Folktales form the Japanese Countryside is a great non-European traditional literature text. The stories are told by Hiroko Fujita and there is history on oral story telling in Japan, as well as a map of Japan. There are stories of animals, village people, priests and apprentices, strange happenings, yamanbas, supernatural creatures and food, games and crafts.
