This kindle box set is from my Kindle Unlimited account box set 1 of 4
I read or listen to each individually. Each story was different with interesting characters lots of action and misdirection some violence leading to each conclusion👒
I would highly recommend this series and authors to readers of fantasy world 🌐 family and friends relationships adventure mystery novels 😮😁 2025 😉✨
Although I often fill in the gaps in a series by reading some of the books in a box set, I rarely review the box set itself. Why this one? The fast-read books in this series tend to flow one to the next. In some ways they are like a soap opera without the annoying story drag. By that I mean, if you miss episodes of a soap opera (because you started a job or the like) and decide to watch it because you happen to be home, you'll find you haven’t missed much. If you miss reading a book in the Vampire for Hire series, you will definitely find yourself at a loss. The books are bingeworthy in the extreme. Except for the first three books in the series (reviews already posted), I am eschewing individual reviews of books four through fifteen.
I am a long-time aficionado of the vampire tale. Dracula? I've read it multiple times. Yes, I've even read the Twilight series. I generally find the differences from one author's vampire mythology to the next are sufficient to keep me interested in reading the vampire sub-genre of horror. The trope can be highly malleable in the hands of a good wordsmith. Granted, your idea of a 'good wordsmith' may differ from mine. Eclectic reader here… remember?
In some respects, Samantha Moon, who is the vampire for hire, is the anti-vampire. She thinks of herself at a mom driving a soccer mom minivan first and foremost throughout these first fifteen books. Even as her son, Anthony, and her daughter, Tammy, reach their tweens and teens she calls them Baby. This attitude on the part of the strong female lead allows J. R. Rain to explore a new, and very different, vampire mythos. It also allows for the examination of God and Satan, heaven and hell, along with religious belief itself. He manages to include most of the tropes in the horror genre writ large.
Although I've read and reviewed the three books in the Samantha Moon Origin series by J. R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox, it isn't until book fifteen in the Vampire for Hire series that we learn just what happened to an apparently ordinary woman out for a moonlight jog.
There was a vampire series back in the 90s, by P. N. Elrod, that I read and considered mind-candy. In many respects, Vampire for Hire is my current favorite mind-candy. They may not be considered literature, but they sure are fun to read!
I have noticed over time that Kindle box sets tend to disappear over time. By obtaining the two box sets that cover the series from first book to thirtieth, you will be well on your way to reading an entertaining series while getting the most bang for your buck. I do recommend that you consider the first book in the series titled Moon Dance: Deluxe Edition, published in 2017; the bonus material is worth it.
The titles included in this omnibus edition are:
Moon Dance (Book 1) Vampire Moon (Book 2) American Vampire (Book 3) Moon Child (Book 4) Christmas Moon (Book 4.5) Vampire Dawn (Book 5) Vampire Games (Book 6) Moon Island (Book 7) Moon River (Book 8) Vampire Sun (Book 9) Moon Dragon (Book 10) Moon Shadow (Book 11) Vampire Fire (Book 12) Midnight Moon (Book 13) Moon Angel (Book 14) Vampire Sire (Book 15)
From book one through fifteen, this series kept me interested and entertained. A married mother of two, a P.I., and a vampire all rolled into a sassy, smart mouthed woman. Someone, or rather something, has threatened her children. She will do anything to keep them safe.
Absolutely riveting, starts off a little slow and gains pace, right to the end, a little comment from an avid reader of these types of books, it would possibly have been better as three books of five. Nevertheless brilliant and end to end enthralling, if could give a rating of 10 it would not be too much
Just when I think I have figured out the direction these stories are going another twist happens. Universal questions asked...answers led to more questions...pretty soon you've read the night away....Start reading this series. I promise you won't regret it. 🔥Warning... Buy both sets of collections together or you will regret that you didn't.
I just love Samantha Moon and her family and these stories full of action storylines great characters tender moments hilarious moments and of course suspenseful horror. I love it.
Go through the life and times of Sam . The way Rain writes how life in our World works is very compelling . You might find it very interesting too. Read now.
The storylines and characters are amazing! And definitely unique. I just finished up the first 15 books in less than a week and have! And more to go with Samantha Moon and Crew!
These stories are so exciting. They are filled with danger but also wonder. The many entities portrayed add so much to the various adventures faces by Samantha Moon. I can't wait to start the next part of the series.
I love the super natural, but J.R. Rain adding in faith right beside vampires, witches, werewolves, and who knows what else has made him one of my top favorite authors!! Cannot wait to continue the box set of Samantha Moon!!
Just a normal vampire mom trying her hardest to be on time to pick the kids up from school. Now if only the Sun, universe and "bad guys" would get with the plan. Love the depth of Thought!
The world-building is rich, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the supernatural realm crafted by Rain. From vampires to werewolves and everything in between, the series explores a diverse range of paranormal elements that add complexity and excitement to the overarching storyline.
The pacing is well-maintained throughout, ensuring that the momentum and tension build seamlessly from one book to the next. Rain's writing style is accessible yet immersive, making this collection suitable for both avid fans of the supernatural genre and those new to Samantha Moon's adventures.
I had to make myself put TBE series down and go to work. Every spare second, I would read this series. Keeps you on your toes and wanting more. I highly recommend
Very much enjoyed this collection of books while on holiday. Easy reading and entertaining. Not my usual sort of thing, but just the job for some escapism!
