his was a short read, but one that carried unexpected emotional weight. The Angel of Eleventh Avenue offers a touching perspective on the meaning behind Christmas, the Festival of Trees, and the vital role of Primary Children’s Hospital.

As someone from the area, I’ve always known these traditions and institutions as sources of strength and healing in our community. But reading this story gave me a deeper connection to them—one filled with sorrow, hope, and pride. It reminded me of the compassion that exists within our hometown and the powerful stories that quietly shape the heart of our state.

This book left me feeling proud of where I come from, and grateful for the people and traditions that bring light during difficult times.

This book was one I chose because I needed something handheld sized to read in the tub, tbh. It pulled me in though, and I couldn't stop until I was through. It hit home pretty well with her daughter in the hospital and everything because I've experienced being in a children's hospital for a long time and also watching my baby sister life half her life in Children's until she passed. It was beautifully written and had me telling Google to play some of the songs mentioned and crying about it. It has a permanent place on my bookshelf, colored on the flyleaf by my kids and all.

Katherine is given four months to live after a cancer diagnosis. She felt overwhelming peace and a warm feeling inside that a wonderful reunion was awaiting her soon. She sees an angel.

"It's strange how much easier it is to say some things in a letter than it is in person, and how much deeper some thoughts can go when two people are apart." Ch 3, p 31

She tells of losing her first child as a stillborn son at 8 1/2 months pregnancy. Her second and last child is a daughter who died of cancer at age 12.

"I don't understand why He would let someone as perfect as my little girl suffer for my weakness...My dear, you are making two major assumptions that you have no right to make. First, you assume that God is interested only in dealing with us based on what we deserve and gives no consideration to what we need. Secondly, you assume that this life we are living is the only place in time and space that has any meaning." Ch 8, p 79

This was better than I expected. Obviously my book well was very dry and I was looking for something (ANYTHING) new to read. Luckily I have some other choices now. This book made me dream that my daughter Anne died. I didn't like that. I liked the poem at the beginning and the ideas. For its subject matter it was surprisingly not cheesy.

It was a bit contrived but a pretty good, quick Christmas read. I think one of my grandmothers gave it to us for Christmas a few years ago. I try to read quite a few Christmas-related books during the season. Has a good message about faith, hope, healing, forgiveness.

I finished this book the day after I started it because it was such a good book and because it was easy. I thought the little girl in this book was amazing. She had leuchimia and never once wined or complained and she never wondered why it was hapening to her and not some other child.

This is a sweet little story about a young girl who was dying of leukemia and her mother who didn't believe in God. It reminds the reader of what's important in this life. It's a quick read, but be sure to have a box of Kleenex handy. I cried all of the way through it.

If you read this book, have a box of kleenex handy. You will probably need it. The women telling the story talks about her angel she met while her daughter was staying at Primary Children's Hospital. Very touching story.
