Outside the Bible: Ancient Jewish Writings Related to Scripture, 3-volume set
The Hebrew Bible is only part of ancient Israel’s writings. Another collection of Jewish works has survived from late- and post-biblical times, a great library that bears witness to the rich spiritual life of Jews in that period. This library consists of the most varied sorts of texts: apocalyptic visions and prophecies, folktales and legends, collections of wise sayings, laws and rules of conduct, commentaries on Scripture, ancient prayers, and much, much more.

This is certainly a very important collection of texts, but unfortunately, the presentation and some of the translations leave something to be desired. For one, the formatting of the running footnotes is simply confusing and not intuitive at all. As for the translations, some of them combine multiple manuscripts into a single edition of the text, yet do not make this clear. There are also many typos. I almost would give it 5 stars just for the vast range of texts included in this set, but the formatting and quality issues do not permit me to do so.
