In my opinion Claire Thornton is a much under rated author of historical romance. She can effortlessly hold her own amongst the best; be it Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James or Mary Balogh.
Ms Thornton has it all; gripping plots, believable characters and an oh-so-desirable hero. Ms Thornton is also bold, in the 34 year adventurer Harry, she has created a scrumptous hunk of a man who is also a virgin...and more to the point his reason for being so with women throwing themselves at him left, right and centre is both moving and believable. She also paints a heroine worthy of winning his trust and affections.
So if what you require is an evocative, believable, sweep you along historical, look no further than Claire Thornton's 'Runaway Lady.'

I loved this book. The plot and characters were vivid and well portrayed. I love the period of the Restoration and the time of the Anglo-Dutch wars. The reference to the Dutch East India company and the merchants in Amsterdam also made it an interesting read.
