A one-volume dictionary detailing definitions of religious concepts, along with people or places which inspired them. Many of these entries contain line drawings. There are no photographs contained in this book.

There are newer and more relevant guides to the subject matter expounded upon here; much of this material may not be considered either exhaustive, or otherwise all-inclusive for that matter, as the material in this particular text at one time was.

i bought this book off the discount rack, but i've found it to be relaly interesting. i always have questions about what religion believes what, and who is connected to what religion, and this book contains concise descriptions of just about anything. the only drawback is that it kind of assumes you have a working knowledge of some religions when you reference certain names or concepts.
