A witch afraid of her magic. A prince without a kingdom. A guardian with an immortal charge.
Cecilia is mired in grief. Haunted by the lives she took when fighting the god of war and the price she paid to take them, Cecilia knows winning one battle has only postponed the greater war.
A terrifying new power burns through her blood. Rainer’s heart-wrenching confession has her torn between old love for him and new love for Xander. Meanwhile, the enemy is regrouping with the enigmatic trickster god, Cato, at the helm—and Cecilia owes him a favor.
When the Argarian Army attacks and Cato kidnaps Xander, Cecilia turns to her godly half-siblings for aid. But the gods seem more interested in playing games than saving the realm. To rescue Xander, Cecilia must root out Cato’s weakness by diving deep into the gods’ world of favors, completing their tasks, and untangling their riddles before Cato collects on the debt he’s owed.
Perfect for fans of the adventure and romance in Jennifer Armentrout's From Blood and Ash and the political intrigue of Danielle Jensen's The Bridge Kingdom, THE MEMORY CURSE continues to examine how memories bind people together and tear them apart.
When Sheila's not busy stabbing beloved side characters and dreaming up new ways to make her readers cry, you can find her practicing yoga, drinking fancy cocktails with friends, or curled up reading books or tarot. She lives outside Philadelphia with a small army of underwatered houseplants that survive out of spite.
brb while i pick up the shattered remains of my heart after this one.
this is book two of a series! check out my review for book one here.
hello, ANGST. devastating, plot-twisty romantasies with a good love triangle are my i-know-this-is-gonna-wreck-me-but-i-want-it guilty pleasure. and the memory curse doubles up on the angst, doubles up on the romance (while also halving the romance), and doubles up on the character growth.
where the lost god focused more on cecelia’s outward experiences and reactions to shifting circumstances, the memory curse turns inward, as cece examines who she is now, what she’s sacrificed, and what she ultimately wants — all, of course, while fighting an impossible war against two formidable enemies.
while the lost god was a nonstop action-packed adventure, the memory curse slows down significantly, forcing cecelia to sort through and process all of the heavy feelings and harrowing experiences she had over the course of the first book. this book is emotional, it’s cathartic, and while it sacrifices the fast-paced plot development we got in the lost god, it doubles up on the feels as we meet cece exactly where she is — lost.
while the lost god introduced a love triangle of epic proportions (i have not felt this strongly about competing love interests since my twilight days — and even then, i was rooting for the best friend. guess i have a type.), the memory curses focuses on those relationships, and how they mesh — or clash, perhaps — with who she is now.
while this deep rumination is happening within the context of dysfunctional family dynamics and kingdoms at war, to me, this story felt like a love letter to anyone who’s ever done the difficult, heartwrenching work of reconciling their past selves with who they’ve grown into — it’s hard and heartbreaking work to acknowledge mistakes and move forward with love in your heart, but cecelia tackles it with grace and all of her fiery, passionate devotion.
if you’re going into this one expecting the whirlwind plot of the lost god, you may be disappointed, as this installment shines most brightly as a poignant character study — but all of this growth happens amidst a backdrop of mischievous gods and goddesses, and a kingdom under a constant threat of war.
i struggled a bit in the beginning to adapt to the slower pace, but once i recognized this story for what it was — an emotional reckoning for cecelia — i thoroughly enjoyed it. be warned, though — while there are clutch-your-chest-in-panic plot twists, if dialogue-heavy, character-driven romantic stories aren't your cup of tea, you may struggle with this sequel.
buuuuuut, if you’re into angsty love triangles, declarations of love that will make you want to rip your own heart out, plot twists and betrayals, you’ll enjoy this one. make sure you instacart some tissues, though, because this one hurts.
thank you to sheila for the ARC (and for handling my onslaught of panic DMs during that chapter with the same humor and grace as her main character 💗)
I read this as a part of the ARC team and while I appreciate the opportunity to read it before publication, unfortunately ..I didn’t like this at all. I have to rate it 1.5 and that’s being generous.
