I love when an author writes a short story about a past couple in a series. It makes it more real to me. Yes, I know, it's still fiction, but it just makes that world seem more credible to me, and I just really enjoy it :)

We started the series Night Calls with Felix and Poppy. And now they're back :) It's short, but it's sweet and a lot of growth happens. And appropriately enough, trust. These two had incredible chemistry from day one and it still continues to be so and J.C. Valentine has a way with words that will melt your panties right off #TRUST :) But this is not a sexual story, it's more of a growth story and a relationship strengthening story. And it's awesome!

Novella , provided by the author for an honest review!

Honestly, Ms Valentine once again does not dissapoint . "Trust" is a wonderful continuation of Poppy'sand Felix's story from her book Stranded, which I loved.
I am so glad she returned to their story I feel like I haves greater sense of closure and completion to their story their story line and I loved the way she did it !

Poppy and Felix have been happy together for a year, living together at Felix's condo, using her home in the country on the weekends and working together and on top of it all till having incredible sex! Well, until Felix starts having mysterious meetings, missing lunch together and coming home late. The title for this book is perfect, because the whole story revolves around trust in you significant other.
Trust does not come easy for Poppy; she has been burned before, will her love for Felix help strengthen her trust? Is Felix up to no good ? Can Felix explain satisfactorily about his time away?

Guess you will have to read, I got m answers and loved every minute of the journey!

I received an complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am itching to give this 4 stars, but I am held back by the sheer silliness of the "big reveal". I liked this follow-up to "Stranded" as it gave me more about Poppy and Felix. The end of Stranded held some promise for them.

It picks a year after they originally meet or start seeing each other, and things are plugging along as any relationship where things are getting serious will. This time, as the title suggests, there is an issue of trust. The story starts out with a bang & we see them happy, and then all of the sudden Poppy see's that Felix is hiding something and she feels him pulling back. She catches him in some lies and half truths and chooses to go forward and trust him. Now we have an angsty love story.

From the outside looking in, we are led down the path and we know something's being hidden, there is someone he's meeting with very often and the storyline suggests this goes on for weeks. And that's where it falls a part. Once we find out why and where they meet the plausibility DIES and the story goes way off track. Are they designing a ring or melting the gold and digging for and cutting the diamond themselves? It wraps up with the reveal and Poppy's quick acceptance of his proposal. Maybe a lead up to another novella about hem?

I really liked it until the last 3%. I'd recommend if you read "Stranded" and want to find you what's next for them.

3.5-4 Star Novella

You first meet Poppy and Felix in J.C. Valentines first book in the series Stranded (Night Calls #1) and see glimpses of them throughout the other books in the series. When reading Surrender to Love (Night Calls #3) you find out that Poppy believes Felix is cheating on her, so I couldn’t wait to read Trust to find out what was going on.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD

This Novella was really hard for me to rate because it did keep me interested, but the ending felted rushed and I would have asked more questions if I was Poppy, but other than that frustration, Trust was a page turner and I’m happy that they got their HEA.

Received an ARR in exchange for an honest review.

We first meet Felix and Poppy during Stranded which was a fantastic Novella that showcased great chemistry between these two characters. In Trust, we see the remains of insecurity that linger from Poppy's last relationship. As Felix starts to behave oddly, everything within Poppy wants to trust in their love, to trust him. But some wounds never heal and the feeling of history repeating itself is just too strong to deny.

For Felix, sneaking around behind her back isn't the way he wants it to be, but in order for everything to work out the way he wants - he sees no other way. Unable to see the cracks he is causing in their relationship, he is stuck having to fight for the one thing he wants, Poppy.

J.C. Valentine does a beautiful job giving us so much with this novella. I have enjoyed each one of these installments and have thoroughly enjoyed the style in which she spins her tales. Felix & Poppy's story was one of my favorite of the series so far and although I had to roll my eyes at the obvious error in Felix's judgement, I still enjoyed the heck of this novella.

This is a nice little story to carry on this great series! I really like Felix and Poppy and was glad to read more about them, but maybe it was a little too short to feel deeply this time around. I was very proud of Poppy for standing her ground and walking out on Felix. His reasoning for the things that went on made sense, I suppose, but I just wasn't 100% sold on him this time and I think if the novella went a little beyond the make-up scene, I would have gotten there... Because I do love him and believe him!! This is a really great series with fun, heart-warming characters that I look forward to continuing to read about!

