Two hearts. Two holidays. One enchanting house swap.
Whoever said "opposites attract" clearly never met me, Emma Starling, a friendly witch with a house spookier than your ex's ghosting skills.
I may have listed my charming home on a house-swap website, but nobody has contacted me, until now. Enter Oliver "Mr. Deck the Halls in October" Green. He’s both insanely attractive and insane for transforming his place into a gingerbread house before Halloween. As our worlds collide through amusing texts and a trail of dares, it’s clear this house swap is about to take an enchanting twist. Despite all odds, we've got more chemistry than a cauldron. Those sparks flying, aren’t just from our clashing personalities. But I can’t shake the fear that my witchy secret will extinguish the heat between us. Honestly, my love life could use a spell or two, but I refuse to change who I am. And most guys, can’t handle who, or what, I am. Oliver is not like most guys (though I’m still not convinced he’s not Santa, himself). Maybe, just maybe, there’s a chance this witch will find love in the unlikeliest of places. Witchever Way You Go is a feel-good paranormal romcom that is sweet but has all the sizzle, swoon, and happily ever after you're guaranteed to love. Buckle up on your broomstick, because this is absolutely a ride that'll sleigh you!
Emma is a witch who obviously loves Halloween but somehow finds herself staying in a decked out Christmas home after playfully signing up for a house swap website. In comes Oliver, the other house swap owner, who’s all but freaked out by Emma’s seemingly haunted dark home with the ever wonderful black cat Binx. Sparks fly though as the two chat through during the duration of the swap…
This is a quick romance read that would pair well with a pumpkin spice latte (recommended by Emma) or peppermint hot chocolate (per Oliver)! Regardless of which holiday you find yourself picking up this book, it’ll put you in the spirit!
*This book was an ARC with requested review where all opinions are my own
“There is something about this connection that feels magical. I may be a witch, but this man has some form of enchantment on me that I can’t explain.”
This was a cute, quirky novella, and a really fun read right before Halloween! 🎃
🧙🏻♀️ Emma is a witch with who loves October, candy, and dark and spooky things.
🎄Oliver loves everything that is bright and cheerful. He loves all the holidays, and goes all out for Christmas, beginning in September.
Neither one has had any luck with love because of their unique personalities, but they see the very best in each other, and quickly fall in love. Opposites do attract, and these two are just perfect for each other!
I loved the romance between Oliver and Emma, and the fun Halloween and Christmas vibes!
This is a Halloween meets Christmas story & it could not be even more cuter. I absolutely loved the vibes this book gave and how the characters started their journey together. This book is mostly everything Christmas and i loved the references that the author threw in. I also thought it was such a neat idea to throw in a "secret" recipe at the end of the book!!

Review:
Witchever Way You Go is an absolute perfect read for October or Christmas- really anywhere from October to December. If you are a fan of The Good Witch, then I think you will enjoy this too!
The house swapping gives off vibes from the movie, The Holiday, except instead of two women house swapping, we have the FMC, Emma, and the MMC, Oliver, swapping houses.
Emma and Oliver are truly opposites, and you can tell right off the bat that they are opposites and that they will fall in love! Their banter between texts, the dares, and the chemistry was all chef’s kiss.
This was another quick read, that I had to force myself not to read in one sitting. I will absolutely be reading more by this author and cannot wait to see what else she has in the works!
*I received this as an ARC, and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review*
If you’re looking for a cute holiday read, this is it!
Oliver and Emma are house swapping for a few months. Her house in Savannah, Georgia has all the spooky vibes given the gothic town it’s in. His house in Stars Hallow looks like Christmas exploded. They are complete opposite, but you know what they say…opposites attract.
Oliver is the biggest cinnamon roll ever and not the typical one, he’s covered in white icing with all the red and green sprinkles. Emma loves all things cute and spooky, including her black cat named Binx. Do I need to say more?🧙🏻♀️
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. You give me all the witchy classics references like Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, etc. plus all the Christmas feels…yep I’m gonna love it! This novella had its laugh out loud moments and was a closed door romance. The only thing I didn’t like - was that I wanted more! I adored these characters and didn’t want their story to end so fast.
Thank you for giving me an arc copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
I 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 reading novellas. There's something about a short, sweet and snappy romance book that I can't help but enjoy. This one was no different!
I very rarely ever read a book where the FMC has the same name as me so it was a bit weird at first but I managed to get past it enjoy the slow-burning ride for what it was ... 𝗖𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗢𝗔𝗗!
Emma lives for Halloween. Oliver lives for Christmas. They're two totally different ends of the spectrum but somehow it works. I was so happy and giddy reading this one.
