This cleverly written hardcover Discovery Kids book is one of the best I've seen for children. It includes a page of stickers and a giant poster, It is divided into sections, such as skin, bumps and scrapes, bones, muscles, lungs, brain, my senses, etc. And is written in the question-answer format, questions that kids would ask, such as: Why do my fingers turn wrinkly in the bathtub? Why do I sometimes burp? How does skin heal itself? Why is some hair straight and some curly? Why do we need bones? Why do I get goosebumps? Why do I go to the bathroom? What's blood for? What makes me yawn? --The list goes on. The answers are written in a child's vocabulary. Complex things are explained in a simple and fun way.
The book is filled with colorful drawings and photographs of children that support both the questions and answers. The children's photographs are filled with expression. Scattered throughout the book are "discovery facts", which add even more information in tidbit form about the subject under discussion.
I learned some things I did not know before; my 85- year-old mother ( retired from high school library ) enjoyed it as well, commenting what a great book it would be for my grandchildren.
