I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.

When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.

I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.

I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

Like visiting with old friends

I'd read these books even if there were no murder mystery to solve. Keyhole lake is a charmed place where the living and the dead coexist peacefully, in fact most of the town's residents are not aware of the.ghosts living along side them. But for.some like Noelle Flynn they are just a part of life and are mostly friends, for example Coralee who owns the hairdressers and shares the business with Belle the previous owner or Noelles, Aunt Addy who chose to remain after her death to give support to Noelle as she struggled to hold onto the farm and raise her sister Shelby. The characters (living and dead) are a lot of fun and with each visit we get to catch up with what 's happening and more importantly how everyone is getting on. It's a fun series with lots of southern charm and great humour, a standout is Max the sixteenth century rake who was cursed by a witch and has been a talking donkey for the last three hundred years.....................

Yes! Such a great read!
I always feel so at home with the people in Keyhole Lake and I really enjoy all of the old and also the new characters. I really wish Heather hadn’t passed though, because she would have added so much good to the town. Her idea of a bed & breakfast was a good one and that could have been a series in itself. Maybe Anna Mae or one of the other Keyhole residents we know will purchase the property and turn the beautiful old home into an inn.

It has been 7 months since I read the previous book 16 - “Magnolias and Murder” - but Maher always brings up quick facts about the different characters and their lives to help the readers remember what happened in previous books and how the players fit into the story.

Noelle “Noe” Flynn is a witch in the literal sense and sometimes figuratively if you cross her and her nemeses Olivia can attest to that. But I digress, because Olivia plays only a small role in this read. Noe is a powerful witch who was willed her aunt Addy’s farm in Keyhole Lake upon Addy’s death years prior. There is a talking donkey named Max and his pet dog Arlo that live with Noe. Yes, a donkey masters a dog. Lol.

Noe owns a business repurposing old and worn down furniture, bakes pastries and other goodies for her cousin Raeann’s coffee shop (Noe adds her magic into the pastries based on her emotions, so if she isn’t careful, if she is baking while she is sad she can put her sadness into the food and therefore the person that eats the food will be overcome with sadness also), runs the farm - although she typically has friends that are boarders, too, and they help with the feeding of the horses and other animals, and has been deputized so that when she does her “amateur sleuthing” after a crime has been committed, she can legally question suspects and witnesses. She definitely has a full plate! She also fills in at Raeann’s and her friend Bobby Sue’s eateries when they need her.

Enough of the backstory… When Raeann discovers a body in the dumpster behind her coffee shop, Noe is quick to get on the case of finding out not only who the victim is, but also who killed her and how. Noe’s fiancé Tucker is a cop, so he is also obviously a major player in discovering the truth.

In this book there’s a lot of witches that have their own individual special talents for different tasks, a talking donkey with a pet dog, a college student witch that regularly saves the world from evil without mere humans ever knowing, a murder (of course), a motive, a sweet old lady and a miserable and mean ol’ crone, a hot yet humble and sweet boyfriend, an angel temporarily without wings, a fair with fried foods and candy apples, a genuine seer/fortune teller, a stray ghost that can’t talk, two unintentionally abandoned Yorkies, a new ghost named Caroline with aunt Addy as a mentor that will fit right in with the rest of the ghost population, many other ghosts that are instrumental in helping to solve the murder, friends that are family, and a one-hundred percent feeling of small town closeness.

There’s so much more, but I wanted to touch on some of the things going on so you know what you’re getting yourself into when you try to decide whether or not you’ll read this book (yes, you should read it). I had my suspicion on who killed Heather, but we aren’t given that info until nearly the very end.

There were a couple of parts I had tears just due to how touching the pieces were.

Shelby, Noelle’s little sister attends college and is also a student of a magic school where very powerful witches learn how to better harness their powers to regularly save the world by fighting evil. Shelby gets pretty stressed with such a full schedule, but when she was marked by an Angel and given an extra boost in her magical abilities, it became her duty to use those powers for the greater good. In fact, Maher has written 3 books starring Shelby and her talents of ridding us of malicious deities. Book 1 of the 3 part series - Marked by Fate: Celestial Academy: The Witch Book 1. I’ll eventually get to this series, but I’ve got many many other books I want to get to first.

My next book I’ll read that was released 9/12/23 and is book 13 of 14 in Cottage on Gooseberry Bay series: “Halloween Bay” by Kathi Daley.

exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Noel Flynn is a witch in a small town called keyhole lake. All the women in her family are witches. The small town is in Georgia and next to a lake shaped like a keyhole. in this particular world there are many different types of paranormal but in this town it’s mostly witches and a Post living community of ghost. Noel has a horse farm and a small shop where she takes old things refurbishes them and sells them. She has a lot of friends some of them are which is some of them are just humans but they’re all close friends. Your boyfriend is the local sheriff and there’s a long story that goes behind that and you’ll have to read the story from the beginning of book one to learn all of that. Her sister went off to college and is part of a special supernatural elite force that goes out and saves the world on a weekly basis. Once again it is almost Fourth of July and the annual festival is coming up. There’s been death in town and Noel and the rest of the gang must figure out who did it and how. This series has an entertaining southern twist to it and plenty of twist and turns to keep you guessing. You have witches and occasional angel a few ghosts and even a talking manager donkey. Get to reading and see what happens this time in keyhole Lake. This particular series is part of a number of series by this author in an extraordinarily entertaining magical world. Read them all you will not be disappointed. by the way you can listen to some audiobooks by this author on YouTube on this authors YouTube page. Go check that out as well.

Classic Keyhole Lake story

Just another classic Keyhole Lake story! I love all the characters and their backgrounds, the town sounds like a great little country hometown and there's just enough craziness to make it believable (well minus the ghost stuff, at least for most, lol). I highly recommend any of Tegan Maher's books! They don't have to be read in series order but they are so much better if they are!

Tegan Maher Never Disappoints!

Welcome back to Keyhole Lake! It’s carnival time. And it wouldn’t be a carnival without a murder for Noelle to solve. Special guest appearances by Shelby and Kira. And Noelle discovers the truth about her new ability. You don’t want to miss this one folks!

Quite a Wild Ride!

What a pleasure it is to visit old friends, that has a double meaning in this case. Not only with Noelle, but with her sister Shelby, and a couple of characters we haven’t heard from in a while. Besides a murder with many twists and turns, a surprise revelation at the end is the “cherry on top”.

This is a fantastic addition to the series. Noelle is my favorite witch, and watching her develop and build relationships, all while solving crimes, has been A-Mazing. Thank you, Tegan, for allowing me to visit with Noelle and her family & friends again. I can't wait til the next time!!

Always a great story

The characters are so real. The story is a real story not just snippets while they solve a murder. The murders are a part of the book but i really enjoy the life stories of the people of the town. They all feel like family even the Ghosts.

Don’t mess around with old ladies

Another interesting story from Keyhole Lake. There are a lot of interesting characters in the story and the side stories are what keeps the book going. Ms. Maher still needs a better editor.

New ghost in town!

There is a new/ lost ghost in town, and sadly, he is upsetting everyone. While everyone tries to locate him, Noelle and Hunter are looking for the most recent murder with no idea and absolutely no clues. Can they solve it, or will it be a lost case
