Val's little brother Teddy is not afraid of anything. That's why Sparky, the new class bully, is picking on him. Val wants to help Teddy fight his battles, but Teddy won't say one word about Sparky - not one word.
Then Val gets an emergency call at Animal Inn. "My pet cat is sick," a scared little voice says. "Come quick!"
When Doc and Val answer the call, they find a cat that's close to dying. Then Val asks the name of the pet and his owner, and she gets one big surprise. This is #4 in the Animal Inn series.
Scaredy Cat is the fourth book in a series of 12 books - about the Taylor Family of Essex, Pennsylvania. Dr. Theodore Taylor is a vet. He has 3 children - Valentine (Val or Vallie - who wants to be a veterinarian - who is a 13 year old girl) - Erin (who is 11 and wants to be a famous ballerina) - and Teddy (who is 8). These books follow their adventures.
In this book Teddy gets a black eye at school. The person who punched him in the eye is a young girl, Philomena Sparks (called Sparky). Dr Taylor and Mrs Sparks work to resolve the differences between the two children.
In between - there are a wide variety of animals to be taken care. It was really a cute book.
