I've been able to use some of this information as we have been able to make a couple of trips to the Capitol now, but this is not my favorite guidebook. Many travel books brag that they're written by natives of the city or region, and that's great, but sometimes I wonder if the people who live in the city are interested in the same stuff as the people who want to visit there.

Maybe I should give them a break because there's so much stuff in D.C. and it would be hard to write clearly about so much confusing stuff. The information about how to park a car and ride the subway Metro into the city was really lacking, I felt, but that might be because the mechanism is contorted all by itself, let alone trying to describe it to someone who hasn't been there before. I had to have someone guide us in person that way. But we were able to put the maps in the book to good use while we were wandering the city.
