This book is a compilation of observations and anecdotes on the relationship between rural peoples of SE Asia and animals, be it folklore and mythology or domestication and hunting, over the authors' years of living in the region. Some pretty solid and concise background info on the natural landscape, including biogeography and early human settlements, but the middle core of the book containing specific case studies of tribes and different animals I found less compelling.
