Get prepared for company with these recipes for great tasting muffins, loaves, biscuits, scones, and quickbreads--all quickly and easily prepared without yeast.
This is my third copy. I wore the others out! It was the first cookbook I bought, back when I was in home economics in public school. It's where I learned to bake and now, my son calls it the cookbook that never makes us cry.
After reading this book I found that most of the recipes aren’t what I’d make for friends and family. I know I wouldn’t make recipes like dill dip, Tuna Dip, onion melt, or cottage cheese muffins. I’ll admit theirs a variety of food in every category however it just wasn’t for me.
I love all the Company's Coming cookbooks. This one is my go-to cookbook when I need to mix up a quick batch of muffins, a loaf, or a coffee cake. They always turn out! The ingredients are simple and things normally on hand. My copy is well-worn.
My great aunt gifted me her copy of this cookbook after I fell in love with a few of the muffins, the recipes are easy to follow and always turn out great!
Batter splattered pages are just as good an indicator of family favorites as a ear marked page, even more so I think (unless of course the pages have been fused together from said usage & then thats just very sad).
This is our Go-To for muffin baking. Just as it was my mothers when I was growing up & mine while my kids are growing, it will be theirs when they are on their own as well.
CC has a wonderful selection of cookbooks, though if you're looking for fantastic - look for the older publications. Ones that use real ingredients to create yummy treats (instead of the newer ones which often call for "a box of white/yellow cake mix")
It's an excellent cookbook. There are several recipes that I use often. (Banana Bread, Lemon Loaf, Carrot Bread) and ones that I am "Known" to take to various functions. (Lemon Loaf, for example)
(If I decide to make a Lemon Loaf, I have to make 2 of them: there isn't much point in making one. My husband comes into the kitchen, inhales once, and the Lemon Loaf is gone!)
