title of A Mistletoe Christmas: A Later in Life Sweet Holiday Romance, and picked it quite by chance when browsing Booksprout. I immediately liked Georgia, and immediately got the impression that church was very important to her. I loved how she would imagine book plots in her head and how they would be cozy mysteries and romances. This is something I do too when planning my novels.

I liked the way Dave the Pastor helped her, and how they helped each other. They are people to root for.

The small town atmosphere was perfectly imagined and the fast paced, yet highly detailed, plot made me feel as if I were there with the characters. This made it even more enjoyable.

Faith, fun and finding love later in life...it's possible! Helping others and taking chances are also themes that make this book a winner for me. I am SO glad I found A Mistletoe Christmas, and Davalynn C. Spencer is an author I'm happy to have discovered.

Thanks to Davalynn C. Spencer

Oh, Dav has such a way with words!

Sweet tender story with well drawn characters~even the gossipy church ladies!
In fact, I know someone exactly like Georgia and to have a ringside seat to her love story was especially sweet.

Dav writes a well crafted story as though she needs it as much as she needs air.

A sweet and clean CF novella about a senior pastor and novelist who both lost their spouses and find one another in church. Well-written and descriptive as to their individual grieving process that must be dealt with in order to be able to move forward in the dating world. A perfect bedtime read for those who enjoy this genre.

This was a sweet Christian romance. Romanc writer meets cowboy preacher. I wasn’t quite sure their age except they were older with graying hair. Anyway, I enjoyed the story.