I was really excited for this goth girl meets jolly hero mashup. Turns out it was super sweet and not cheesy, but had some depth to the characters. And actually, Emma isn’t really a goth girl or Oliver all that jolly. There’s layers and somehow they make for the perfect batch of cuteness.
– this is told from Emma & Oliver’s points of view
– it is mentioned that Emma has no living family & feels alone/abandoned because of this & no guy wanting to stick around after discovering she is a witch
– there is a little bit of innuendo
Review:
This was such a quick and fun read! I loved the idea of an extremely spooky person & a Christmas fanatic swapping houses and it was absolutely wonderful to see the holidays mash into one story! I loved both Emma & Oliver’s personalities so much. I loved that Emma started to mess with Oliver from afar in an attempt to get her house vacated, but it just ended up endearing the two of them to each other. I loved Oliver’s niece and how into Emma’s house she was. I loved that she helped Oliver to see the unexpected joy in living there for the next couple of months. I loved Emma & Oliver’s text conversations as well as their in person interactions as they decided the other person was more interesting than they expected their holiday opposite to be!
Summary:
Emma wished she had the power to undo her contract of house swapping with someone else, but honestly never expected anyone to want to venture inside when she signed up. But someone finally has and when Emma gets to the house she’ll be borrowing, she thinks it must be a joke. While her house is perfectly comfortable and spooky, this one is all bright lights and Christmas shine. Not something Emma finds comforting, especially with Halloween not even having passed yet. She needs to get her swap counterpart to bow out before her eyes get blinded by all the brightness, by any means necessary. If only Oliver Green were that easy to get rid of…
Oliver believed himself to be in luck when he managed to find a house close to his brother’s home with the holidays coming up. But this house makes Oliver nervous because of the eerie vibe coming off it and the fact that he’s not to sure his niece will be willing to step inside. Because the whole reason he did this house swap was to help care for her while her grandmother was cared for by her parents. But as Oliver gets to know the house’s owner through various text messages, he starts to see that person behind the house and finds himself wanting to know more. Would Emma be willing to let their house swap arrangement to include that?
Emma Starling would describe herself as anything but a simple woman. Sure, she's taken up gardening and has a sort of spooky Victorian house and a cat, but she's one thing—a witch. Not the scary kind but the kind that uses her power for good, to influence things that improve lives and make others happy. Too bad she didn't use that power on her best friend when she signed Emma up for a house-swapping site called Home Hokey Pokey. Emma had forgotten about it until a while later when someone booked her home, and she was forced to swap with the stranger.
Oliver Green could not be more thrilled to find a house near his brother to help watch his niece. Leaving behind his overly festive Christmas-decorated house, the only thing on his mind is that he hopes it doesn't blow a fuse when he's gone. He isn't expecting to end up at a house that's the polar opposite of his: Victorian, possibly haunted house. The black cat who lives there doesn't help to make him more at ease, but what does is knowing that the house's owner, Emma, is just a text away. Another thing that he couldn't have expected? He has grown to love his flirty text banter with Emma and longs to know what she looks like. But who could love a mild-mannered accountant? And what is it that Emma seems so desperate to hide from him?
* I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
I had no idea what to expect from this book, as anything related to 'witches' and 'Halloween' isn't something I would normally reach for. Yet the idea of this book being a house swap and the main character Emma reminding me of "The Good Witch" I knew I had to try it, and I'm glad I did! This story was a short and sweet rom-com about wanting to be seen for who you are and loved for your differences, and the author portrayed that quite well. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone looking for a rom-com with a slightly different plot type.
As someone who almost always has her Christmas tree up in October (occasionally even September), this is 100% my type of Halloween read! It's a paranormal romcom (part of the Monster Mash Romcom Madness) with just the right blend of Halloween and Christmas. It's important to note that the FMC in this story- Emma- is a witch, and as such might not be one that appeals to all readers. However, I will say that there is absolutely nothing at all dark about this story. The magic in this story is very much similar to things like Sabrina the Teenage Witch or Bewitched--- lighthearted and friendly. It had everything I love about romcoms, with some fun magic on top of it all.
Oliver is like me--- all about Christmas. So, you can imagine the fun to follow when the two do a house swap! Talk about opposites attracting! It was such a fun idea, and really executed so well too. I couldn't help but enjoy every single minute of the story. This unexpected match is also the perfect match, and I just adored them together.
As I said, as someone who enjoys Christmas earlier, I thought this was the perfect Halloween read for me... but it's also perfect for those who enjoy a little spooky past Halloween and even those who fall somewhere in between can certainly enjoy this one too! At just a little over 100 pages, it's a quick read too--- I easily finished it in just one sitting. Despite its shorter length, it didn't feel rushed or incomplete in anyway (though I certainly could have enjoyed more time with these two anyway). I absolutely loved it!
