I liked the first Johnny Texas book, but this one was even better. If you want to read a book about a good boy who learns true what it means to be truly brave, this is an excellent book. Carol Hoff innocently captures life in Texas after statehood. Johnny works to proves his worth just as Texas may have been trying to prove its worth at the same time mid-19th century.