This felt like it fell so far from the first book. The first one was interesting with the concept of a living god and an urgent war on the horizon and this one ..the entire plot was a bad love story.
I didn’t like any of the characters in this, and the ones that I found annoying in the first book were even more annoying to me here.
I don’t like how Xander was used as a plot device to further the romance between Cece and Rainer. It just felt ..disingenuous to me. Like we can look past the instalove that they had, but why did Cecilia even marry Xander to begin with??? She married him and then proceeded to pine after Rainer for their ENTIRE marriage? It wasn’t making sense to me. It’s not even a love triangle because one guy got royally shafted for another by way of emotional and physical cheating lmao. And cheating doesn’t really bother me as a plot device but something about this just rubbed me the wrong way. It was just straight up character assassination for no reason imo. Then, along side the cheating everyone was somehow managing to “betray” her by making deals with Cato to make sure she was in love with them? It was mind boggling. Like at this point girl you need to be single. But instead of choosing herself by choosing to be single, she went from relationship to relationship.
I also didn’t like how Cece claimed that she wanted to be her own person but then regularly made bad choices “for love” or for some other non-good reason that just made things worse for herself and the people around her. She wasn’t very smart. And then suddenly at the end of the book she’s smart enough to outsmart the trickster god who’s been playing everyone like a puppet for 2 books? I don’t think so!
So much time in this book was wasted on this love story that ..truly annoyed me. The fantasy part of the story fell to the wayside hard. Every fantasy aspect of this plot that the main characters interacted with ALL somehow came back to Cecelia and Rainer making out. Like why was everyone obsessed with them kissing? Why was Cato in love with Cecelia? Why was anyone in love with her when she had no backbone? I know I’m supposed to think that she’s this strong person but she wasn’t giving me any indication that that was true.
I wanted to like this because the first one had a ton of fight scenes, action, and actual plot but this one was just …an exhausting love story that I didn’t care for.
I appreciate the ARC, and I want to tune in for the rest of the series to see if the war actually becomes the pressing topic that it was made to be in the first story but this one was just not it for me unfortunately.

Loved the continuation of this story. Sheila manages to capture so much in this book... continued world building, deeper understanding of the magic system, great character development and banter, heart pounding action, mystery and heartache. I can't wait until the next book to see what happens. This series has been so much fun to discover and has continued to develop so beautifully! Honored to have the opportunity to beta read it and I sincerely hope all of you will check these books out!
EXHILARATING! - blood, sweat, tears. hopes, dreams, fears. love, lies, loss. twists, turns, triumphs. sheila has once again captured and enraptured her characters and readers in a tidal wave of story craft. be prepared for heartbreak, bravery, tenderness and the power of memories and love to prevail. so excited to have been on the ARC team and to have read this immediately!
The love triangle and meddling gods continue. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the love triangle and my heart has ached for all involved at one point or another but I don't think that trope is for me. While I enjoyed this and the wild ending, I was hoping for more world building and/or magic. The love triangle has taken precedent over all other plot lines and I think I'm over it. Hoping things pick up in the next book and this is just another one of those unfortunate book 2 incidents.
I tried this series again but I’m sorry I can’t stand Cece and I really really hate cheating in books. Also finding out she doesn’t end up with the love interest I like made me lose interest entirely
“The point is, you wanted freedom and time and you got it. You were obsessed with having the power to change things until it was handed to you. Now all you want is to give it back.”
A beautiful story about internal growth and the complexity of love within an adventurous and humor-filled fairytale.

Ratings & Reactions
✧ Overall: 4/5 ✧
I adored the continuation of Cece’s internal journey, love story, and magic filled adventure. Sheila writes so beautifully, and there were so many memorable and resonant quotes throughout.
✧ Pacing: 4/5 ✧
Sheila knew what she was doing when she split this book into parts; each had its own focus that flowed naturally and kept me engaged, with the end cleaning everything up beautifully!
I have a personal preference towards external battles versus inwards battles, so I did find the first part of the book a little slower. It focuses a lot on the emotional recovery Cece goes through, and the last two parts also have several scenes dedicated to Cece’s emotions. I favored the last two parts because it wasn’t the primary focus, and especially loved how perfect the last part flowed and ended.
