She's the light I desperately crave, but also a reminder of the past I've been trying to forget.

Two years.
That’s how long I’ve been avoiding Tina Hughes.
Single mom.

And the one woman in this small town I never wanted to face. Until everything changed.
Now I can’t stay away, no matter how hard I try. Since being discharged from the Army, I’ve let my guilt and brokenness eat away at me. But every day I crave her more. Her joy. Her smile. The way she soothes all my rough edges with just one touch.

Imperfectly Yours is book three in the Half Moon Lake series.

Tina lost her husband in the line of military duty and is now a single mom to two children, Callie and Teddy. Kyle is a former military medic who was discharged due to injury. When they meet, Kyle is instantly attracted to Tina and can't keep himself from finding ways to spend time with her. Tina and Kyle have a great connection; however, Kyle is keeping a secret that may strip their happiness away.

Tina and Kyle are both dealing with grief and loss in very different ways. Tina keeps more of a positive outlook, while Kyle deals with his feelings using avoidance. I loved that Kyle found happiness and joy with Trina and her children. Fate brought them together, and the relationship was exactly what they both needed. I enjoyed witnessing the evolution of their relationship and how they delicately handled their dating status with Tina’s children.

This story is well-written, and the characters are relatable. AJ Ranney made a great effort to carefully approach the characters’ experiences and the complex topics addressed in the story. This book tugged on my heartstrings, and I enjoyed every second. I’m excited to read more of AJ Ranney’s work.

Thank you, A.J. Ranney and The Author Agency, for the e-ARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

----arc review----

Tina is a recent widow with two children and she moved to a small town to find friends of her husband, who passed fighting in the military. She and her children gradually come out of their shells as they meet new people and find acceptance in this town. However, someone who has stayed clear of them is Kyle.

Kyle, who knew Tina's husband in the military, feels immense guilt for his death and has been avoiding Tina ever since she came to town. However, he feels he can no longer avoid her when he saves her son from drowning. Kyle dedicates himself to helping Tina and her family by teaching Tina's children how to swim. But soon those swim lessons turn into something more when Tina and Kyle begin to feel romantic tension and want to explore something more.

Imperfectly Yours is a perfect balance of romance and character development. I enjoyed how the author put in the same amount of effort to develop the characters and show their progress as she did with the romance. Watching Tina's daughter go through the grief of missing her dad and being hesitant towards Kyle really pulled at my heartstrings. Kyle was so kind and caring towards Tina and her family. Honestly, Kyle sets the standard for men. I love the small-town setting too as it gives the book a cozy vibe that fits Kyle and Tina's romance and provides a wholesome feeling when you are reading. Overall, this book is great for readers, who enjoy small-town romances, that are emotionally charged, and filled with incredible characters, who you watch grow before your very own eyes.

Loved Kyle and Tina’s story!! If you love small town romance, grumpy/sunshine, single mom. Then this is for you!

Tina has been through so much losing her husband in the military. Being a single mom with two kids in a newer place isn’t easy. She tries her best to make her children happy and feel comfortable. Seeing her finally find some happiness truly warms my heart.

I love Kyle. My heart hurts for him too. He has been through so much. Losing friends snd getting injured on duty. He finally found happiness with Tina and her kids. I love how he was with them. Even when Callie wasn’t comfortable having another man around. He truly handled it well and so did Tina.

I finished this book pretty much in one sitting. I loved it so much!!

This was a fantastic grumpy sunshine book. I loved the character growth. Kyle was so broody in the beginning but I can’t blame the guy for being over protective. And much like Kyle, I liked that Tina found so much positivity in things people would find negatives in

I absolutely adore this story! Usually single mom is not a trope I enjoy, but it is done to perfection here. So many times my heart was yanked on by the characters throughout this story. I went from feeling so sorrowful for certain thoughts and emotions, to laughing my head off next moment. There is a fabulous mix, and it is balanced well throughout. Tina has been through so much and yet her spirit is so beautiful to read. Kyle is the perfect broody, grumpy, protective MMC that is trying so hard to let go his past. His ability to prioritize Tina and her children is phenomenal. Kyle and Tina’s spice is so hot and required lots of ice water to cool down with. Their story is tension filled and beautiful, and their growth is amazing! I love them and cannot wait to dive into more from this world!

