I Second That Emotion: Untangling Our Zany Feelings
We women are wonderfully made, but, boy, we sure are emotionally intricate. With her trademark conversational style and wit, Patsy Clairmont tackles a subject most women feel at a loss to approach-their feelings. I Second That Emotion takes one of Patsy's most popular topics at the Women of Faith conferences and shows how you can deal with a turbulent emotional life. I Second That Emotion pulls some of our emotions out to examine them individually. Think of this book, study guide, and DVD as a spa-a place to be refreshed, revived, and even repaired a little. Don't allow life to push your emotional buttons till you have an emotional meltdown. Instead, let God help you get untangled.

Patsy Clairmont
115 books141 followersPatsy is a bookish woman who loves words and has a penchant for dark chocolate sorbet. Since spelling bees in grade school, childhood Scrabble games, right up to her current addiction with Words with Friends she has been known to spell it out, to say it like it is.
Much to her surprise Patsy has written a stack of books that continues to light her passion for the printed page. And nothing pleases her more than to share her faith through laughter and tears and to encourage others to flourish.
A former agoraphobic Patsy never imagined the expansive plans God had in mind for her. She just wanted to make it to her neighborhood grocery store and safely home again. Instead, for the past 35 years she has been traipsing throughout the U.S. and Canada, interspersed with trips to Israel and Africa and she has even spoken at the Pentagon for the Flag Officers Bible Study. Patsy has spoken to millions of women (and men) offering spiritual and emotional hope.
Patsy has written books in several genres including devotional, fiction, children’s, and gift offerings. She is one of the founding speakers at Women of Faith and trains people for the platform.
Patsy is the author of over 35 books best-selling books and currently lives in Franklin TN.

Patsy is a Christian speaker and writer. She tells of her severe agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) and slow recovery. Her approach is to use laughter as a key to restoring perspective. One of my favorite lines is "Relax - not everything needs to be formed into words. Remember, the Tower of Babel didn't stand." And: "Verbosity isn't a gift." She gives advice on friendships and warns us not to expect more of a friend than she can give. She promotes gardening, saying, "You can bury a lot of problems digging in the dirt." Good Marilyn Meberg quote: "Emotions don't have brains." I must include the Dave Berry quote since it expresses my thought: "Eating rice cakes is like chewing on a foam coffee cup, only less filling." This was another loaner book from someone who had heard her speak at a women's conference. I enjoyed the book more than I expected and found lots of
good reminders on joyful living. Not every word I read has to be profound to be meaningful.

it was kinda like hearing Carrie Bradshaw of SATC talk if she were a Christian. It was funny and the prose is good, on the other hand I felt that it could have been better had there been more stories on how the author managed to overcome her crazy emotions through God's grace. Still a fun read though.

A mixture of humor and truth! I think most of us can relate to her and her wonderful stories.

I read a lot of good reviews for this book, so I was excited to dive in. Sadly, had a hard time getting into it.

A very short, self-help book and study guide. I liked many of her ideas about how to help "untangle those emotions" we women are oversupplied with. The tips about dealing with anger and self-pity are worth reading although nothing novel. Unlike the author, I don't think I'm at that point in my life (or religious journey) where biblical scriptures provide “insights, counsel, guidance, (and) direction” in my daily living. When things get bumpy, it’s my family and friends that I turn to for help. Maybe if I had completed the study guide I would be more enlightened?!

May 19, 2008I went to a WOF conference and picked up this book. Patsy is a tremendous speaker as well as the other ladies of WOF. I'm looking forward to reading, laughing and maybe crying during this book. I'll let you know how it is.

Patsy has a wonderful way of adding humor to normally boring subjects. Her light-hearted writing style make the book easy to read and relate to. The chapters are short, so you can use the book as a daily devotional/self-help guide.

Excellent book, well written and humorous - which is to be expected from Patsy! Helpful in learning about and untangling the "rubber band" mess of emotions we have. ^_^

Probably a must-read for ladies; some great, intuitive stuff, in Ms. Clairmont's usual poking-fun-at-herself style.

I still need to do the study guide in the back of the book. But I love her humor and insights. So awesome.

Soooo funny, can totally relate to a lot of what Patsy says here. She may be neurotic, but it hits home how imperfect we are and how we can still be good Christian women despite that.
