This was a pretty basic telling of The Princess and the Pea. There wasn't any plot twists or straying from the basic story. It was a very simple telling of the story, but that was what I appreciated about it. This could be paired alongside other versions and tellings of it with the purpose of compare and contrast. The simplicity of the illustrations were also something I appreciated. It was done in a "kid-like" style. Students could use this for inspiration when they write and illustrate for themselves.

Alice (age 5) says "I like the book because the Princess was soaking wet, and she was all soaking wet that she had to go to bed [Alice laughing] and she was a real princess because she felt the pea under 20 mattresses. The Prince wanted to know if she was a princess because she was pretty and he was going to marry the Princesses".

It completes it's function, great for kids, but not for an actual reading session

I am taking the time to review this dumb book in hopes in deters someone from buying this terrible message for their daughter or son. The premise of this story is a prince wants a wife . A girl shows up at the cancel, damsel in distress. The meddling queen needs to determine she's a 'real' princess, a fucking stupid thing in my mind. Why is this a requirement? (You can't marry HER, her parents don't make enough money/move in the 'right' social circles!) anyway her 'test' is to place a fucking pea under a stack of mattresses in hope in causes the girl discomfit. It works, she literally cries the next day at breakfast about it. The queen is overjoyed she's a dramatic snot and the prince marries her. Whoopdefuckingdo.

What is the message here?! Bitch about first world one percent problems and you can get a woman to influence her mamas boy to marry you?

Lo leí en inglés y es super super fácil y super super cortito. Me encantó el libro y las ilustraciones son bellísimas. Igual el príncipe es horrible. El solo se queria casar si era una princesa de verdad. Un poco bastante muy terco y en las pocas páginas me cayó super mal.
Y la princesa llega en la mitad de la noche no le dice ni hola al príncipe y al otro día se casan... fue como ciencia ficcion o magia. No se...
Me pareció medio ridículo.
Lo recomiendo para nenes super super chiquitos. Yo lo había leído a los 6 años y lo había disfrutado un monton

Very cute, a little girl favorite for sure! Stays true to the original plot line but cut a bit shorter. Over-all a cute read to have around and a lesson to be learned: never judge a book by it's cover.

The arrangement of the text is nice, but the story didn't feel great (it was fairly accurate to what I remember as a kid, but I never liked it much to begin with. And why are we encouraging young girls not to sleep well through the night?!). The art was colorful but not my favorite.

I love reading books to my Granddaughter that I have read to my children and to see they love the look as much I as I do and their parents. Another good book to read to your child.
