I received an advance reader edition of this book from Kensington Books and Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

I give this book a solid 4 stars. This is one of those books that will work for some readers but not for others. I liked this book and found that it did work for me but many romance readers will not feel the same. This is not a hearts and flowers feel good romance. This romance is rather dark in my mind with char

I loved this story! Laura is a strong, caring woman forced by circumstances into prostitution, and is thoroughly deserving of the lucky breaks which her encounter with playwright and actor Adam Lacey leads to. A captivating blend of dark and light, The Temptation of Laura raises some important issues about women's lives down the ages, but wraps the serious questions in a delightful and easy to read love story. ...more

THE TEMPTATION OF LAURA by Rachel Brimble ~ lives of guilt and sorrow, yet determination pull you into the hardships of life ~ yet, ultimately, love is all that matters

In many ways this read rather a sad story. It also has a powerful message with well-developed complex characters.. The events and situations which Adam and Laura find themselves, individually, are desperate. But can their attraction with the willingness to share life make this a happy ever after?

A dark, emotional romance, The Temptation of Laura was a wonderful read. I really enjoyed reading this lovely book.

Laura was a great heroine. She had a difficult life that forced her to make unsavory decisions, but she refused to be ashamed of doing what she needed to do in order to survive. But, she was also determined to leave that life once and for all. She was a strong character and quite admirable for what she went through. My only issue with her was that, even thought I understood the reas

I loved the story and the heroine. Laura Robinson was a strong woman who had a very bad past. Her story was very moving. I loved that she was able to overcome her past and still managed to teach her hero a lesson or two. The Hero Adam Lacey had glimmers of sweetness and was fun to get to know. In the beginning, I thought he was selfish, and that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack being too focused on his own success to really pay much attention to what Laura was going through. Their relati ...more

So you got Laura who has a difficult life that forced her to make decisions that she not proud of but she had to do it in order to survive. Then you got Adam who will do almost anything to "make it" . I thought they were a good couple willing to let go of the past for each other. But I didn't feel the heat, the consuming love or want of each other. I thought the book was good

I love historical romance but sometimes they all seem the dame. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s not a bad thing, like revisited an old friend after not seeing them for a while. There may be subtle differences, but overall, nothing has truly changed. Therefore, when I find a historical romance that sticks out for whatever reason, it excites me.

Rachel Brimble’s novels interested me greatly because they promised something different. Prostitutes, actresses and village girls? These aren’t the usu

Laura Robinson had been a prostitute since the age of 15. She is tired of that life and wants to make something of herself. She has always wanted to be an actress and manages to get a job selling food at the local theatre.

Adam Lacey has the staring role at the theatre, but would really like to be writing the plays instead of acting in them. When he sees Laura for the first time, he knows she would be the perfect person to star in his play. It was if the part had been written just for her.

Review: 2.5 stars
General: Unfortunately for me this book didn't hit home. The blurb intrigued me based on concept and my curiosity at what time frame this was taking place. However, I was unable to engage in the plot, characters or the time frame it was set in. I did finish as the overall idea was interesting but it isn't one that I'm keen on reading another from the autho

ARC given by netgalley for an honest review
Straight to the point I enjoyed the first part, but lost my interest the rest of the book. Never got to finish it. The main characters is understandable and enjoyable but the plot is rather dark for my taste. Maybe not my cup of tea, I have read prostitute/courtesan/ actress behind story before, but this story just not made the impression on me. Hope it be better on the next book.

This romance was different and probably a one or two star review for many. I enjoyed the dark, rough life shown in the characters. I loved how the author portrayed the characters as just like me with a past that is not all sweet and rosy. I recommend this book to all who enjoy romance.