Imperfectly Yours by @a.j.ranney is one of my favorite romance novels to date if I'm being completely honest. Tina and Kyle have such astoundingly seductive and sweet chemistry all in the same vein as they tread the line between friendship and love. Having lost her military husband two years ago when he died in a fatal attack, Tina moves her children (10 year old Callie and 4 year old Teddy) to the small beach town her family is from as she navigates the grief that comes with losing her husband and father of her children so unexpectedly. However, she is none the wiser that Kyle, a wounded military medic, has the power to not only turn her entire world on its head, but also holds the memories of Levi's last moments alive on Earth.

This single-mom, grumpy x sunshine romance had me hooked from the very beginning, so it is no surprise that I devoured this book in three days' time, one of which I was at work for. I was so excited to see Tina's character as a single-mom, widow, and military way portrayed in such a positive, empowering light and it was especially heartwarming to see all the support she has in her corner even after Levi's death. The domestic challenges she faced following the upheaval of her entire world were portrayed very tastefully and respectfully while offering a deeper heart and meaning to Tina's desire to connect with Kyle and the other residents of her new town.

Kyle taking on the varying roles of a father figure in Callie and Teddy's lives were just so sweet and wholesome. I thoroughly enjoyed every scene where he not only did his best to woo Tina, but Kyle also sought to forge a genuine connection with the woman he loves children. 🥰 It doesn't get any sweeter than Kyle spending all of his free moments teaching the Hughes children how to swim or taking them all out for ice cream after a hard day. We love a man who can treat the woman of his dreams as both his Lady and the object of his desires and love her children. Imperfectly Yours was a super easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read for me and I absolutely must go and read the first two books in the series because I have a feeling they will be just as incredible as Imperfectly Yours was for me.

Imperfectly Yours
By AJ Ranney

This story is about Kyle, ex-military soldier, and Tina, who is a single/widowed mother whose husband died two years ago while on active duty. Tina and her two kids move to Half Moon Lake, a small-town where Kyle and his family live. A near drowning incident brings their lives together where Kyle insists on teaching water safety to Tina’s children afterward. As they continue to spend time together, a romantic relationship sparks between them.

I enjoyed the differences in our main characters as Tina is the “sunshine” to Kyle’s “grumpy”. She truly brings out the best in him and it’s sweet to see. I especially enjoyed the relationship Kyle developed with her children, knowing they are the very center of her life and soul. The entire town, including Kyle’s family, is welcoming of Tina and her kids and she finds herself enjoying these new, deep connections. For someone who has been widowed recently, I found Tina had a great outlook on life & the future, and she did not get weighed down completely by the guilt of losing her husband, which I assume is not the norm.

As they spend more time together, Kyle’s protectiveness comes out and it’s clear he loves fiercely. I swooned as he is so good with children and is even called the “baby whisperer” by his family. When he battled with his inner turmoil about the details he knew of Tina’s husband’s death, I felt his pain – it was unmistakable the guilt he had, not only about withholding the secret, but the details of the secret itself.

While this is a short read, it does not spare the emotional depth of the characters in many scenes, nor does it lack in spice! The chemistry between Tina & Kyle led to some steamy scenes that will have you both drooling and swooning!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

AJ Ranny's Half Moon Lake series continues with the latest release, "Imperfectly Yours", which follows the story of Tina and Kyle. Despite not having read the previous books, I dove into this standalone novel and was immediately hooked. The touching love story between a single mother and a former military man was so captivating that I found myself finishing the entire book in just one sitting.