On the flip side, I feel that Sheila’s story was incredibly impactful on reminding you that part feminism means accepting all individuals are worthy of their emotions. In addition, this is probably one of the few stories where the FMC reacts as any of us humans would in main character fantasy world positions. Lastly, the focus on her internal journey allows us to see Cece’s journey as a whole, and it’s a beautiful story of growth. So, while I initially didn’t love the repeated focus of Cece expressing her more sorrowful emotions throughout the book, I think it was brilliant how Sheila broke the rules and taught us an impactful lesson.
“It was easy to be brave with a sword in your hands - much harder to be brave with your heart in them.”
✧ Romance: 4/5 ✧
Sheila is clearly the queen of love triangles, because it had me in a choke hold the entire book. I am a Team Rainer girly, but I could NOT determine who I thought the best partner was for Cece, especially in the first half of the book. Sheila did a wonderful job at keeping you guessing and showing us that neither love interest is perfect.
“Cecilia wanted to be loved for all that she was, not in spite of her darkness.”
I also really really appreciated how Sheila illustrated that love is complex and that you can have love for two people, but in different ways; neither are (necessarily) more or less, just different.
Finally, I really loved who Cece chose in the end. I’m keeping this review spoiler free, so I’ll say that it’s not as simple as choosing between the two love interests, and I applaud Sheila and Cece for her choice.
✧ Characters: 4/5 ✧
I loved SO many characters in this story and was obsessed with all of the gods/goddesses we met. They were hilarious and crude. Really, all of the comedic relief was on POINT.
Even with all of the sides Sheila’s characters have, the way she ended the book truly made you love each and every character, whether you were on their team previously or not. I am rooting for EVERYONE (except the obvious villain lol), and honestly cannot wait to see where they go next.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨ 📖: The Memory Curse (The Lost God Book 2) 💻: Out now and free in Kindle Unlimited!
Please excuse me while I pick up the broken pieces of my heart…😪
The Memory Curse picks up immediately following the earth-shattering events of the first book. This story explores the desperation for love, acceptance, the choices that define you and the choices you make for yourself.
My favorite love triangle Cece, Xander, and Rainer face a formidable foe and the balance of the kingdoms and their futures hinge on the choices they make and the memories binding them together…
This book is so beautifully written! Sheila’s words are pure poetry 🤌. This is a book I savored and absolutely plan to reread multiple times. The tender and passionate moments are enthralling. I was having heart palpitations from a single kiss alone 😮💨
I loved meeting the new cheeky characters mentioned in the first book and hope to see more of them in subsequent installments 👀
I remain hopelessly in love with both MMCs and how they compliment and balance Cece. Rainer and Xander are so different but they both fiercely love and fight to protect her.
The relationship Cece has with herself really shines throughout this book. She slowly begins to embrace and accept all the untapped parts of herself and the power of her choices. I hold her so close to my heart- her compassion, vibrancy, and fearlessness with how she loves. I cannot wait to continue their journey, as much as my heart is hurting.
Sheila brilliantly weaves an emotional, searing, and epic love story that pulls on the nostalgia of old love, the thrill of new love, and the heartache of love lost.
The Lost God series is perfect if you’re looking for an unforgettable romance filled with endearing MCs, meddling gods, intrigue, heartache, and delightful banter.
The third installment, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 is releasing in ONE WEEK and I think I’m prepared as much as I can be 😭
Oh yes! The story has matured quite a bit and so have the characters. The world building, magic system and especially the unique mythology are all further expanded and explained quite nicely. Shiela writes so beautifully that I felt quite comfortably transported into this world, just as with the first one.
We get all three main POVs - but we never lose a sense of mystery that's constantly there amongst them. There is a feeling of grief intertwined with some strong emotions, which is given an honest arc and comes into play for the choices they all make. It all felt quite real.
This is not an easy story to love, because it makes you face things you would not want to - regrets, loss, grief - but the skilful writing makes it one to adore and cherish. The enchantment of story never got weak for me!