Witchever Way You Go is a closed-door romance, with nothing beyond kisses and a hint of innuendo. There was no language.

I recommend this one it was so much fun! Personally, I have never read a book like this one. The paranormal genre really isn't for me, but charming, light magic, story is.
Even though this was a novella (short story) I was immediately invested in the story and characters. This was a great time and only took me an hour to read. ♡

Opposites attract when Oliver a Christmas obsessed cinnamon roll and Emma a witch with a love for all things spooky swap houses.
I love both autumn vibes and Christmas so I was very excited when I heard this book combines the two. The author really delivers on the vibes. Oliver lives in a cute little town called Stars Hollow and it is peak Gilmore Girls vibes!
Since the premise of the book is a house swap (just like the movie The Holiday which is a comfort watch of mine every winter) the houses have plenty of character themselves. Oliver’s is cosy and bright with pure Hallmark feelings, Emma’s is dark, creepy and perfect for the Addams family. Our two main characters get to know each other through their houses, seeing what sort of person the other is like via their belongings and tastes in decorating. Then once they get texting they start to feel a connection.
Emma is an actual witch with powers which come in handy since Oliver is looking after his niece and wants to be the fun uncle so Emma ends up using her powers to help him out.
It was really fun to see how their relationship developed from strangers to friends to lovers and the lengths they went to to get to know each other more.
It really is such a sweet read with a lot of funny moments that actually had me laughing out loud. If you’re into Christmas and Halloween this book is one to give you all those cosy vibes!
I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!

“Two hearts. Two holidays. One enchanting house swap.”
Emma Starling, is a friendly enchantingly lovely authentic web-designing witch. She owns a charmingly spookish house complete with a cat named Binx, a good stash of the good candy, and her own broom to fly around, while using her sweet magic for good.
Oliver Green, is a happy go lucky accountant who is fully committed to all the things he loves, including holidays and traditions. He has a way with drawing people in with his genuine happy personality. Not to mention also, his collection of ugly sweaters, bright colored clothing, and a house he’s transformed into a winter wonderland gingerbread house.
Emma and Oliver’s opposite worlds collide through amusing texts and a trail of dares with swapping houses an hour and a half away from one another.
Both Emma and Oliver want to be seen, to be wanted, for their realness underneath. Despite all odds, they’ve got more chemistry than imagined and sparks are flying! Maybe there is a chance a witch can find love in unlikely circumstances…
“You are the magic in my life.”
Witchever Way You Go is quick, but spooktacular sweet clean read. Not scary by any means. Thank you Anne Williams for cleverly adding just the right touch of magic with enchanting twists and turns to this bewitching fun tale. Emma and Oliver make quite the pair.
Dear readers, hop up on a broomstick and hold on tight, because this book will have you quickly bewitched and flying through the pages with glee. It’s a book worth-reading!
Witchever Way You Go is an adorable standalone witchy (paranormal) closed door romcom with a slight Christmasy crossover. Honestly Halloween and Christmas are my favorite times of year so I just knew I was going to love this story. I also devoured Anne William’s previous books in just a few days and I knew her writing wouldn’t disappoint! Emma Starling and Oliver Green could not be more opposite and that’s proven very quickly when they swap houses. Emma’s being decorated for Halloween year round (fitting for a witch no?) while Oliver’s house is decked out in Christmas decorations starting in September. Living the lives of one another for a couple months, they form a bewitching connection that eventually pulls them together to meet for the first time, at a Christmas tree farm no less. I enjoyed the little references to pop culture that were sprinkled in throughout! I absolutely loved the whole story and don’t think I could pick a favorite part (it was definitely Emma and Oliver making Halloween themed Christmas ornaments.) This book being dual POV made it so much easier to fall in love with the characters and I even found a little piece of myself in the both of them! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something a little witchy, and if you enjoy this story I also highly recommend you check out the rest of Anne William’s books, the Wild About You series!
If you like Halloween, Christmas, or both, read Witchever Way You Go. It’s the perfect read to transition you from the pumpkins, colorful leaves, and kids in costumes to evergreens, gingerbread men, and lights. Emma is a witch. Oliver loves Christmas. When they swap houses, they get a deep look at the life of the other, finding themselves drawn to each other through texting and a little magic. Add their attraction with Oliver’s meddling niece and a sudden storm, and you have the perfect equation for a happy ending. Anne does a fabulous job of waving two opposing holidays into one story of trying new things, seeing the depth of a person, and falling in love in unexpected ways. As a fellow Christmas enthusiast and one who’s not into Halloween, I loved this book. It gave me the feel of the holidays at the end of the year, readying you for both events through the eyes and experiences of the MMC and FMC. I’ll be adding this to my annual yearly reads! The only complaint is that it's a novella and not a novel, leaving me wanting a bit more between Emma and Oliver as their relationship grew. However, I understand the restraints of a novella and I'll still be putting 5 stars.