I have been a complete fan of this series ever since I had read the first one not so long ago. I really do think that this author is bringing a breath of fresh air into the writing world because of their ability to write great stories that include many amazing details. All of the characters they create are done to an extreme level that you are not left wanting for more from them. The only thing you are left wanting more from is books from the author!
We have met Felix and Poppy in the other books in the series and I was always left wanting to know more of their story! Well when the chance came to receive and ARC from the author for the next part in their story, I jumped on the chance for it.
One thing that I loved with this novella was how real the story was. The couple was going through real life issues and it made the story that much more realistic. The smuttiness that happens during the story is completely off the charts, but I do have to say that I am completely glad that the author didn’t make the story about that completely.
There were certain parts of this story that had me sitting on the edge of my seat because I was completely confused about what was going on. But I can say that I am completely glad overall with this story. My main complaint is that I wish the author would stop teasing us with these short novellas! I want more Felix and Poppy!

Felix and Poppy's story continues from Stranded.....can two people that meet each other by a chance meeting on the side of the road, work together and now live together ? But where will they live...in the city or the country, as Felix calls it. Can Felix give up his condo in the city and can Poppy leave the country where Bo has a yard to run around in or will she take him to the city and use a leash to walk him, which will not make Bo happy. Is Bo her crutch for having a baby, which all her friends are all having or they are all engaged or married but her.

But Poppy is feeling a little uneasy but there relationship, Felix seems distant and has been Coming home from work late and leaving earlier and earlier in the morning....what is he doing ? Can she TRUST him with the reasons he is giving her that it is all Business related or playing golf with the guys....hmmmmm but who is Gianna ??

I received this ARC book for my honest opinion and I have to say the suspense of what will happen on the next page will keep you turning the pages fast !! I loved to see all of the past friends from the other 3 books !! Can't wait for more !!

I was given an ARC from the author for my honest review.

First off, I love this series.

Possible spoilers****

Finally a continued book on Felix n Poppy. I was wondering what has happened to them.
Even tho they had some minor parts in the other books but not enough to know where their relationships stands, but now we know (kinda lol)

Poppy and Felix has been together for over a year now. Everyone has has been either married w a kid, engaged w a kid, or dating. Poppy is in this stage in her life where she wants more n she thought Felix was on the same page.
She had already had trust issues since her ex cheated n lied to her. Thinking Felix wasn't ever going to do that. When things doesn't always goes as plan. Felix started acting funny n lying.
There's a lesson here don't lie. Honestly is always the best policy unless you want to lose the best thing in your life.

There is a HEA but I still want more . Like an epilogue or something idk am weird like that. Lol

Thank you JC for sharing . Can't wait for more!!! :)

Received ARR for honest review!

Not normally a fan of novellas because of the rushed story and lack of real grasping characters, I have to say this novella lacked absolutely nothing. If anything, it had just the right amount of suspense, intrigue and sex to make it a highly recommended must read from me!
I was seized from the first scene and couldn’t put it down until I was finished.
Poppy and Felix are an average loving couple with their fair share of everyday struggles, but when Felix adds an unwelcome mystery to the mix, Poppy’s past and her suspicions have her heart conflicted and needing answers. Felix has a big secret and in trying to keep it just that, he is causing a wedge between them as he slinks around behind her back and tells lies he doesn’t want to tell, only to hide his secret. Throw in ‘Bo’ and his undying loyalty to Poppy and you have one hell of a story.
Thank you J.C. Valentine for a terrific novella, you have a new fan and I look forward to reading all your books!

I've missed this pair who we've previously met in 'Stranded' when their love story began. Felix and Poppy are still living happily in their two places (his condo and her country home) but Felix is keeping a secret. In hopes of giving Poppy the surprise of lifetime begans to keep a secret and due to her past with her ex Jimmy she begans to think the worse. Which is heightened when she arrives at his condo set surprise him, when he walks in with a female friend one look and the distrust turns into a full blown misunderstanding that leaves them both miserable. Felix after advice from a friend decides to make things right and risk everything. Once the truth of his surprise is revealed (cue the tears) Felix, Poppy, and Bo are soon to be united as one happy family. A beautiful love story I couldn't be happier for the pair.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a review.

This novella picks up around a year after "Stranded" ended and we see where Felix and Poppy are. Felix has been acting differently lately causing Poppy to doubt their relationship. She was screwed over by her ex so she automatically jumps to conclusions when she finds out he's been lying about working late. As the novella continues, we see the characters struggle to stay together. This series is so good at grabbing your emotions and I believe that this was an excellent addition to the series.