Following the loss of her husband in military service, Tina found herself a single mother to her two children, Callie and Teddy. Kyle, a former military medic discharged due to injury, is immediately drawn to Tina and her children upon meeting them. Witnessing Kyle's transformation from grumpy to joyful in the company of Tina and her children was heartwarming, offering them the companionship they desperately needed. It became evident that fate had a hand in bringing them together, their connection destined. Watching their relationship evolve as they navigated the challenges of blending families was delightful. However, Kyle harbors a secret from Tina that could jeopardize their growing bond and happiness. Despite this, Tina and Kyle remain determined to overcome any obstacles that may arise.

“Imperfectly Yours” is a stunning blend of heartbreak, romance, and captivating storytelling, with just the right amount of spice. I was immediately drawn in by the author's style and will definitely be reading the first two books in the series. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for the future.

“no matter how much pain im in, i will always choose to have ur legs wrapped around me"

“sometimes, no matter what we do or how hard we fight it, we end up being exactly where we’re supposed to be"

“u make me want to be better. to focus on the good & try to see the silver lining in everything"

kyle, aka town's grump, was an army vet (combat medic) who came home due to leg injury & therapy. tina moved to his town from fort bragg after her husband (levi) ☠️at his last deployment. this move was her fresh start with her 2kids. little did she know, kyle was part of the special forces that was sent to help out levi's team.

kyle was broken, tina was grieving. could there really be a chance for love between the 2 especially if kyle believes its his fault why shes a widow? that levi's family can never be HIS family?

holy f🦊!! this had me ugly-cry, pulling on ALL my heart strings!! hit pretty close to home being personally married to a vet myself & a single parent prior to us meeting. i thought it was so well written with very raw emotions brought by the scars we carry not only in physical form but also mental & emotional. this is about misguided intentions, 2nd chances, healing, trusting again, loving again, seeing ur worth again. juz the awareness ALONE i have a huge appreciation for. even the introduction of a new LI to the children... i thought was handled naturally & realistically. this book romanced me & gave me all the feels of that journey all over again!! i thoroughly enjoyed every page & looking forward to reading more of the author's books🩶

This is my first book by this author.

I loved this book. Kyle was very mentally wounded from his time in the military and he avoided Tina from a long time due to his connection with her late husband. There is a lot of guilt there and I felt for Kyle 💔

Tina, despite her loss, is a very positive person ☀️and she always tries to see the positive in everything which I relate to so well ♥️

I think Tina was exactly the type of woman that Kyle needed in his life because she was able to start his healing 🫶🏼 with just accepting him for who he was. I also loved how Kyle accepted her and her kids' grief and he never got jealous if the kids wanted to talk about their dad ♥️

I love that Tina was a very involved parent 🐥and I loved that Kyle wanted to not only be apart of Tina's life but her kids' 🥵

I think this is a wonderful book and if you love swoon ♥️ worthy men you will enjoy this book 📕 I can't wait to read more from this author.

There is a lot to unpack in this latest book in the Half Moon Bay Series by AJ Rainey. I was honored to receive this book as an ARC read and let me tell you when I say I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! Kyle and Tina’s story is so well written and a beautiful tale about love, loss, grief, and new beginnings.

Tina whose husband is killed in action, is left to raise their two young children on her own. Finding herself a single parent, is difficult not to mention the mountains of advice and insecurities she feels to make sure she is “doing it right”. She feels overwhelmed.

Kyle, former military special forces medic has been injured and discharged from the military. This military is the only life he knows and understands, but he is home now trying to recover from his physical injuries, but the pain of loss as well.

When Kyle meets Tina, the chemistry is instant and he is drawn to her positivity and light knowing the loss that she has suffered. She is the one who can help him heal, but there is a connection there that Kyle is afraid to share knowing it might change their relationship. What will Tina think when the secret is uncovered?