In closing, if you enjoy Nightmare Before Christmas, Gilmore Girl references, and happy endings, this novella is for you!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review of the novella.
“Witchever Way You Go” by @anne.william.author .. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 4 .. This paranormal romcom (closed-door romance) was absolutely endearing and may not appeal to all readers if that’s not your thing, but I’m here for it. Let me also say there is nothing dark about the story, it’s absolutely lighthearted and adorable.🖤 .. 🧙 The FMC - Emma - is a witch. Think Sabrina meets Bewitched. She lives in a “haunted mansion” and house swaps with cheery Oliver who is all about Christmas with his cozy Christmas cottage. You know, that friend that puts their tree up in September. Yea that’s him 🎄 .. The pair embodies opposites attract and it’s enchanting to watch their attraction to each unravel through crush worthy texting and living in each others homes. They’re just too perfect and I loved the idea of spooky meets cheery in this lighthearted way! .. I’m someone who LOVES Halloween and decorates in August and also the same person who puts my Christmas tree up November 1st! This story was the perfect mix! I devoured this novella in one sitting and simply loved every minute! If you’re looking for a fun sweet holiday read, this one is officially available! .. *No language and nothing beyond kissing .. **I received an ARC copy from the author, all my opinions are my own. 🖤
🦇 The vibes: - witchy/Christmas vibes - Novella - Instalove
🎄My thoughts: First of all- I think this is the cutest cover I’ve ever seen. It pulled me to snatch this one right away. I really liked the idea of this story. I went into it not knowing it was a novella, and I found myself wishing it was a full length, fully fleshed out novel. I think if it were- it could have been a 5 star story for me. Everything here happened so fast and I wanted to know more details about Emma’s creepy house and what made it creepy. I really liked Emma and Oliver but didn’t know much about them and found myself wanting a full background on them both. Like why does Oliver’s town think he’s a big joke?? I feel like I missed something.
Emma felt quick feelings for Oliver- which makes sense since it’s a novella and there’s not really time for a slow burn, but it just felt so so fast for me.
So yes- it felt rushed but the part I looooved is the black carnations - this gesture made my little black, spooky heart so happy.
As a total side note- What was with the love potion??? I was like hold up 😮 did my homegirl just do that? Didn’t love that part.
I absolutely loved the premise of this book and was thoroughly excited to read about a house swap between a witch and a Christmas lover. However, the writing style just wasn’t for me, and it prevented me from fully immersing myself in the story… 😬
I understand that this is a novella, but I would have wanted more character development. Knowing very little about both main characters and their pasts, their love story made very little sense to me and felt a bit flimsy.
Now, I’ll admit, I was clueless about the term “Insta-Love” before picking up this book. I even thought it had something to do with Instagram (I know, I’m totally a grandma… 😬🤣). After finishing “Witchever Way You Go,” I’ve got a handle on what it means, and honestly, it’s not really my thing. But hey, that’s on me, not the author!
Overall, I feel a bit disappointed by this story. I really wanted to love it, and I feel like it had a ton of potential, which, in my opinion, it didn’t live up to…
What a perfect little read for the season, but also perfect for Christmas. I LOVED the vibes, I'm a huge Christmas girlie and added in the spooky season vibes was great. This is a novella, the romance does happen fairly quickly, but if anyone can do this trope it's Anne ! I usually cannot when it happens too quickly, but the way she shapes her stories just makes it work so well. I actually believed their relationship even if it was quick.
The cuteness, sweetness and overall swoon factor of this book just made my heart happy. I loved Emma and Oliver they were such quirky characters, totally opposites but understood each other so well. Emma is a witch who's obsessed with spooky season and Oliver is just Christmas obsessed, they swap houses and it was so much fun to read.
I finished this one in one sitting, it was the perfect in between book. This is a non steamy romance and there is nothing dark about the magic Emma performs, it's super sweet.
If you're looking for the perfect novella to transition from Halloween to Christmas, it's a little treat, don't miss out !
