Boots gets up to all sorts of ridiculous mischief, told in an engaging comic strip style.

About the author

Satoshi Kitamura was born in 1956. After dropping out of school to pursue art, Kitamura decided not to attempt a 10-year apprenticeship as a potter and instead worked as a graphic artist. He was not trained as an artist, but at the age of 19 began to do commercial work as an illustrator for adverts and magazines. He moved from Tokyo to London in 1979 where he worked mainly at designing greeting cards.
Satoshi Kitamura has won several awards, including the Mother Goose Award, the National Art Library Award from the Victoria and Albert Museum, and a Nestle Children’s Book Prize Silver Medal. He lives in Japan.

Lot of strengths: the endpapaers, the 6-panel interstitials, especially the one with pen and brush. Negatives: A little too much narration, making it a point that six cats are hanging out together and none of them are girls. I don't have a quota, it was just weird that he drew attention to it.

This book has a cute style and all the charm of Satoshi Kitamura's illustrations. It's not great for reading aloud due to the comic book style, but our girls enjoyed it anyway. Funny, silly, and a little bit odd, as we've come to expect from Kitamura-san's books.

This is a graphic novel because it is a book of different comic stories that go together. This book is a cute little collection of three different stories about Boots the cat. Boots is a clever, silly little cat with a knack for adventure. In the first story Boots plots to get his spot on the wall back. In the second one Boots learns how to swim. In the last part Boots plays charades with his cat friends. I would recommend this book to kids in kindergarten through second grade. It is a funny, active story with lots of silly drawings that kids that age would enjoy.

Satoshi Kitamura is one of my most favorite children's book illustrator and this book, about Boots the cat, is as charming as Kitamura's other characters. This book contains three short stories about Boots and his adventures. There is much more text in this book than Kitamura's others but there are also several pages, as well as the endpapers, that are only pictoral that tell lovely little stories as well. I love searching through the detail in the background and love the watercolor feel of the illustrations.

Classic favorite of my brother's, and a great introduction to comic books. I always felt like there was another collection of Boots' adventures somewhere, so it's nice to see goodreads kind of confirm that.

the art style is super frickin adorable and the panels fun & easy to follow.

However, there was weird fatphobic jokes which always rubs me the wrong way, especially when its for kids. and a tiger woods reference????? old as hell lol

This is the comic adventures of Boots the cat, told in three short stories. My favorite adventure was when Boots is trying to reclaim his favorite sleeping spot on the wall and is aptly entitled "Operation Fish Biscuit." Overall, this is a very cute comic book style short picture book. I was getting a little overly eye stimulated with all of the cats but it fits with the overall theme of this particular story. My favorite thing is the where Boots is drawing on a piece of paper and occurs between the various stories.

We LOVE Satoshi Kitamura!

This book of comic stories about Boots the cat is at times surreal, and very often funny. Please watch 20-30 cats try to make a pyramid to get treats off the roof of a building and tell me you aren’t chuckling a little, at least in your mind.

Kitamura’s art is extremely expressive. I had no idea that cartoon cat faces could convey so many different emotions. This is a true all-ages comic.

Three short tales about the mischievous antics of Boots the Cat.
I didn't fall in love with this title, but that wouldn't stop me from recommending it to kid that liked humor and/or animals. It was cute.

This book is good for a person that can read a graphic Novel but I did not like this book. Hard for me to read and understand and the bubbles were so scattered on the page I just could not get into this book.

Boots's serious, deadpan approach to most situations provides the most humor, especially when it is contrasted to the relative simplicity of the other cats' sensibilities. Read this years ago and am rereading it as a part of a comics weeding project I'm working on.

Read this years after reading the "Cat is Sleepy" series to my kids when they were young. Very cute and obviously a lot of work went into drawing these pages. Love the cat!

Three short graphic stories about the same group of cats, compiled into a brief graphic novel. The first and third stories, when Boots is accompanied by his cat buddies, are quite funny. Expressive full-color art adds to the humor as well. Will appeal to children, but appropriate for all ages.