Overall this is a wonderful book and I annoyed reading it. I would recommend if you are into:

A.J. Ranney’s “Imperfectly Yours” is a small town/single mom romance. It’s the third book in her Half Moon Lake series, but can be read as a standalone. I did enjoy this book, and I thought that Kyle and Tina’s story was sweet, with a little bit of spice and a good amount of angst.

Kyle used to be a medic in the army, and he’s still working through some trauma from his time in the military. He’s floored when a woman named Tina and her two young kids move to his hometown, because he blames himself for the death of Tina’s husband, who was also in the army.

I don’t think Kyle meant to fall for Tina, especially considering he did his best to avoid her before the events of this book. But something about Tina called to him, and he wasn’t able to stay away. I loved that Kyle worked hard not only to make Tina fall for him, but to make sure that her kids, Teddy and Callie, were comfortable with him as well.

Tina definitely wasn’t planning on dating anyone either. She, Teddy, and Callie were still adjusting to life without her late husband, Levi, and she didn’t want to rock the boat. I know that Tina took her duties as a mom very seriously, but I was happy that she also realized that she was a person who has wants and needs as well.

To sum it up, I think that fans of small town and/or single mom romance will love Kyle and Tina’s love story!

Kyle Williams is perfection! I think grumpy/sunshine just might be my favorite of all the tropes.

We heard about his accident that caused him to be discharged from the Army, now we get to find out more about what happened and what other demons he is going to have to face now that he is back in civilian life.

Tina is an Army widow with two young kids, who recently moved to Half Moon Lake for a fresh start. She’s doing everything she can to make sure her kids don’t fall under the weight of losing their dad while he was deployed.

What starts as a freak accident where Kyle saves Teddy when he falls in the lake, turns into swim lessons for Teddy and Callie…that very quickly turns into more between Tina and Kyle, until suddenly Kyles plans for moving to NY for work don’t seem so appealing anymore.

Those demon’s have to show up again though and the survivors guilt Kyle has been dealing with as well as taking Tina’s choice away almost tear them apart.

The chemistry between these two when no kids are around is off the charts, but the way they just fit together when all four of them are together is so sweet. Kyle Williams is absolutely my favorite when it comes to this series!

ARC Review-Releases 2/19

After the loss of her husband while he was deployed, Tina has moved to Half Moon Lake to be closer to her family. After being there for two months she meets Kyle. Kyle has spent two years feeling guilty about a life he couldn’t save as a Special Forces medic. Kyle and Tina are drawn to each other but Kyle is keeping a secret. But does the secret really matter if Kyle is planning on leaving anyway? Why not enjoy the time they have together.

This was such a sweet heartfelt story. I loved that both characters were older and knew what the wanted out of life and relationships (even if it took Kyle just a smidge of time to really decide where he wanted to be). Kyle continued to show up for Tina and her kids even though he knew he was going to be leaving. Tina was such a bright spot in Kyle’s life even after suffering tremendous loss. The bond Kyle formed with Tina’s kids honestly warmed my heart.

This is book 3 in a series and can absolutely be read as a standalone. I’m sure getting to see previous characters would be nice if you’ve read their books, it wasn’t necessary to enjoy this one. However, that epilogue has me very intrigued for what’s to come.

ARC Book Review
A Novel Written By A. J. Ranney
Fiction - Romance
Published February 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the third book in the author’s Half Moon Lake series. This love story includes these tropes:

- Small town
- Broken military Hero
- Widowed Heroine
- Single mom
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Meddling family

Tina Hughes is a widowed mother with two small children. She has relocated her family and is starting a new job as a kindergarten teacher. She is hoping this fresh start will help her and her children, Callie and Teddy, heal from the death of her husband and their father, Levi.

Kyle Williams was a special forces medic in the army. He was given a medical discharge after suffering an injury to his leg. He carries guilt about his injury and Levi’s death.