✨️Thank you to @anne.william.author for my free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Witch Emma is of course an Halloween kinda girl but she mixes it up a bit with a playful houseswap after chatting online There’s lots of chemistry that is screaming ( excuse the halloween pun) fromthe texts. Exchanged , but when they dare an house exchange. Well it’s another story. Emma Starling’s spooky house for a full on in your face deck the halls with tons of baubles and nutcracker soldier …you get the gist. Anyway Oliver loves it even in October, and as they carry on instachatting while they are sat in each other’s homes they get to know each other’s foibles . They only live thirty minutes away from each other too so if romance is on the cards , they’re a go. But what if he runs to the hills on learning she’s a witch? This is awesome , it really is soooo good. A feel good perfect read for the holidays . Fall ,Thanksgiving, Christmas who cares as long as they do it together right? Good writing , flows along nicely , their texts to each other is great banter described well and it is an immersive super compelling experience. I read a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary in my own words
This was a cute, short Holiday filled novella. Our main characters, Emma and Oliver, definitely are opposits when it comes to which holiday they embody the most. Emma is a witch, so anything spooky and dark is right up her ally, so of course, October/fall is her favorite time of the year. While Oliver loves anything bright and cheerful so December and Christmas are when he shines the brightest. These two swap houses for a couple months ( so Oliver can help take care if his niece) and end up getting to know each other through texting and living in each other houses and they start to fall for one another. All the sweet moments that go into the holidays follow.
This was a cute short read and will definitely have you feeling the spirit of the holidays.
Mini Review: This book involves two totally opposites swapping houses around the holidays. Emma is your towns friendly Witch with a spooky house to boot. Oliver is a very attractive Mr. Jolly, full of holiday cheer and lots of those fun ugly holiday sweaters. Despite these two being polar opposites they have a connection but Emma fears if Oliver knew her secret he might run for the North Pole literally. Could these two opposites make more than a one time connection?
Things I loved: You could read this anywhere between Halloween to Christmas and this book would fit in with the holiday. Emma is so much fun. There is an adorable 9 year old. The Gilmore Girls References.
This was my first read by this author and I definitely plan to go and read her other books.
A delightful tale about two unique individuals who have so far been unlucky in love due to their different from normal people personalities. Emma and Oliver are so cute together and Oliver’s overwhelming love of holidays and all things cheerful only endears him to Emma who as a witch often finds herself oftentimes branded as a quirky outcast and unloved. Seeing them grow close through their interactions as well as how accepting they are to each others differences only adds to the charm and heartwarming emotions that one feels while reading this story.
If you’re looking for a fun read during the holidays, this book is for you! This festive story is a quick and easy read that keeps you wanting more! What could be more exciting than a witch, the holidays and some chemistry with opposites attract! Gave me Practical Magic vibes! You’re going to enjoy the laugh out loud moments. The characters are easy to like too! I really enjoyed this closed door romcom! I appreciate the advanced copy of your book and it was truly fun to read and share my honest opinion.
I just finished my ARC of Witchever Way You Go by Anne William and it was the cutest holiday novella! It was the cutest holiday love story between a witch (literally) named Emma and Oliver, a man who LOVES Christmas. I may be biased because I love the holidays especially Christmas but this novella was fantastic. It made me even more excited to decorate for Christmas in a couple weeks. (Yep, I’m one of those people who decorate day after Christmas. No shame in my Christmas game ❤️🎄💚) I highly recommend you add it to your holiday reading list!
Emma and Oliver trade houses through a website called House Hokey Pokey. Her house is dark and gives Gothic vibes while his house is bright (literally) because it is already decorated for Christmas.
These two strangers get to know each otehr through their houses, text, and phone calls. For the time, Emma found someone who didn't care she was a real witch and Oliver found someone who didn't mind his bright decorations. They end up falling in love.
I received an ARC of Witchever Way You Go in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book I have read by Anne Williams but it will not be my last. I love her writing.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This story was so much fun!! The perfect blend of spooky and jolly, it’s appropriate for a Halloween or Christmas read. The characters were wonderful and I loved the unique romance that starts with a house swap. I’d recommend this short story to anyone looking for a holiday read!
This was a cute novella that is a great transition from Halloween, to Thanksgiving to Christmas. I am ready to decorate for Christmas so this read was very timely for me!
If you love The Holiday, Gilmore Girls, and witches, this is the novella for you!
Emma is a witch who lives in a spooky house in Savannah. Oliver is a human who lives in a decked out Christmas themed house in Stars Hollow, a small town about 30 minutes away from Emma. They both signed up for a house swap, so they live in each others houses. They’re both in shock by the others’ house and get to chatting.
What will happen?! This non-steamy rom com is cute!!
I found some small parts to be not my jam, but with it being a novella, there isn’t much space to add more to it.
Thanks to the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
