A Matter of Honor by Mandalyn Kaye

A good story.

The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.

Emmy Greene was too busy running her uncle's gem appraisal business to read the news stories of the "Diamond Hawk," a mysterious hero who stopped two robberies right outside of little Carding, Missouri. But she couldn't ignore Joss Brickston, son of the Duke of Albrick, who entered her shop and utterly charmed her. He seemed to prefer her—an unmarried, spectacled, red-haired woman of a certain age—to the pretty courting...until the "Diamond Hawk" came calling in the dead of night. Suddenly staid Emmy was in turmoil, swept into intrigue by a masked stranger and carried toward romance by an English nobleman. She didn't know they were the same man, shattered by tragedy and seeking vengeance even as he broke a woman heart in.......A Matter of Honor