Sheila is an extremely talented author and I can't wait to read more stuff from her!
I’m fuckin pissed that I got Tamlin’ed again 😖😫 I always fall too hard for the first love interest. Also Rainer is sweet but I dunno I still think he kinda sucks for book one’s shenanigans
Also, why does Cece cry in every single interaction ever? She’s like me fr fr (after a bottle of red wine)
The memory curse resumes shortly after the end of TLG. Sheila tackles topics of grief, betrayal and manipulation. Her writing on these topics were beautiful. The world building and the gods were some of my favorite aspects of the two novels and I hope we get to see more of them in the upcoming books.
TMC seemed to be really character driven, all realistically flawed with great supporting characters. At the ending of TLG I was conflicted on whom I rooted for in this love triangle. However, a god of manipulation is in play, so I went back and forth a lot and I do think Cecelia ends up with the right one.
It’s an easy read but I wish we’d gotten to see Xander and Rainer grovel more for their mistakes and gotten to see Cecilia embrace her powers and the female rage. I’m looking forward to the next book to hopefully see a certain character get the ending they deserve and how this war plays out!
The biggest thanks to Sheila for providing me and E-ARC of The Memory Curse in exchange for an honest review. Happy release day!!
Hello, fellow romance readers, do you need a fix? Because this is Romeo and Juliet on crack. Like if Tybalt also loved Juliet, but then arrogant Shakespeare himself said “whatever, I made you, my hat’s in the ring now too.”
A slower, ruminating, more emotional and spice-filled journey than the first installment, our beloved characters are back and each one is being beaten with a different metaphorical bat. Relationships are at the forefront—friendship and romance, yes, but also family members are sticking their noses where they shouldn’t be and stirring the pot. Add in a few dashes of torture and some death.
What? You thought this was going to be a sunshine stroll? Hahahahahahahahaah—Sheila Masterson is off somewhere saying “hold my drink.”
TMC takes you on the 3D adventure ride of your dreams… and then you get off and remember you’re 30+ and puke in the bin by the exit. That’s me, hi, I’m laying on the floor, listening to Hozier and trying to make the walls not move.
5 gut wrenching, sob inducing, inhaler needing, soul crushing stars.
"Name the fear and you take away it's power."
"Love wasn't about the grand sweeping gestures. Love was looking into the darkness inside of another person without judgment, and sometimes seeing your own reflection in that wild dark."
DO YOU LOVE TO HAVE YOUR HEART RIPPED OUT AND STOMPED ON JUST TO HAVE IT PUT BACK TOGETHER SO IT CAN BE SHREDDED INTO TINY CONFETTI LIKE PIECES? Then this is the book for you.
Book 1 of The lost god series was action packed and stress inducing to say the least. And while the memory curse is sure to keep your attention from the first page, this book definitely deals with lots of heavy emotions and a deep introspective look into our favorite characters. You know those moments where a character may have made a choice or two that made you think "now why the hell would you do that?" This book gives you the clarity to understand the motives and the "why" behind their actions. This is like reading a therapy deep dive but in the most entertaining way.
If you thought book 1 had a love triangle, BUCKLE UP for book 2 because somehow Sheila has written the most agonizing love triangle I have ever read. Her ability to write such depth into her characters makes you see both sides to everything they do and you can't help but fall in love with them both! I still stand by my argument that this should become a why choose. They're both too good to miss out on.
We get to watch Cece navigate the trials and tribulations that bring her to this overpass where she has to come to terms with who she is and what she has become. And she can't help but fear that she will lose the people she loves from her past once she fully acknowledges who she is now. This book is perfect for anyone who has ever suffered to sort through mistakes, anger, growth, and regret. But managed to come out the other side stronger than before.
Believe me when I tell you I finished this book a week ago and my cortisol is still trying to level out. Just when I thought I was done crying after a moment ripped me to pieces. I gathered myself... trudged on...just to have my soul absolutely eviscerated from my body. And I mean that in the best way possible. This book brought up emotions that I haven't felt while reading in so long.
