I gave this book a 4/5 rating because his book is an oral history with a lot of lessons to be learned. It is told from the actual Marines on the ground point of view. You can listen to the heartaches Ronin and others went through. This book shows how ignorant and lack of knowledge, on the leaders part, can compromise the mission of scout/snipers. A scout/snipers basic employment tactic comes from common sense, which you will find is a key trait missing among the higher ups in this book.
5/5 stars, a highly recommended read. Mike Tucker reveals the truth behind war and how it is almost all completely politics. The men dying on the field die for little to no reason. Tucker wrote an amazing novel, all in all a great story.
Not a bad book, well written, but after about 125 pages of hearing that the Iraqi Police force is full of terrorists...I get the message. I think the message needed to be heard, but...I get it! Mr. Tucker went on to explain that the higher ups in the Corps were not listening to the Scout - Sniper teams either and that was the reason for the failure here. I always will agree that if we are going to send our military out to do a job, let them do the job!! They know how and are the most capable force to ever walk the planet...if the politicians will let them do the job!!