When Kyle and Tina meet, he has a secret he is keeping. As he grows closer to Tina and her children, it becomes more difficult for him to reveal that secret to her.

Kyle wants to protect Tina and her children. He develops a great rapport with them. He comes to realize that everyone needs saving, even him.

A. J. Ranney blew my mind with this Small Town Romance, Grumpy/Sunshine, Single Mum, Widow and Military Tropes.
This book was heartbreaking reading about the loss Tina has from losing her husband 2 years ago in service and Kyle's loss, trauma and grievance of what he knows from Tina's husbands death.
Thenn the story had the ability to lift you up and laugh out loud and fall in love..
These two were so broken but both managing it differently. Where Tina is trying to be positive and bubbly with the support of her small home town and Kyle is grumpy, guilty and miserable. That is until Tina is in his life. Despite trying to avoid her, he can't stay away. I absolutely loved how protective he was of Tina and her 2 children Callie (10) and Teddy (4). The way he treated the children was just perfect. Every single mum needs a Kyle!!!
Their chemistry was so strong and explosive. The spice was just perfect amount for this story. They both were on the thin line of finding happiness again and feeling guilty for moving on from their loss. But their love was something to admire.
Honestly as heartbreaking some parts were this book was just amazing.

💚 I truly looked forward to Kyle’s story. I was waiting to know more about him and who he was and I feel like AJ gives you a beautiful glimpse into his psyche. To see why he is and why he acts the way that he does. Plus who doesn’t love a good grump?

💚 Tina was such a breath of fresh air. Even after everything she goes through - and her being a single mom dealing with all of that on top of it - she still sees life as a half glass full person. She’s so strong - and I feel like she is written so well that you tend to forget what she’s going through because she doesn’t want you to see that sometimes she needs something for just her …. But then Kyle shows her she does.

💚 I really enjoyed this fast paced read - and that it all comes together and you don’t ever feel like you’re being rushed or going too slow. It’s just right

This is my first book by A.J Ranney and as a Military spouse I love a good Military Romance!
Tropes:
💚small town

💚single mom
🪖broken hero
💚widow
🪖grumpy x sunshine

Tina is a widow and a mom to Callie and Teddy. Tina moved to a new town to be closer to family. What Tina didn't expect to find in that new small town was love.

Kyle is the grumpy/brooding mmc in this book. He has a past and he blames himself for the outcome. Kyle wasn't looking for love especially with Tina whose husband he made a promise to.

I loved Kyle and Tina's story. Kyle's relationship with Tina's kids was beautiful, especially with Callie who was hesitant and not welcoming of a new man in her moms life. Kyle, while being grumpy, was so patient with Tina's kids. I loved the communication between characters in this book. I was so happy when Kyle got his sh*t together and opened up to Tina so they could move forward in their relationship together.

"But when I'm around you, I can't help but smile. You make me feel alive again. Your ability to see the light in everything makes the dark parts of my soul a little brighter."

"I'm not perfect, Tina. Far from it. I'm broken, a bit selfish, and I struggle to get out of my head." "I don't need perfect." I ran my fingers through his hair. 'I just need you."

Thank you to the Author Agency for the ARC of this book.

Tina lost her husband in the line of duty. Now she's a widow with two kids to raise on her own. The cutest little boy, Teddy and a little girl, Callie, who is angry half of the time dealing with her dad's death. She meets Kyle.

Kyle is a former military medic. Home due to an injury. Not planning to stay home as he got a job for a private security firm. But when he Meets Tina and her kids, it seems like this is exactly what he needed in his life to make it feel whole again. However he doesn't know how Tina will react when she finds out he has been keeping a secret from her and her kids...

Enjoyed the story. My heart was breaking for poor Callie who was definitely still grieving for her dad. And her mother who loved her husband but also knew it was time to move on...

