Having struggled through physics class during high school despite being good at math, I was terrified about taking acoustics 13 (!) years later. Turns out I should have just focused on acoustics and not all the stupid car acceleration problems! I <3 sound waves! This book at first glance looks pathetic: no color illustrations, lots of text, and flimsy construction. But you know what? That doesn't matter, because this book walked me through sound waves and increased my knowledge 100%. I found the explanations thorough and helpful. I learned more about the anatomy and physiology of the ear than from my anatomy of speech & hearing textbook even! So don't let the crappy production value fool you. I haven't read any other acoustics books, but this one certainly lays a good foundation for speech-language pathology and audiology students.