Sheila's writing is so emotionally intimate you can't help but weave yourself together with each of the characters. I feel like I can see their f*cking souls. The good and the bad. They are all so beautifully imperfect in the most human ways. I would bet that every person that reads this book could find a piece of themselves in each and every character. Even if you wouldn't personally do some of the things these characters do you understand them and their driving emotions so clearly that you have full empathy for why they do what they do.
The writing in this book is so cozy and romantic that I dare someone not to have full body chills at least once while reading it.
"it felt like their souls were born of the same star, breathed into life by the same wish." "His love for her felt ancient, as if born of the last gasping wish of a dying god." ...yeah. Shakespeare's been real quiet since Sheila wrote that line.
If you love: Amazing love triangles Spice Gods and bargains All of the angst and pining you could imagine Multiple POVs
Then please, for the love of everything in this world, please read this book. You won't regret it, but your tear ducts sure will. I'll set up a gofundme for all of the therapy sessions Sheila will have to pay for after this one.
Sheila Masterson - The Memory Curse // Netgalley ARC in exchange for a honest review
Holy moly what the actual f*ck went down in this book??? I can’t even gather my thoughts to write a comprehensive review.
What I can say is that this book has even more drama and action than the last. The feels hits harder and I was ruined. This book ruined me. My heart broke for my poor babies and I’m still not sure what to think about it. Still the best and most heartbreaking love triangle I’ve encountered recently. Wait, love quadrant? 👀 Sh*t is definitely going down in the next book…
There’s a lot of trauma in this book, but Sheila wrote it delicately and handled it with care. It was heartbreaking to see Cece and Xander work through all the traumatic events but what I loved the most was the understanding. The compassion and understanding between them. Even though one did and said horrible things the other understood that it wasn’t their fault and it was always something else behind. Which, WHYYYYYY????
Everything is more complicated and messy in this book, but its still amazing. I don’t know how, but the story has advanced from book one. When I said The Lost God was criminally underrated, what do you think I’ll say about The Memory Curse? I need someone to discuss it with! READ!!!
The Memory Curse is a gift to fantasy romance, seriously it’s so good. I cannot love Cece more.
The Memory Curse starts off following Cece, Xander and Rainer as they navigate life after the events of the first book. It quickly pivots into a battle for life and love with Cato the trickster god (and giant asshole). The book is so smart; full of twists and turns, and woven with insight and love and adventure and just everything that makes up a good fantasy romance. The writing is exquisite and so detailed, giving the perfect depth and amount of inner dialogue without crossing the line into repetition.
Thank you so much to Sheila for providing me an ARC of this book. I knew TMC would be incredible but it absolutely blew me away.
This book has absolutely WRECKED ME. In the best way possible. The way Sheila writes is so so powerful and moving and it takes my breath away. Like, how the heck are these characters not real?!? I’m always amazed when an author can make me really truly relate to one character and their pov, but to do it from multiple perspectives and each one is as moving, compelling, and relatable as the other? Incredible. I am going to be recovering from the rollercoaster of emotions that was this book for a while. And damn did I enjoy every moment of the whole ride.
the craziness that is this book is something else! so many things happen and i just can't keep up (in a good way). i love this series and i will never stop talking about it. so if you haven't read it, you should!!!
Ugh. This became almost exhausting to read after a while. Cecelia’s constant droning on was to a point it was so insufferable, I couldn’t stand her anymore.
I just couldn’t get behind her continuing this love triangle and flip flopping back and forth so easily while she was married. Didn’t do it for me.
I felt so bad for both Xander and Rainer the entire book, but mostly how wrecked Xander was and in such a disingenuous way. This man did EVERYTHING FOR HER. And she KNEW she still loved Rainer and decided to play like Xander was the one who ruined their marriage. GIRL you shouldn’t have said YES in the first place?!?! How is you lying to him and yourself not worse than what he did by a million miles. And to boot his entire identity family and love get ripped from him in the most brutal way only for you to shove exactly what he knew you were gonna do in his face after??
