Yuji Sano was a normal guy working a soul-sucking nine-to-five job when he suddenly found himself transported to a fantasy world where he restarted his life as a Monster Tamer. After befriending the Slimes, Yuji is quickly able to gain a second character class, ranking up his stats and learning new skills as he encounters one surprise after another.
Yuji was hired as a scout to accompany a group of adventurers on a slaying quest to take down the dreaded Luisia Rhino. After stumbling on the fearsome foe, who ends up being far stronger than anticipated, Yuji ends up accidentally showing off his true power to protect the group. Just when things start to get dicey, however, he notices something odd about the Rhino that has him questioning if this is the same monster they were hired to take down...
*The MC is OP af but he is really chill and practical, has common sense and is not stupid. His OPness is does not have that overtly, speshul snowflake vibe. Well, the people around him treat him like he's godlike with his OPness but, with all his sturdy and chill personality, it's grounded and not all over the place. *The story is also really good. *Everything is balanced. *No unnecessary fanservice (most of manga like this have that unnecessary, sexually-toned fanservice that always makes me think that the author is compensating for a lack of *something* in their life) *Mini-arc stories that contribute to the major arc A+ *No harem A++
Please see the review of the first in the series (with the caveat that the storyline of him getting into town and getting recognized as OP is getting a little rinse and repeat).
I really enjoyed this volume with its focus on the Ancient Rhino. It's a fun way of adding lore to the story, being told a little bit extra each time they meet an older character. It was great to see the enhanced slimes in action too.
