Give That Back, Jack Part of the "Cautionary Tales" series which help young children to understand and discuss key moral issues, this title features repetitive phrases and rhythmic text that encourages children to participate in the story. Full description
YIKES!!!! That was not the ending I would have expected in a children's story. I actually didn't feel I had an adequate way to explain the moral of the story to Zoe.
This story has alot of repetition in it. It's about a boy who takes everything he wants and everyone always says give that back jack well in the end they are at the zoo an back wants to keep the snake for a pet so he crawls in an the snake eats him now everyone is saying to the snake give us jack back
Hmmmppphh! Jack.. Jack.. Nggak kapok juga ya?
This is a great book for young readers because it has a lot of repetition. The line "give that back Jack!" is a regular and kids will enjoy reading it with you which gets them involved in the story. The pictures in this book also add a positive aspect because they are very bright and colorful so it catches your attention. The only problem with the book is the ending, while it does teach a lesson to not take things that aren't yours it may be a little to extreme. Overall I think this is a good story.
Regardless of the tragic ending, kids LOVE this book! It's the story of a boy named Jack, who took things and never gave them back. It has great rhyme and rhythm and the characters in the book all have awesome facial expressions. I do recommend reading through it prior to introducing it to your little ones.
This was great for so many reasons. Easy to read with repetition that was easy (my son's enjoyed taking turns repeating "give that back, Jack") but Jack gets his comeuppance when he is swallowed by Mac, the python at the local zoo because he wanted to take Mac back home with him.
Plus, I'm a fan of the squishy-like cover and bright illustrations.
great children's book, a laugh out loud kind of story!! it help that I have a brother called Jack so the kids loved that their uncle was the main character!