I wish that the actual rest of the plot mattered at all.
The whole Gods/Goddesses giving her ‘clues’, figuring out how to outsmart Cato, all of it meant pretty much nothing to the story in the end. It’s as if the main reason for the plot just fell to the waste side for the love triangle be the ENTIRETY of the book and it was just too much.
I’m going to try to read the next one but I’m not really looking forward to it?
I’m sorry, this will be spoilery and a little rant, so not sure if this makes any sense. These are my opinions, and I respect if everyone doesn’t feel the same.
No. Just no. This book just kept getting worse. You bring in Xander just to toss him out again. Why make her marry him, just to not. Make it so that he’s the only bad guy here. Yes, he did a lot of fucked up shit, and It wasn’t okay. But they all did. Don’t get me startet on Rainer and how everyone wanted them to cheat. Both physically and emotionally. The entire time. This love triangle was not it for me, and I was just annoyed and furious.
Nothing in this book was final. You have Xander almost dying once, Rainer twice and Cece even closer once, but they all are just fine, because oh, she regret it. She didn’t want to die, so of course she came back because she loved him too much. And now she’s marrying him. She was immortal, he was not. Let’s fix that. And it won’t surprise me if she by the end of the series can have children again too.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The way Sheila writes makes me unable to put her books down!
I listened to this on audiobook and the narrators did an amazing job! Dual narration with Cece, Rainer, and Xander all having their own characters and narrating their whole chapters. You could really feel the emotion, especially with Cece's narrator.
This has a heavy love triangle in it. Both guys are great and she has such a connection with each that it makes it hard to decide who she is going to choose and I love that. This one plays up on her and Rainer's relationship more because of all the meddling Gods & Goddesses trying to get them to kiss and making the feelings rise to the surface.
Things get way more complicated as it goes on and while some things get resolved at the end, there is still room for everything to go haywire!
I definitely sobbed there at the end (and sent videos of me sobbing to Sheila). Bring on the next book!
Read if you love: -Love triangles (not a why choose) -Meddling Gods/Goddesses -Heavy emotion and grief -Memory magic -Multiple POVs
Love being a strength rather than a weakness is a huge theme in this story and it couldn’t have been more beautifully written.
The Memory Curse touches heavily on grief, healing, love, making your own choices, finding out who you are and who you want to be so well.
In addition to all of what i’ve listed above, this book is so so so so sad and will pull very strongly on your heart strings. There are so many scenes in this story that made my stomach drop and made me sick with sadness and anxiety. It is one of those books that tells you exactly what you need to hear even if it hurts.
It tells the story of an inspiring healing journey with lessons I think we all need to hear and apply to our daily lives.
If I could change one thing about this book, it would be how quickly death/near death experiences are glazed over. I felt like I didn’t really get a chance to feel anything before the story moved on. I’m an absolute sucker for sad books and would’ve liked to dwell in the pain just a little bit longer so it hits harder. I totally understand that’s not everyone cup of tea though.
Regarding the love story - i’m not really sure how I feel about it. I find love triangles to be really tricky to read/write but I think the author does a really good job showcasing the great qualities for both love interests. I’m just hoping we see more happy endings for certain characters in the future.
I am loving this series so far and I can’t want to continue to see what Sheila Masterson has in store for us next ♥️
So...I am most certainly not a fan of love triangles but I do think this is one of the better written ones. The guy I pulled for was not who she ends up with. The one she ends up with hurt her too and I held him in contempt for a while but I can now accept him. I think the writing is VERY good and I was drawn into the story despite the pain. Can I add that I really don't like pain in addition to love triangles? People recommend this series jokingly with tissues. Y'all are masochists and yes at the 58% mark I felt I needed tissues. I'm trying to prepare my heart for Book 3 but I don't know that I want to see my failed ship guy search for his new love. I also feel the FMC is going to have even more to overcome after the choice she made at the end of the book. The writing is so good that I will finish this series despite my own hangups! I think that's a pretty good compliment.