I absolutely LOVE the "Night Calls" series and seeing other characters pop up thought the book. I only wish it were longer because I read it in one sitting and now have to wait for the fifth book in the series. I can't wait to read more from J.C. Valentine!

Trust... A heart wrenching Novella guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end! If one is already a Felix and Poppy fan then sharing Poppy's pain with wanting to believe and trust in Felix's love, devotion and commitment is inevitable! It is hard to hold on to Trust when everything is pointing towards lies and deception... even Felix's long time friends are having a difficult time with Felix's behavior. Should Poppy trust in Felix's love for her? Will Felix be able to prove that he is worthy of her trust or will he will he lose the love of his life forever?

A definite must read! J.C. Valentine never disappoints! This series begins with Stranded. If you have not read this book I would definitely recommend it as well.

**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**

I was so happy to receive this arc! Night Calls is a great series - a must read!

Trust continues the story of Poppy and Felix a year after they first meet in Stranded. Poppy has lots in insecurities after her divorce from her cheating husband, but she feels Felix's love is strong and sincere, until he starts giving her excuses about his day. As everyone know the truth has a way of coming back to bite you and Felix learns this the hard way.

This story has lots of love, emotion and pain in it. It was so good to have more of their story - wished it was a little longer, but great nonetheless. Looking forward to more from this series and definitely more from this author.

I received this book for an honest review. I am so in love with this series, I love every book. This story continues on from stranded and follows Felix and Poppy's story. All is going well and Poppy and Felix have strong feelings for each other. Because of Poppy's past relationships she has trust issues, and when Felix starts to act strangely Poppy gets suspicious and suspects that he is cheating. Poppy plans to surprise him one night but gets a nasty surprise herself which sends their relationship into turmoil. Unfortunately because they work together it makes life pretty awkward. Can love win out and what is Felix up to ? Another scorching hot read, I love it. YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES.

Omission can be as bad as deception and this is a hard lesson Felix learns. Poppy knows something is off with Felix but chooses to believe his explanation because she doesn't want to believe otherwise. This book is well written, their story will captivate and hold your attention till the very last page. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Felix and Poppy seem to have a great relationship, or so Poppy thought so until Felix starts lying to her about where he is or where he's going. She starts being suspicious of him and thinks he's cheating on her. She won't tolerate the cheating because her ex-husband was a cheater. So she's wondering what's up with Felix and him disappearing on her.

Poppy decides to go to his condo in the city to surprise him since they have been arguing and fighting and she thinks that by her going to the condo and cooking him a nice dinner and dressing all sexy might just spice up their romance and not argue. I guess you can say she was surprised when he walked into the condo with another woman. Poppy is so upset at him that she doesn't let him explain why he is with this other woman. She takes off and tells him that she doesn't want to speak to him.

Felix is devastated that Poppy would think he is cheating on her. He has been planning a surprise for her but he doesn't want her to know about it. What is going to happen, is Poppy give Felix a chance to explain himself and prove that he is not cheating on her?

I really enjoyed this book and wish it were a little longer, but I still enjoyed this one very much. I couldn't put it down and I love it when you're reading something and at first can't figure out what the mystery is all about. But I really Loved Felix and Poppy, they are such a cute couple.

I'm sure this could be read as a stand-alone, but I really recommend reading it as part of the whole series. I love Poppy and I love Felix. I've been enjoying them since their first story Stranded, and have really enjoyed them as peripheral character in other full-length books in this series. I care about both of them, and I think that is why I have been a little disappointed in the two shorter stories they were given. Basically, I always want more.

In this story, we see Poppy and Felix still living in between Poppy's country house and Felix's city condo after they have been together for a year. Things are going great, except suddenly Felix starts lying about his whereabouts and keeping a different schedule than usual which starts raising Poppy's alarm bells. She has been betrayed in the past, and is terrified at the thought of being betrayed by someone she loves as much as she loves Felix. Through some tension and mild mystery, we come to find out what it is that is going on with Felix.

Good to read this in the context of the series, but if this is the fist book you are picking up in this series, I would recommend back tracking and starting at the beginning. I've really enjoyed this series, and will continue to read books by this author.

