What a great idea for a book! The illustrations are elaborate and brilliantly done. The story is hilarious.

If you have little ones this will be a book they want to read over and over.

Loved reading it with my son. Giggles are the best!

Recommends it for: Parents to read with young children
Shelves: first-reads
The illustrations are the best part of this book--Mr. Ballinger is a very talented illustrator. As for the "smells": The lovely scents were quite nice. The icky smells were...well, icky. That was the point though. (As a mom, I don't suppose I'm expected to be turned on by those icky smells.) My 11 year old son made quite a show of how affected he was by the nasty smells; choking, tipping over, etc. He quite enjoyed being grossed out by them. By the end he wasn't sure he wanted to continue smelli ...more

If what you want is to be grossed out when reading this book then..........MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I sat down my 4 kids ranging in ages from 6-14 and read this to them. We were all screaming in agony at some of the smells and even my "toughest" oldest child who thought he could handle it realized that some of the smells even broke him. I had to wash my fingers from rubbing (as the author suggest to make the smell last longer - as if we need that :) afterwards because they stunk so bad and I keep g ...more

Keep this book from your kids! They will use up all the aromas and there will be none left for you! Better yet, buy yourself a separate copy and keep it safely out of their reach.

It's seriously a funny book. Even without the odoriferous effects, the text reads with a beautiful lyrical quality that is best enjoyed when read aloud. Every page is an adventure.

You will love it. Your kids will love it!

This witty, quirky, hilarious book is written in rhyme. Take a whiff of what's in store for you...

"We all know that farts
are toxic to bear.
But my gas smells good,
like fresh mountain air."

"Your gas isn't fresh.
It's putrid and stale.
It blows out like smog
from under your tail."

Thus begins a jolly conversation between some pretty bizarre animals as they compare what they think their farts smell like to the real deal. The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind.....yes it is for sure.

One by one they

I'm biased since I wrote and illustrated it, but it's a pretty darn funny read, and it smells pretty funny too. In more ways than one!

Animal Gas is available at http://www.animalgas.com

I've always loved SCRATCH AND SNIFF, and Animal Gas is the PERFECT subject matter for this. Each character in Animal Gas has his or her own disSTINK personality and they try an convince each other that their toots smell great. There are lots of delightful smells in the book along with some really funny bad smells

I like fart jokes apparently because I've really been liking all these books on gas that I've been reading lately! In this book each animal claims that their gas smells like something phenomenal but the animal that is standing directly behind them think otherwise. It's a fun book with good flow and gems like, "While others make clouds of foulness that reeks, I'm shooting rainbows right out of my cheeks!" and "It's death and decay, not rainbows or peace. I think we should call the farting police. ...more

Everyone thinks their own foofs are fine, but are they? This book explores that question in depth and provides some stinky humor at its finest. All kidding aside, the rhymes are quite good and I think this will make kids who love potty humor giggle a lot.