Kyle needed Tina amd her kids. His life was going down a dark path and he needed to get over the guilt of his last mission. But finding purpose with the kids and Tina brought him back to life💖 loved the story and loved al the character💖

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: small town, broken military hero, single mom, widowed heroine, grumpy x sunshine

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: death of a loved one

Tina is a single mother after her husband died in the line of military duty, and Kyle was a former military doctor who was discharged due to an injury. When they meet for the first time, Kyle is attracted to her and can't help but find reasons to spend time with her, but he has a secret that could destroy Tina's happiness.

Both of them struggle with grief and loss, but fate brings them together, and their relationship is exactly what they needed. Every moment together brings them closer and makes them heal. I really liked watching the evolution of their relationship, but also the acceptance of Tina children, especially Callie, of Kyle.

Their story is an emotional one in which two people find themselves after loss, heal each other and find their long-lost sparkle.

This is my first read from this author and this series. Although it is book three, it can be read as a stand-alone with no trouble.
This is an emotional and heartfelt story of loss, grief, guilt and healing.
Tina is a recent military widow, moving to Half Moon Lake with her children, to be closer to family.
Kyle is a former military medic, home due to injury.
Unknowingly tied together through her husband, they have an instant connection and although Kyle tries to resist, ultimately he can’t deny her pull.
This made me cry. Their pain and grief is so beautifully written and realistic I couldn’t help but be swept up by the emotion on the pages. But it’s not all sad, there are lighthearted moments and the ending is a swathe of smiles. Kyle and Tina healed each other, taking us along for the ride.
Sweet moments with her children, spicy adults only times, beautiful romance and a HEA.
I’m looking forward to more in this series.

Thank you to the author and The Author Agency.

Tina lost her husband and the father of her children and has come home to be closer to her parents and start a new life. What she doesn’t know is that Kyle, the man who tried to save her husband is about to shake up her world.

Tina is a ray of sunshine and optimism and Kyle is broody and always sees the worst case scenario. But there is something that is piling them together and the sparks are flying!

I loved this story! So often children are written as being adorable and always listening to their parents in romance books but Callie and Teddy felt so real in Imperfectly Yours. They both lost their dad and have moved somewhere far away from everything and everyone they’ve ever know. Watching them deal with their grief and adapting to a new life was so sweet and rewarding.

Kyle was amazing. You couldn’t help but want to pull him into a hug or kiss the daylights out of him 🤣 He carries so much guilt for those he’s lost when it wasn’t his fault and he has the kindest hear

Imperfectly Yours is a beautifully written, small-town, single mom, grumpy hero strangers-to-lovers romance that was a joy to read. Ms. Ranney gives us Tina and Kyle, two people who from the outside, are broken and need to find happiness but how? Tina is a single mom of two adorable children, Callie and Teddy, and is trying to deal with the loss of her husband. In walks Kyle, a broken, grumpy, ex-military with a connection to Tina that nobody knows about. The only thing is Tina has no idea what the connection is. The two of them seem to have a connection that is sweet. Kyle cannot get her out of his mind and heart but is struggling with the information that he possesses and he knows that if he tells Tina, he could lose her and the kids.
I loved the way that Kyle was always there for Tina, Callie and Teddy. Even broken, or so he thinks, he is easy to swoon over. The two of them bring out the best in one another and as time goes on it feels that they were meant to be together.

Imperfectly Yours is the first book I've read by AJ Ranney and I adored Kyle and Tina's story!

There is an immediate attraction between Tina and Kyle from the moment that they meet. Imperfectly Yours is a great grumpy/sunshine romance between two characters who each have a complex past. Tina is mourning her husband, who was KIA, while trying to navigate raising her two young children. Kyle is a medic who was released from active duty following an injury and is having a difficult time navigating what he does next. Unbeknownst to Tina, their lives are tied together and the secret that Kyle is keeping may shatter any chance they have of a future.

I thought that Ranney did a great job in writing this story. There are some delicate plot points in Kyle and Tina's tale, and they are handled well. It's emotional and heartfelt, made me cry, and made me smile.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This is my first book by the author and overall I enjoyed it. This is the story of Tina and Kyle.

