This collection of short stories is a quirky lot.

"The Perfect Proposal" is the longest story of the selection and could easily be turned into a full-length novel. This story makes you wonder if a wedding proposal is worth it and if it is what exactly "is". Clare and Matt seem to be the perfect couple and things are going well until Matt decides to stage the perfect proposal, will it be the beginning of another chapter in their lives together or, will the perfect proposal

After reading Ms McKenna’s ‘The Beach House’, I was keen to read more by this author. I discovered a collection of her short stories and sat down happily to experience them.
There are four stories in this one volume: ‘The Perfect Proposal’, ‘Stalked’, ‘The Group’, and ‘Pseudo’. After having read all four, I’ve found a lot to admire in them. They are written competently and most stories contain some humour. Most carry a message. They flow well and are an easy read. It’s a good book for those days

I'm not always a huge fan of short stories, but I really liked each of these. Although short, none were predictable and I was surprised by the twists that appeared in each of the stories in Flashback. Good for a quick read, handy to have on your kindle on the train or while waiting for an appointment.

I prefer reading novels so surprised myself by enjoying this collection of short stories so much. Each story was unique and grabbed me straight away. I can't decide which was my favourite - Stalked or The Group. Great summer holiday read.
