Welcome back to the world of Transformers! The hit animated TV shows Beast Wars and Beast Machines introduced a whole new generation to the 'robots in disguise' and now, at last, the stories that came before those shows can be seen again in their world-shaking glory, in the awesome run-up to the bestselling "All Fall Down" storyline - in a brand-new hardcover with cover art from the red-hot new Transformers series artist, Pat Lee! The Creation Matrix - the life-force of Transformers, the essence of their creator, Primus - has been lost for an age. Now, with the chaos-bringer, Unicron, bearing down on their home, Cybertron, the Autobots must locate the Matrix before all is lost. But they're not the only ones looking for it, and the Matrix itself may be more than they can handle!
Simon Christopher Francis Furman is a British comic book writer who is best known for his work on Hasbro/Tomy's Transformers franchise, starting with writing Marvel's initial comic book to promote the toyline worldwide, as well as foundations for both Dreamwave Production's and IDW Publishing's takes on the Generation 1 minifranchise.
The Matrix Quest never really worked for me; I liked the concept and the final few chapters are interesting, but the beginning of it is marred by characters I don't care about and more Jose Delbo artwork. However, once we move past that, the book really does begin to pick up steam, leading into the final few collections.
Legendary "Transformers" writer Simon Furman begins to get the title on a roll, but a wide array of artists on stories that are ultimately setup for the final confrontation with Unicron knock this collection down a few steps.
Things get silly when the Autobot Pretenders throw down with Thunderwing's Mayhem Attack Squad. On the line? The Cybertronian Creation Matrix, and the Transformers' last chance at stopping Unicron!
Then, in the distant future of 2009, Autobot rebels launch a last-ditch assault on Galvatron's stronghold, claiming it in the name of the American people and preventing a nuclear holocaust!
Finally, in the present day, definitely-not-Tony-Stark assembles a team of definitely-not-X-Men to take on a rabid Starscream! Stars gets treated like a punk and the X-Nots double their numbers! Then... Shockwave!