“Love is about who you pull close when things are uncertain. Love is the hands you reach for when you’re standing in the heart of the storm and can’t see the path forward. Love tethers mortal souls here in this realm.”
The Memory Curse of book two in The Lost God series which is a debut NA fantasy series from the lovely and amazing @sheilareadsandwrites
If you haven’t read book 1, The Lost God GO READ IT NOW!
When I say I am destroyed by the rollercoaster of emotions that I have had in the last 24 hours, I mean completely and utterly destroyed.
Shelia has created and brought to life such an emotional and amazing story that I just feel honored that I was able to read it and experience Cece, Xander and Rain. The only thought keeping me going right now at 1am is that there will be a book 3. There was no point where i felt the pacing was too slow or the story line was uninteresting. I was sucked in from page one and unable to stop till I reached the end. Even now, after finishing the story , I am still emotionally attached and anguished over Cece, Xander and Rain. I fell in love with each of them for different reasons which caused me to feel so deeply for them and what they are going through.
I can honestly say that I don’t know the last time I cried as much as when I was reading this book and then I cried AGAIN when I went through to look at the passages I highlighted.
This is a must read series if you love: Magic Kingdoms at war Meddling gods Spice Love triangle Plot twists Betrayal Hidden identity Multiple POV Touch them and 💀
I have never had a love triangle that pulled me back and forth on who I like more so much in my life. But all and all I am always team Cece😂😂 The Memory Curse deals with so many different emotions such as love, lust, grief, and so much more that you can’t help but feel for these characters. I feel like this book was slower compared to The Lost God however in this book we dive head first into everyone’s emotions that you learn so much more about our main characters. This book definitely pulled me along with it emotionally and I will need a few days to recover😂😂
So this book was difficult for me to push through. It had a good message to learn from it but I just feel like parts dragged on and it could’ve been that I predicted somethings so it wasn’t t as surprising or I was impatient with her learning to live herself process because I also struggle with that. I just didn’t feel the pull of this book and even though there were moments I loved there was a lot of okay when is it going to be more than just so much sadness and self doubt. I like the book but it just wasn’t a book I felt drawn to keep going or to read all night. I’m moving on to book 3 and I have hopes for where this will go.
This book had absolute crack in it and I'm mad at how it ended so positively when I'm so used to heartbreak.
My God Sheila has done an amazing job with this book, representing so much pain and suffering that comes through loss and grief. My love for Xander in this book went up and down like a roller-coaster, he holds the most special place in my heart and I am a solid Xanelia stan.
I have no other words right now to describe how I'm feeling, all I know is I need to read The Storm King stat.
First this book started off with a bunch of small open door scenes that did not fit the story but rather felt like a forced ideal that the main couple is doing just "fine."
Then when the guy is kidnapped we proceed to see the other side of the love triangle come into play only because every god they meet wants them to kiss?? And play a game??
I was so tired of this repetitiveness and no actual plot was occurring. This is a bummer because I genuinely enjoyed book one.
If you love romantasy books with love triangles that actually have an amazing story line ... you will like this book... the character development throughout was superb. Cece is on her personal journey within herself throughout the story trying to navigate life . Magic..gods..witches... this series has it all. The love triangle had me thr whole way through..some good..some bad... It was a little slow for me ... but worth it !!!
This was good but I felt the love triangle part was drawn out way too long. The plot outside of that was so good I needed more of it and less of the back and forth with her and her feelings. Outside of that the writing is great and the plot is great and I will definitely continue the series.

This book had everything that I wanted from book 1! This was what I was looking for from a Romantasy with a love triangle! I loved the storyline of Cece (FMC) coming to accept herself as she is.
The dynamics between her, Rainer and Xander were so good in this book! Overall, this story is taking a big turn from where I thought it was going to go, but I am here for it!
I almost DNF’d this book at 36% because I was getting annoyed with the meddling gods and their antics and didn’t love where the story was going. But some friends of mine convinced me to keep going and I am so glad that I did!
I was surprised at the ending of this book because again, the story is not going in the direction I thought it was going in. I am equally nervous and excited to read the next installment in this series!