I went into this blind to the fact that there is an actual book out about this couple. Usually with novella's you start reading them and you have no idea what's really going on because you haven't read the book that started it all. I didn't get that with this book at all. I think for me, reading this first, makes me want to go back more so and read how this couple came to be. So I do believe that's what I'm going to do next.
This novella was everything you come to expect with a short story. It had dramatic moments, funny moments and hot moments. It really did have everything.
Even though it was a fictional story, it had very real elements in it as well which made me like it even more. The up and down that comes with truly trusting someone, that plays a very big part in this novella and it was refreshing to see it written with the realism that it was. The way Poppy felt, piecing things together, whether she was wrong or not, women experience that up and down, back and forth everyday.
What else can I say? This was a fast paced, great read. Definitely recommend it.

I'm so glad I followed my gut instinct.

I received a copy of Trust (Night Calls 3.5) to do an honest review. and I'm so glad that I read book 1 Stranded or else I would not have been enjoy Trust fully.

Trust begins or should I say is the continuation where Stranded has left us. Wherein Felix and Poppy continue on with their relationship. Their loving, funny, and trust issued relationship. As the title goes, their relationship is having a "Trust" test. I can't say I blame Poppy for having some insecurities as she has a past where you get to read it in Stranded.

I love both Stranded and Trust. JC Valentine has managed to put everything I love in a book. Love, feeling of giddiness, laughter and angst. I was so angry at Felix for doing it his way as it spelled trouble and stupidity. but then in the end, Love prevails.

I skipped book 2 That First Kiss and 3 Surrender to Love. but with me enjoying book 1 and 3.5, I will for sure read them next.

Received ARC for an honest review.

Continuing the story of Felix and Poppy, the first couple in the Night Call series. It was nice to go back to them and find out the rest of the story in this novella. Poppy was still having some trust issues because of her previous relationship and the fact that Felix is acting strange and lying to her. Poppy does not want to go through being cheated on again.

Felix is trying to keep a secret from Poppy and everyone. He knows its causing problems, but he refuses to come clean. Even when his best friend tells him to be careful before he loses everything. Felix is determined that everything will be okay in the end.

This short story stays in line with the series, and the nice part is the previous characters coming back with updates in their lives. Enjoyed this read.

This is a continuation of Poppy and Felix’s story which was left open at the end of the previous Night Calls book, Surrender to Love. This installment grips the reader with lots of different emotions and secrets being withheld. Thankfully none of those secrets is of a negative nature, and you have an idea of what is about to happen, but can’t be sure until it is revealed. Poppy and Felix are one of my favourite book couples and the steam factor between them does not disappoint and yes, they get their happy ending. A fast paced fantastic read!

I received this book as a free ARR.

Having never read the rest of this series this short novella launched straight into the story. Felix and Poppy are in a relationship and the sex is hot, but all of a sudden Felix starts going to work early and coming home late. Then Poppy discovers that he is not where he says he is. I had my suspicions of what was coming next but was surprised by what was actually going on. This is a short and sweet little novella and I would be tempted to read the rest of the series to learn more about the other characters in the book and perhaps learn how Poppy and Felix got together.

**ARC**recieved for a honest review... Poppy can feel a shift. Something is wrong. After a cheating ex, she has a big problem with trust. Is Felix lying to her? Can she trust him to love her and not cheat? Felix is keeping a secret. He is on a mission and it is ok because the end justifies the means.
JC Valentine tells a quick story of Poppy & Felix and what can happen when you lie and have a hard time trusting. I love this series and the real life banter between the couples. It's like talking with your girlfriends and sometimes we need to hear what others are saying.

Ok i'll admit this was the first J C Valentine book i've read and jumping into a novella that's part way through a series could have been very confusing.

But it wasn't. It was a great little story, that gave enough hints of their backstory that you didn't feel you were missing out. I very much enjoyed the authors writing style and will definitely pick something up of theirs again.

The twist in the tale I didn't really get, it didn't seem plausable, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the novella.

Felix, Felix, Felix … when will you learn. Poppy and Felix seem really happy then Felix's behavior starts to change. For Poppy this is a major red flag since her ex-husband cheated on her. As she tries to deal with her doubts, her worst fears appear to be realized. How will Felix fix his mistake?

I love all the characters in the Night Calls series and the fact that they pop up in each other's stories so you get to keep tabs on the entire group. I believe Bo is the un-sung hero in Trust!

This is the second book in this series I have had the pleasure of reading. I now know that I will have to finish them all. I love J.C. Valentine's writing. Felix and Poppy are in a serious relationship. Poppy has a few trust issues and when Felix starts behaving differently all sorts of warning bells go off. I had a suspicion as to what Felix was up to and its so sweet when he finally comes clean. I loved this story and would highly recommend this amazing series to everyone.