The Fmc , Tina, is a widow and single mom to her 2 kids. She has recently lost her husband and decided to settle a bit closer to her family.

The MMC, Kyle , is a vet. He recently moved home after his military career was over after about 14 years. He has plans for his life. He doesn’t plan on staying in this small town.

Tina and her kids change him. He starts to see more than getting out of this town. But Kyle is holding a secret. What will Tina think when she finds out his past and secret that he’s been keeping?

Overall , I really enjoyed this book. I found the pace to be fast and that at times tearful for everyone involved. Thank you to Author Agency for allowing me an advance copy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story of Tina and Kyle and their little family is beautifully written and I couldn't stop reading about their love story. I haven't read the other 2 books in the series and you don't need to, to read this book as I feel it is a standalone but I'm sure we got some guest appearances, however I am definitely going to read the first 2 love stories that A.J has written. The other couples and friends that are in the storyline have been written so well and makes you want to keep reading not only for the romance that Tina and Kyle have but also seeing how they interact with their friends and family and creating their own little family in the process.

✨ARC Review✨
.
So this series has been on my TBR for a while so when a book bestie asked “Hey would you want an ARC of this book? UMMM YES!
SO…..Amy & AJ……thank you for letting me read this incredible story.
.
Why is there just something about broken men that makes you want to hold them tight and put them back together again? Being a military medic left Kyle with some scars…physically but also mentally & he’s had a hard time adjusting to “normal life” since being discharged.
Tina just moved to Half Moon Lake with her 2 kids Callie & Teddy since the death of her husband Levi 2 years prior, hoping for a fresh start.
She gets one alright! I mean…really they ALL do.
Seeing the way that Kyle was with the kids, how he paid attention to the smallest things that helped him connect with them both.
Tina & her calming energy is a doll. So fiercely protective of the ones she loves & cares for you can’t help but love her. That & she’s basically Kyle’s personal brand of Valium. Which is something his large family notices immediately since they’ve had a year of Kyle being withdrawn & a bit of a grouch.
They’ve both known heartbreaking loss & seeing the way that they come together and make each other better simply by being in the others presence is just….everything.
.
This is a beautiful story of 2 people navigating life after loss & finding a new life that neither of them suspected.

This is such a heartwarming, beautiful book! I loved it so much! If you love small town, single mom, grumpy hero then check this out!

Kyle and Tina. Connected by a past traumatic event, they connect after Tina moves to Half Moon Lake with her two children after the death of her husband. Tina lost her husband while he was abroad for a military mission.
Kyle is honorably discharged after a serious injury on a military mission. At first, Kyle is grumpy towards Tina but over time, his grumpiness wavers off and he begins to fall in love with Tina and her kids after spending time with them doing fun activities. Tina starts to fall in love with Kyle too but isn't sure how her daughter, who is old enough to catch on, will handle it.
She has put on a brave face for her children even though she is struggling on the inside.
Kyle and Tina have chemistry that simmers then ignites! It's amazing. I love how Kyle is there for Tina and her kids while dealing with his own inner struggles.
I definitely recommend!

RATING: 4.5/5

Tina, a single mom of two, has been through so much. Having recently lost her husband in the military, she raises her young kids independently. Her youngest and adorable son has an incident in the water that causes Kyle to react strongly, but clearly, it is out of concern. This situation leads to many interactions involving Kyle acting out of kindness or showing his interest towards Tina, but he is often reserved and standoffish at times, confusing Tina. She wants to get to know him better, but Kyle holds so much back. Kyle has secrets that he’s afraid may change their relationship.

I loved these two characters. Tina was shown to be a strong single mom, managing everything independently. The emotional torture that Kyle put himself through was felt through the pages. And I loved the epilogue. I enjoyed this sweet and spicy small-town romance.
